I don't really know enough about it, When it comes to the internet i'm the kind of boring guy who only visits the same 5 sites. :P

But once a friend on Facebook wanted to show me their blog, It made me not want to visit there ever again, It was just pictures of corpses, No discussion or anything productive...Just pictures of corpses, I'm glad to say I blocked that person on Facebook, but I really don't like that kind of stuff, I prefer happy stuff. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

I made an account like a week before now, and I like the custom HTML themes thing. I made a theme for my blog thing. :D

I didn't use it a lot now, but I might see it more some time.

I just got it for some place to have my site. xD

I love and hate it. I love it because I've made some amazing friends on it, have had some really fun rps, love a lot of the artwork posted on there and more. But I hate it because of some of the attitudes and opinions posted there. I'd rather not go into too much detail with the latter. They can be really frustrating and shit sometimes. But I still love it had my friends on there.

I don't like tumblr. I tried it out once and it just didn't appeal to me. It's rather confusing and I only saw uninteresting blogs. At least I didn't come across... bad stuff, which apparently tumblr has lots of :o

Tumblr is downright terrible, full of things I rather not touch again:

  • Disregards to copyright, many original posts reblog art without the artist's consent. I feel downright terrible when some "well known" blogger reblogs MY music without permission and takes credit for it.
  • Angry rants by many people that just make others feel miserable.
  • Viral images and Gifs that you can find on 4chan
  • The lack of sourcing information and taking word for word what's said, which really bugs me and it's why I left Tumblr.
  • The "Anon" feature that turns people into "death threat mongers" or just plain nasty anons, another reason why I felt compelled to leave Tumblr.
  • The amount of porn and lack of effective filtering. Also many blogs say they are NSFW, so I can't follow my favorite person if he reblogs something NSFW.
  • The average common sense in a Tumblr user feels lower than that of Facebook, Twitter, MLPF.
  • It's a bad environment to grow in (I'm sorry but if you're a teenager don't go on this site. It's bad for your mental health. .)

So I based this off my personal experience of using Tumblr for one year and then quitting because it's not in my interests.

Every time I hear of Timblr, I hear negative news of it. Some people have told me it is like 4chan except worse.

I guess some people are into that kind of stuff though. I may look at it for myself one day, but as of right now, I think I will take everyone else's word on it.

The high amount of people racist against white people disturbs me greatly... It's almost as bad as Stormfront.

But the site itself, is great. I love being able to edit my blog's design, and still being on a large hub of other blogs to make it easier to get known than getting my own hosting. I loathe the reblog system to this day though, why can't Tumblr just allow regular comments on blog entries?

I like Tumblr, but I don't really use it for much.

I mostly just like to type in various things of interest/fandoms and look at all the pretty artwork people make.

I sometimes read posts, but I'm really there for the pictures.

Other than that, it totally goes over my head. No clue how it works, and the layout/format confuses me.

These points, I also wish would be different about Tumblr. Except the Anon thing, it's easy enough to disable and there are a few (underused) good uses for it (e.g. if you're running a drama blog, people will want to be able to blow the whistle without haters trying to silence them).

I had to unfollow a few good artists because 90% of their "content" was reblogs, usually explicit cartoon drawings. Wish the 18+ blog marker would apply to individual posts as well, so that any reblogs would be blocked from showing up on my dashboard when I clearly say, I don't want to see 18+ material.

Hey Carbon. Y'ever heard of Tumblr Saviour? You can use it to filter tags. Jus' sayin.

Okay, a few problems with that.

First, I'm not a Google Chrome fan. I'm sorry, but that app seems to be oriented to that. But that's a different issue.

Second, and my real issue with it is, the fact that you have to install an app in the first place to remove tags just boggles me. That's like buying a car, but you need to buy windshields for the car to be comfortable in it. It just feels incomplete. Yahoo should have a filter built-in that works.

Not to mention all the other bulletins that I've posted earlier, but I think you'll understand.

I wouldn't say I love it like sooo much, but I do sorta love it. Sometimes it just gets on my nerves. Like with the people ranting about how they hate straight, white people. (Like seriously?) Or just people being super annoying and typical with their posts. But other times, it's enjoyable and I find some pretty cool/ funny stuff on there. I tend to kind of follow more fan or themed blogs now because of the typical, annoying users posting the exact same things all the time.

I don't know how to feel about tumblr, as a viewer can work fine, I like that your feed updates automatically like facebook, but some blogs layouts make you navigate the entries like in this forum, that can be a hassle.

But as a blogger can be discouraging because no matter how much effort you put into your blog, that doesn't guarantee you followers and it's even worse than a much crappier blog that yours get famous in less time than yours.

I prefer deviantART better which is more balanced on that side, talent = number of watchers.

but that's just me....

:)

There are legitmate professionals on there with 10 watchers, and mediocre artists who draw fanart and have 1000+ watchers. On both deviantart and tumblr, fans come most easily not from how you draw, but what you draw.

yeah you're right about that. About the fanart I mean, you get more popular if you draw fanart of popular series.

Personally, I hate dA. It's now filled with people who cannot take constructive criticism, and will whine their way out of everything.

Plus, dA's rules state that shirt sites like WeLoveFine and Redbubble can steal your art, and they will do nothing about it. I am never going on that putrid website, unless i feel like looking through some okayish art.

Not really a fan to be honest. There are some hilarious GIFs and whatnot but there are too many social justice warriors. I mean, sure, it's all good to be pro gay marriage and against rape culture (I am too) but is it really necessary to go completely bat-shit bonkers and declare war on all white, straight, cisgendered men because apparently their very existence is actively oppressing people? The sort of people who claim that all heterosexual sex is rape because...you know what? I can't even invent a reason why you'd think that. There are a lot of a lot of angry people there with some very twisted views of the world.

Really? Not cool. But the community itself is much better, they helped out a guy who was printing Deviantart pictures on canvas and passing them off as originals for thousands.

Oh goodness right? So many of them are misandrists/racists/heterophobic it's not even funny. Makes the real equality warriors look terrible.

deviantART is not a putrid website, many of the people that are in it is. I may go off topic over here, but maybe bronies are not the same they used to be 2 years ago, there's some nasty things going on in this fandom and it's disgusting to me.
