I'll throw my two cents in and say Twilight Sparkle. Rainbow Dash is a close second due to her surprisingly complex personality, and the fact that she reminds me of a friend of mine. But I'd say Twilight just because I can see aspects of myself in her character, and I think that she's in a state of transition from being a student to being a leader, which naturally is an important transition for me.

Honestly My Top four favorite Characters are

 

1) Twilight

I always feel guilty when I have to pick a favorite, they are all about even from my perspective. But if i was forced to pick one at gun point I'd have to say Rainbow Dash because everytime I see the Sonic Rainboom episode it reminds me of Chuck Yeager who was the first person to break the sound barrier.

Also, Rainbow Dash has the right suff!

There isn't really any competition for me about who my favourite pony is. It's Pinkie Pie, because she's so outright bouncy and happy all the time, it's just so uplifting and childish I grin every time she's on screen.

Well, the main character is quite obvious..

About the secondary... I´m not a huge fan of any of these, but I voted for Apple Bloom, my fav CMC.

And tetriary.. well, Octavia, DJ Pon-3 aka Vinyl Scratch & Derpy. It is interesting how tetriary characters are sometimes more popular tham the secondary.

Honestly some of the numbers on this poll are pretty surprising in themselves alone, but some were what I had anticipated (like Derpy stealing the last column).

 

I put my vote in for Fluttershy (best tree), Scootaloo (best chicken), and Derpy (best derp).

 

Fluttershy has always been my favorite from the first episode I've ever seen though so she takes the gold in my book.

Hard to choose really, when I first started watching a completely loved Fluttershy. And without a doubt, no challenge she was never opposed as best pony in my book. I still love FS but now my favorite pony has turned into a complete toss-up! After Season 2 I've had time to think and it's like a four-way tie between Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy was always up there due to her insane cuteness, I like Dashie now because like her, I am very competitve, hate to lose, and have pride in myself. Rarity is awesome because of her elegence without being a snappy woman, and her dramatic moments rival Fluttershy's DAWWW moments. And finally, Pinkie sense her cartoony nature and her optimistic and friendly personality, which I seriously connect to!
