Nimbus are low, rain producing clouds, such as nimbostratus. I think you meant Cirrus, which DOES mean mares tail in Latin (because everything scientific has a latin name.). As for my favorite gem... I'M NOT GONNA CHOOSE. it's too hard.

To be honest, I think taking good things from all systems and creating a hybrid system might be worth a shot. I would have to read up on all the systems to make a full answer.
