Physical Description
Whiplash is a yellow-coated pegasus with an athletic build. Her mane and tail are unkempt and are gradient green colours, ranging from mostly dark to some light tones. She has freckles which disappear after a long time holed up inside or after cloudy days, but quickly re-appear after only a short time in the sun.
Her cutie mark depicts a boomerang-shaped gust of wind, representing her acrobatic flying skills.
Whiplash usually wears a scarf against the cold winds of high altitude flying and adds a sweater and a beanie during the cold months or when making deliveries to the northern edge of Equestria. She sometimes also wears clips that make her ears appear pierced, but she has never gone through with actually getting permanent piercings, since needles freak her out.

Backstory
Whiplash was born in Ponyville, but never knew her birth parents. She was adopted very young, by an earth pony and unicorn couple. Her new parents loved to travel and moved a lot for their respective work, as well, so Whiplash lived and grew up in many places all across Equestria. Since her parents couldn't teach her to fly, she learned from other pegasi her age and occasionally family friends.
When she was still a foal, she tumbled out of a window during a train ride, having briefly lost control of herself as she was gliding through the train car. She might have been stranded far from the next town, if she hadn't noticed the train taking a long curve just ahead. Beating her wings as hard as she could, she not only caught up by cutting straight across the field, but managed to dart straight into one of the windows that were passing by quickly. This display of both skill and ridiculous luck earned her her cutie mark: a boomerang-shaped gust of wind.
Though she has great talent as a flyer, daring stunts are a hobby, not a professional ambition. Instead, when she was old enough to work on her own, she started making deliveries as a mailmare. When she finally moved out from under her parents and found a place of her own, deciding to stay in Canterlot, she signed up with a courier service instead, handling fast direct deliveries.

Personality
Whiplash's life is a constant up and down. On the one hoof, she is a thrill-seeker, she loves the adrenaline rush of pushing herself in flying stunts and sports. On the other, she also loves to nap and take things slow sometimes. Whenever she spends too much time lazing around, she is itching to get out and push herself physically. And whenever she has drained herself of that motivation, she curls up and sleeps the day away.
Whiplash is relaxed and open, with barely any reservations about speaking her mind. On the one hoof, this means she will always be straight-forward about what she wants to say, while easily admitting when she was wrong, too. On the other, it leads her to being blunt and inconsiderate in places, not fully thinking through the consequences of her words. Similarly, she also isn't shy about physical contact and expresses affection mostly through hugs and other touches, which she often has to remind herself isn't comfortable for everypony.
