Over the past month we've been extremely busy preparing for this year's romp in Richmond. We're happy to announce that we have two more esteemed guests coming this August: comic writer Georgia Ball and song writer and composer Daniel Ingram!

Georgia Ball

Georgia worked for several years as a Flash animator for IBM and the Cartoon Network, where she met and married fellow animator Scott Ball. They collaborated on a series of animated shorts and games and promoted them by launching a webcomic called “Scooter and Ferret” in 2004. While Georgia grew as a web developer, she also had to grow as a writer to keep the strip afloat. In 2010 an editor for Ape Entertainment contacted her and asked her to write for their new Strawberry Shortcake comic book series. Since then she’s published stories for Kung Fu Panda, Fruit Ninja and My Little Pony for IDW. Her latest comic book series, Littlest Pet Shop, will be released in stores in May 2014.

Daniel Ingram

A multi-Emmy nominated and award-winning composer, Daniel is best known for his songs on the phenomenally successful TV series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He is one of the most prolific and identifiable composers working in television today, with a credit list that spans hundreds of episodic scores and over 200 original songs. Daniel has been featured in Rolling Stone magazine and enjoys the unusual distinction of inspiring thousands of YouTube remixes and covers of his music by fans of all ages. His many television shows include Littlest Pet Shop, Martha Speaks, Pound Puppies, Dr. Dimensionpants, Kate & Mim Mim, and Equestria Girls.

Please be aware that Daniel will only be attending on Saturday (August 23rd) due to professional commitments.

There'll be more where that came from, so stay tuned for more!

...oh wait. There's actually one more thing I should mention: BronyCAN's sponsoring a movie! A documentary, to be exact.

A Brony Tale @ DOXA

BronyCAN is pleased to announce that we will be sponsoring the Vancouver screenings of A Brony Tale at the Documentary Film Festival (DOXA).

The breakout hit is set to be screened on May 11th at 7PM PST at the Vancouver Playhouse and 8PM PST at the VIFF’s Vancity Theatre. To celebrate the screening of this curious journey through the brony fandom, BronyCAN will be holding a picture contest to give two tickets to the 8PM screening at the Vancity Theatre.

Participants are asked to snap pictures of what it means to be a Canadian brony, and tweet them to #BronyCANDOXA for a chance to win these exclusive film tickets. Please note that travel is not provided. Participants must be able to attend the screening in person.

The contest runs until May 7th, so don't miss this opportunity!

ABOUT DOXA
DOXA is presented by The Documentary Media Society, a Vancouver based non-profit, charitable society (incorporated in 1998) devoted to presenting independent and innovative documentaries to Vancouver audiences.

The society exists to educate the public about documentary film as an art form through DOXA Documentary Film Festival, a curated and juried festival comprised of public screenings, panel discussions, public forums and educational programs.

Okay, that's all we have for today, but don't forget to follow us online at BronyCAN.ca! If you haven't registered for BronyCAN or reserved your hotel, you still have time! Hope to see you there!
