I don't really see how doing the same voting again will help, people are still going to use their dupe accs :/ I hope not though :3

So has it actually been proven that duplicate votes were cast?

They're all wonderful ponies! Each one's a valid choice xD

And you're being a bit harsh on Pinkie. Defining a character from a single, out-of-context, scene doesn't work too well. Fluttershy made both Pinkie and Rarity cry in "Putting Your Hoof Down", yet we both know she's as sweet as can be. Having no exposure to aggression before, there wasn't any filter for her new behavior regimen. I consider it a testament to how kind she truly is.

Pinkie's a carefree spirit who isn't always in tune with common social cues. There have been countless times I stray from my usual self and have to correct things in hindsight.

Oh, yes, I'm sorry about this. I was a little too harsh, and I know Pinkie meant no harm.

They are all good ponies (although Rarity is my favorite of all), so may the best pony win!  :D

Yeah I can't really help with that. Hoping the all characters option cuts down on that because voting that helps their pony more than individually picking their pony

All characters = 2 votes for all of them = 0% difference = waste of vote (except if you like all of them equally and don't care about who wins)

Could you please explain?

So has it actually been proven that duplicate votes were cast?

No, and we can't prove it. But if an account that recently was created has done nothing but vote in the poll, it's quite obvious.

I don't know why but I find this mad idea quite brilliant! Well.. considering The Doctor always has a mad idea or just makes it up as he goes along that may also be my inner fanboy liking this...

I...did not see this coming! The two Final Four matches were, statistically speaking, a dead heat. I suppose a four corners match is the only way to go. With WrestleMania XXX starting in a few hours, this seems quite fitting. :)

Go Fluttershy! :yay:

PS.  I promise this will be the last big picture from me in this tournament.  :P

People are always going to use dupe accounts in things like this. Just like how a group of fluttershy fans proxy voted her in for the Hub's own national contest. Best thing you can do is just mitigate it (by removing the really obvious duplicates) and just hope for the best.

nah it's not a waste of vote, it's more like

being a friendly fellow and picking "ALL CHARACTERS" = getting 2 votes for your pony

being a diehard Rarity/AJ/PP/FS fellow and only picking "Rarity"/"AJ"/"Pinkie"/"Flutters" = getting .5 votes for your pony

it's either share the wealth with the all characters or only giving your pony a measly small gain

Well, I'm disappointed that after yesterday it just came down to another four-way vote anyway. I'll not be bothering with this next year.

In the end, it'll come down to who get's the most individual votes though. It's an endless tie, otherwise.

That they're duplicates, no. But as I understand it there are a bunch of accounts that all they do is vote in polls. So either they are people brought in from other forums just for polls, or they are sock puppet accounts. Not sure how you'd be able to tell the difference between those and just new members who haven't done anything else yet, without diving into full-on analysis of the data.

I just got up to check on the results, and boy did I get a surprise to see the new poll. :D  Certainly an interesting spin in this new style of voting, but I have to vote for my favorite pony. Still hoping for a Rarity victory. Let's make it happen Rarity fans!

A simple way to help the duplicate account situation: Blank Flanks can't vote on polls. That will prevent sameday sign-ups and sock puppets. Not sure if technically feasible, though.

CURRENT TALLY AS OF 53 VOTES

AJ 24.5

FS 22.5

R 23.5

PP 23.5

So I guess it doesn't matter if you vote for all ponies. The pony with the most individual votes will still win.

Let's make up some numbers

Votes for ALL: 10

Votes for AJ: 5

Votes for FS: 4

Votes for R: 7

Votes for PP: 6

10 for all = 2 votes each, which means

Votes for AJ: 22.5

Votes for FS: 22

Votes for R: 23.5

Votes for PP: 23

it's still ± Σ(individual pony votes)/2 that decides who wins. of course you can vote for all if you want to be kind or if you like all equally

again, I don't see the point

I'm not sure I'll vote at all after yesterday's debacle. I know it wasn't a four way tie and really, somepony had to lose from yesterday. Might as well bring Derpy, Rainbow Dash and Twilight back. This new voting thing is silly so if I vote at all, it will be to force a tie if I can so that there is no winner.

Let's say all characters gets 100 votes

Rarity by herself gets 20 votes

her total score will be 210 "votes"

(100 X 2 + 20 X .5)

it encourages votes to be for all characters than being a selfish Sally and just voting for your pony.

Whaaaaaat, nopony said there would be math!

But seriously, I'm still confused. Mind if I try to break this down?

1. When the vote ends, the original amount of votes for each pony is halved, with the result being the new amount.

2. After that, the amount of votes for "ALL CHARACTERS" is doubled, and the result is added to the number of votes for each pony.

So if I did it correctly, "ALL CHARACTERS" basically doesn't do anything. It's all in the individual ponies' votes, although I can somewhat understand this being used to make the competition friendlier.

If you want to see your iron pony win, vote for her. If you don't really care and just want to support them all, vote All. It's as simple as that.

well it gives people more options and instead of alliances emerging, they'll be forced to either pick all or just pick theirs. Less you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

But it doesn't matter. They might as well have not voted at all if they pick "All".

Wait, "EVERYONE" is an option that can win? What is this, a 3rd grade little league baseball game?  :P

No it just means you give everypony a vote.

That's true, but is also beside the point. Whether you see it as wasted or as support for all doesn't matter. What matters is that no more cross-pony teams. You vote for your favorite, or you don't by showing support for All or not voting at all.
