  In the events of Sonic Mania, Sonic had been captured by Dr. Robotnik and been taken in to be roboticized by the mad doctor.

  What was different  from all the others was Sonic was being roboticized by the Phantom Ruby's energy, thus making him one of Eggman's most brilliant creations ever made.

  That is, until Sonic(now known as Reality Metal Sonic) broke free from Eggman's command, and retreated through a portal....

  Little did Sonic know he could return to his normal state and back, and control reality around him...
