  1. I live in a small town right outside Liverpool, England Liver Building:
  2. Lyrics can be written in many different ways! The biggest thing for me though is showing, not teling (as mentioned above). For example: Telling: He was happy. Showing: He let out an excited gasp and grinned from cheek to cheek. Basically, describe the emotion, or what is happening, instead of just up and say. This is a great way to add tons of emotion to lyrics, and have listeners connect with the song, or get a feeling for it. However telling is not a bad thing. Packing your song with metaphor is going to make it look like you're trying too hard, and then you won't even know what your writing about. Another thing that is great in songs is a hook line, or at least a chorus. A hook line is like a mini chorus, something that appears again over the course of the song. Hook lines, for me, are great because your song can become catchy, yet doesn't have to follow the same old boring song structures. Look and observe your influences, who you want your music to be like. It's fine to imitate. You will have your own style in due time. Finally, follow criticism. This site has no one who just insults people's music, but instead points out flaws and tries their best to help the musician in question. Also C. Thunder Dash would be a great person to collab with. Lengthy post but I hope it helps!!
  3. I know RD is supposed to be a narcissist, but if that became her 'big thing' and she just stopped caring for anyone but herself then, yeah, she would not be my favourite pony. Out of the shows boundaries? Probably murder.
  4. Most holidays, people are off work, so the other 364 days are unavailable to dress up in a scary costume or give gifts to people. It's good old fun and brings everyone together, and allows everyone to spend more time with those they love. But if thats your opinion then hey ho.
  5. Thank you so so much! This means a lot to me as an aspiring songwriter!
  6. What do you think? Personally they feel a bit pretentious but this is the first real complete song i've written.
  7. It was a refreshingly good, enjoyable episode. I do think that his acceptance was a bit too quick, but you can only do so much in 20 minutes.
  8. 9.5/10 Excellent instrumentals and experimentation
  9. 3/10. Mediocre metal, nothing special with lyrics many people could write. I wouldn't listen to it again (my opinion dont hurt me).
  10. I just let people find out by themselves. If they ask, I say yes, because honestly this closet idea is a bit ridiculous. It's just a TV show, and when telling someone, treating it like a confession is going to make it worse. No offence to anyone in "the closet" by the way, I can see why you feel that way, but honestly just mention it when it is brought up in conversation. Your friends will gloss over it more, maybe making fun of you for like 5 seconds and then moving on to something else. Treat it like a confession, and they'll think about it more, which is, considering you're in "the closet", is not what you want.
  11. Ah, I understand. I just wanted to let you know these types of songs have been around for centuries, I mean have you heard "Leck Mich im Arsch" by Mozart? It's exactly what it sounds like. And for my contribution to this thread: I'm going to have to jump on the popular opinion bandwagon and say modern pop music. It's not because I want to look cool, but there is something with modern digital production that makes it hard for me to listen to pop music. I prefer the sounds of actual instruments to digital computerized generated synthesized bullshit that is supposed to sound like something its not. Synthesizers being used as synthesizers, sounding explicitly like synthesizers and nothing else (Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre) sounds good to me, and definitely when used with other instruments (Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, most progressive bands). And just because I like real instruments doesn't mean that recording a song with an acoustic guitar or grand piano track makes it any better, it's still, as Magic Rasin said, repetitive and formulaic. I would write more but that would mean pointless drivel that no one wants to waste their spare time with. tl;dr Pop music, or at least mainstream music, because many charting singles sound no different from one another. I believe music to be an art form, and should be treated as such, not limited to formulas but to have boundaries constantly pushed.
  12. I know you said this a while ago but I wanted to say that your claim about modern pop music is all about drugs is slightly bullshit. Most of the drug songs came from the 60s; White rabbit (1967) by Jefferson Airplane, Heroin (1967) by The Velvet Underground, Purple Haze (1967) by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, basically just look up '60s psychedelic songs' and you get a plethora of drug songs, some very popular, all released in the span of about 3-4 years. Edit: Not to mention that drug songs of the past tend to be masterpieces
