  1. Alright if it is the case that Flash is a static character, and has no choice but to show up at least once each movie, how come the writers don't bother to develop him. i can understand, that they're not up to working on a cliche romantic subplot and have it overshadow the major one, but they can at least work on his character some instead of writing him in just to literally be ignored, Friendship Games is a big example. Out of all the characters they put the effort into emphasizing or developing, whether for the sake of the story or for fanservice, Flash was always the odd man/pony out. In Friendship Games, Twilight wouldn't so much as hold conversation with him when it didn't stop her from talking to everybody else when she was busy. Heck, even in the Slice of Life episode, Flash was supposed to be in it for a legitimately funny part and was one of the most plausible ones to show up, but his part was cut. You could say for time constraints, but there were parts in that episode that I thought could've been cut, yet they kept those, but excluded him. It just feels like they treat Flash like an accident child that they acknowledge his existence but don't really care for him. Like they can throw him away at any time, but they just don't. I kind of feel more sorry for Vincent Tong, being called to only speak one or two lines, each part he's in, and that's not much.
  2. When they were singing that Babs Seed song.
  3. Well remember that movie theater the crusaders were in that one time? I suppose that means movies are canon, I guess.
  4. I hope that's the case. Maybe they'll finally do something with Flash Sentry, both human and pony, instead of treating him like an accident child they try to ignore like he never happened. Seriously, was I the only one pissed at how he was treated in Friendship Games?
  5. Welp, another season has passed and we got a while until the next season shows it's face. So all that's left is to kill time and theorize on what could be, and I have a pretty interesting thought. Let me ask you a question, who loved the the finale? I know there are already mixed reactions to it, so don't answer. Like everybody else I have certain dislikes about it, and the highest on that list is this: I don't like that they portrayed the mane 6 as the most important thing in the universe. I get it they're the main characters, they are important in the overall story, but this finale blatantly pointed out these specific six ponies keep world in tact. One thing I liked about the premiere was that it shows the mane 6 aren't always going to be able solve the problem, and therefore it might be best to have other people to rely on in case something like that happens again. However the mane 6 are starting to acknowledge how vital they are, maybe too vital. Basically if they go down all of Equestria goes down. So how can they solve this little issue? And that's where I think Twilight come's up with a plan, which leads to Starlight being her student. There might be another reason that this was the first that comes up in Twilight's mind. After fighting first hand and seeing that she was on par with an alicorn, power like that can be valuable on the side of good, maybe good enough to take Twilight's place should anything happen. And that's where I transition to the point. What if the next season was about finding candidates for a backup Elements of Harmony? We know the mane 6 can't stop everything by themselves, and Celestia is no help, so it could be best to find other ponies that can substitute suiters for the elements just in case. But these can't be just any random ponies, these have to be ponies, whether ones we already know or maybe even new characters, who fit the elements to a T. These, I believe, should be ponies the 6 met and taught them lessons based on their respective elements. I'll now state my thoughts on who would be great candidates. First off, we'll start with Starlight. As Twilight's student and her amazing talent for magic, she'd be perfect for the element of magic, especially when she's currently learning the true meaning of friendship. Next would be for an element I can't think of who would fit yet, and that's kindness. Funny thing is Fluttershy hasn't truly taught someone her ways yet, besides Seabreeze who's currently unavailable. This is what I meant by new characters coming in. Perhaps this character can be somebody who's mean and cruel at first until Flutters teach him/her to be kinder to those around them, making them a great suiter. Now onto loyalty, I think Spitfire would be perfect. Let's face it, the wonderbolts are corrupt. Throughout the series we see that they have bad ways of thinking, like throwing away teammates for the sake of winning. And Wind Rider proves that this way of thinking must've been going on for a while, to the point that Spitfire believes in those ways. That is until Rainbow Dash came in and showed her what it means to be loyal to others. She has learned a lot from Rainbow more than anybody else and that is what makes me believe she would