  1. Hah, it was tied and I broke the tie with a Rarity vote Seriously though, I love both for different reasons but Rarity edges out ahead slightly because she's an artist at heart.
  2. I voted for Granny Smith. She's my favorite Apple family member (besides Applejack, of course). She also avoids falling into that 'old sage' stereotype or going in the opposite direction of 'cranky old person'. Yes sometimes she's wise and sagelike, and sometimes she does old people things that are played for laughs, but she's just a really well-rounded and balanced character.
  3. Josh Groban makes my heart melt. <3 I'd flip out if he had a singing cameo in FiM.
  4. Not only would horses naturally be vegetarians, but also in a world where even little forest creatures seem to have some sort of sentience they are probably trying to avoid fridge-horror by having them eat animals that are intelligent and self-aware. There will probably be slip-ups here and there like the eggs because that would be difficult to keep straight 100% of the time, but it's safe to assume they are either largely or entirely vegetarian. Also this show does not follow horse anatomy faithfully, at least in terms of digestion. There's one episode where some ponies got sick and appeared to be puking into buckets, where real-world horses can't throw up. It should be filed under the same cartoon rules that allow them to talk, do things on their hind legs that a quadruped couldn't, manipulate instruments that would require fingers with their hooves, or even talk.
  5. I'm torn between Rarity and Twilight being my favorite. Rarity is great because she takes the whole "fashion girl" thing and turns it on its head. She's intelligent and artistic, and she feels like the most "mature" of the mane 6 in that most of her problems relate to her job. Also her VA is wonderful and has an incredible range (She was Nazz in Ed, Edd, n' Eddy. In that role she sounds NOTHING like Rarity.)
  6. I read a while ago that since irl horses/ponies age differently than humans, it's possible that ponies age differently as well. The life cycle of many animals include a much shorter childhood stage than humans. Keeping that in mind, it's plausible that Rainbow Dash is younger yet could still live on her own and hold down a job. If I had to guess her age based on how she acts though, I'd say 19. Out of the teenage phase, independent and technically an adult, but still obviously young and learning.
  7. Agreeing with everyone who said a full Celestia episode. Ever since Twilight's ascention, she's felt even more sidelined than before. I also agree that Zecora needs more love. She got a little bit of a showing in Season 5 compared to the previous ones, but it's still not enough.
  8. I have read fics before that just painted Rarity as a shallow fashionista Mean Girl and it makes me rage so hard. Yes, she's into fashion, but she's an artist first. As an IRL artist who has done some industry work, I can see that the writers/animators threw in a lot of the industry issues one has to deal with, the struggle with creativity and inspiration, balancing creating a product for others and your own artistic desires and everything. Rarity could have even been a Pony animator in some sort of meta-commentary and a lot of her struggles would have been the same. Downplaying her personality as "she's into dresses" is pretty insulting.
  9. Probably Rainbow Dash because many people can't picture her being with any boy. I honestly think Rarity would be the least big deal from a character perspective, because she seems to be the only pony on the show that has showed any interest at all in guys (ex. Prince Blueblood).
  10. Put me in the camp of "guest character that has some appearances/character development, but not a member of the Mane 6". She still has the faraway reformed village that she calls her home, after all.
  11. Yes. Even if we magic-handwave all of the crops dying and the world becoming too cold to survive on, NMM's rule would be grim: 1) Most ponies in the FiM universe seem similar to Earth ponies (the irl ones, not the show's Earth Ponies). This means they are diurnal creatures. If every single pony was forced to be nocturnal, their circadian rhythm would be screwy and while I'm sure some would adjust, many would probably end up tired and depressed all the time. I wonder if the bat winged/eared ponies seen in Luna and NMM's guard are nocturnal, perhaps by magic or a special bloodline? 2) We only got to glimpse at it for a couple of minutes but as others said, it appeared to be a dictatorship ruled with an iron fis-er, hoof. Even in that small window of time, the ponies appeared scared to even say Celestia and all of the armed guards looked like a military force. There are already enough real-world examples of such things to show how miserable living under those conditions would be.
