I actually like the national holidays we have now, I don't think we need more and in reality there are national holidays for plenty of things just not mass celebrated.

 

Maybe something more serious could be like a more international version of the Kupala Night, celebrated during summer solstice on the longest day and shortest night of the year. And then the celebrations would include letting out floating lanterns at midnight into the sky after wishing upon them... Tons upon tons of them, wouldn't that just be a beautiful world-wide sight followed up by either more public or home based parties with nightly grills and other such related stuff.

 

Also, excuse for getting drunk.

 

The problem would be that could be dangerous and possibly cause fires if someone messes up, and it would massively polute the world... but hell, it would be so worth it. ^^  :3

To be honest, I have no idea. We have a lot of Holidays, some are because of religious reasons and others not and I have no idea for a new holiday.