be a worthy candidate. Next on the list is honesty. For me I think it should be Silver Shill, remember him? I think he has learned the most from Applejack. At first he was kind of a con artist thanks to Flim and Flam, but seeing how AJ using her dishonesty almost hurt someone precious her, and her honesty made her highly respectable, he was so moved that he is willing to make enough money to payback all the ponies he cheated. Seeing that devotion to make an honest living makes me believe he'd be fine for the element of honesty. Now for laughter. Do I really need to say who? Snips and Snails. You know I'm kidding, Cheese Sandwich. It's obvious he'd be perfect. He is what he is because of Pinkie Pie, his influence, heck he was even considered to be a better partier than Pinkie, perfect for a replacement of her. That's all I can say really, he's perfect for the element of laughter. Finally, generosity. That would be Coco Pommel. She has learned plenty from Rarity. Thanks to her influence Coco was inspired to be generous to others and have ponies be generous along with her, and leave Suri who made her think wrong about how to make it in the big city. Now she's way better off and is supporting everybody around her. That alone makes me think she's worthy. If this were the main theme to season 6 I would be happy that they were getting a chance to be in the spotlight and be the heroes. I think they'd be great elements, and it could be handy to have a second pair in case to mane 6 can't cut it. However all this is just an idea. What do you think about this idea? Do you think it would be interesting? Your thoughts on other candidates?
  6. Okay over a year ago (I think) I made a blog asking how Flash Sentry, or Brad in some people's case, was a Gary Stu. And after some time and hearing other people's reasons, I now understand how. A nice guy and a slight dork are his only traits. He doesn't have much of a personality so he doesn't have cons as much as he has pros. He's a walking middle ground. So what this leads up to is, why do people want to instantly despise him because of that? Many reviewers including the famous brony analysts state the same reason, and some can't find a reason to hate nor like him, though there is one common thing that all of them tend to leave out when stating that reason, isn't that the same case with many of the background characters or one offs we've come to love in an instant? How many of us can even remember the reason we liked background characters before they became a big thing? I mean Lyra, BonBon, Derpy, Vinyl, all of were as implied, background characters, Just ponies with no lines, no established personalities, only there to take up empty space. Yet here we are treating said characters as if they were our own children. In fact, it sounds even more contradictory when you realize that we were the ones who made their personalities for them, and that's how we've come to love them so. Now if Flash is in the same category as them, why is it that we take the route of disliking him? He hasn't hurt anybody as of now, only exist. If I may guess, it's more on the lines of them thinking he's useless as a character. The background characters at least did their job of being in the background. What I mean is, Flash was supposed to be a big deal, he's the established love interest, and after years of watching Disney movies, that's kind of important. A love interest is not supposed to just be there to exist, he supposed the lover, friend, partner, and companion to the female or male lead. They are there to help them any chance they get as well a develop a relationship while doing so. Heck, even Eric from Little Mermaid did his part by killing Ursala. And then we have Flash, a love interest is what he is, and yet he doesn't fulfill that purpose right, it just ends up as more of a mutual crush and nothing more, hence why they think he's useless. He had a role and he didn't live up to it, for three movies straight. This, I think, is what ticked people off deep inside, and found themselves to be annoyed, which lead to loathing him. This is not his fault, it's that the writers can't seem to find the time to do something with him, which shouldn't be a big issue, because look at how much time and attention they give to the fan favorite characters lately in episodes. I'm sure they could think of something if they actually tried. Back to the point the point. From what I see it's not just the issue the he's underdeveloped, rather he just doesn't do anything for an established character. It's like a rc car with no batteries, it just sits there and goes nowhere so you just get bored and ignore it, but if you put batteries in it, you'd like it and have a lot more fun with it. So personality wise, I think he's just fine. If you want him to be fixed, just give him more screen time ,interaction with other characters, and let him do something. So what do you say, am I close? If not tell if I'm wrong and add your two cents. I just like talking about this issue and more mad at the writers than him.
