  1. Before the Magic Duel episode, I was sort of hoping the dev team would make an adaptation on Getting Back On Your Hooves. But then, with the large amount of story on they fanfic, they might've ended up having to use some amount of Adaptation Distilation. And even then, it might take making a 4-part episode just to explain all the essential parts of the story. though I might settle for a version of The Rebirth of Discord that actually takes place after Keep Calm And Flutter On, Which could involve Discord deliberately turning himself into an infant version of himself with his powers radically reduced and most of his memories erased, believing it would help make his reformation easier, especially if his being taken care of by Fluttershy in that form.
  2. I'm sure it's good, but the way you described it makes it the exact opposite of what I've been looking for. Which, as I said before, is a medieval fantasy that's lighter in tone, more idealistic, and is known to end with a happy ending. I'm not asking for a fantasy novel that''s all sunshine and bunnies, just at very least something with noticeably less cynicism in it than Dragon Age or Lord Of The Rings (not including The Hobbit, which I already read).
  3. The 7th storyboard? as part of the intro? I'm no expert on animation (or indeed, anything, except maybe gameplay elements), but don't those kind of intros take up just 3 or 4 storyboards to make? if I remember right they usually just last around 30 seconds.
  4. This can further suggest the 'Temporary Alicorn ascension' theory is correct, either that or the dev team might be delibrately trying to mess with our minds.
  5. Then I think that person should've asked specifically if Twilight is now immortal and/or if she'll outlive all her friends. Given how that's one of the main issues regarding Twilight's ascension to Alicornhood, I find it baffling no one asked that specific question.
  6. I meant the standard fantasy setting when referring to Tolkien-esique, the sort that has a medieval european-esique setting with Elves, Dwarfs, Mages, Dragons, et centra. And when I say 'not a dark fantasy' I mean any fantasy with much less deconstructing of fantasy tropes and less cynism than what Dragon Age and LoTR had in their stories. So far, the closest to I'm looking for is Belgariad, admittingly it doesn't have elves, dwarves or dragons (to my knowledge ayway), but it at least it did medieval with a much more light and idealistic edge to it in comparison to, again, LoTR and Dragon Age. And I already heard that Belgariad, unlike LoTR, ends with a straight happy ending.
  7. Well, if Mr. Ingram knows there are fans they might be planning to leave the fandom, he had to have known Twilight's ascension to Alicornhood was the primary reason, and if he's telling us we won't want to miss out on Season 4, I think it can only mean 2 things; 1) Twilight's alicorn status is indeed temporary and she'll eventually lose it (delibrately or otherwise) somehow in a later episode. 2) The show plans to gives us a very very VERY good reason to want to accept Twilight as an Alicorn, hopefully one that's not forced or contrived (which might be an extremely hard thing to do, considering the show's genre). But it seems like at least they have something planned for it, and even so, I see no reason Hasbro can't still sell the Princess Twilight toy they had planned even after Twilight hypothetically loses her alicorn status in the show, I know they still sell the Royal Wedding merch long after the Season 2 finale.
  8. Okay, this might sound corny and abit cliche, but can anyone recommend me a good Tolkien-esique medieval fantasy novel that ends with a happy ending and is NOT a Dark Fantasy like the Dragon Age franchise?
  9. thank you! at least some of you here is nice enough to give me a straight answer on that topic. Though you could call me stubborn, I still fail to see how Twilight being an Alicorn would fit into some of the reasons you brought up here, the 3rd I'm not gonna count because it seems like little more then executive meddling, having almost nothing to do with the story. 'Making Twilight an alicorn allows for many more episode ideas' I don't really see how, unless the majority of episode concentrate of Twilight, which might come across as contradictory to how cast and crew promised to minimize the impact her transformation has on the show (hence her still living in Ponyville with her friends). And we already saw the large amount of episodes of MLP:FiM we already got and no one in the studio (or Hasbro for that matter) said anything about running out of ideas. Heck, the show's been so keen on world-building you could make several episodes over all the different elements, characters, and places that haven't been explored or addressed yet, you wouldn't even need Twilight to be an Alicorn for any of them. 'It gives Twilight official leadership of the group now, as opposed to unofficial leadership' Now what sense does that make? the show already established Twilight as leader of the Mane 6 from the start, no one said anything about it being unoffficial, nor any need to say it's official, the show never even hints on such a thing being a problem. What need is there to say it's 'official' when it's something we already know about and acknowledge? 'It allows more speculation for the Season 4 pilot' 'In addition, it allows more possibility for the Season 4 pilot' Perhaps, I will say it might be safe to assume this ascension is setting the stage for the Season 4 premiere. though if anything, I still want to hear a very good, non-contrived reason story-wise on why Twilight should stay and Alicorn
  10. the only thing about the whole Twilicorn that I'm still trying to get my head is this; what's the point in making Twilight an Alicorn? change happens in shows, sure, but only for a reason. seriously, I asked that question several times yet no one in this message board, yet none of you have even answered it, all any of you give me are brohoofs, which, while I appreciate, do NOT count as answers to a question.
  11. If the Mane 6 and Spike lived in the Elder Scrolls universe, these are the following races and skills they'd have (for sake of this list I'll use the Oblivion customization options) Twilight Sparkle- Imperial with all Magic-based skills Applejack- Nord who specializes in blunt weapons (axes to be exact), heavy armor, and athletics. Rainbow Dash- a Dunmer (or Dark Elf) who specializes in light armor, blade weapons, acrobatics, and archery. Rarity- an Altmer (or High Elf) who specializes in hand-to-hand, Illusion magic, lockpicking, sneaking, and mercantile. Pinkie Pie- a Nord or Khajiit who specializes in speechcraft, blunt weapons (maces and warhammers), light armor, and arcobatics. Fluttershy- a Bosmer (or Wood Elf) who specializes in all non-combat skills. Spike- an Argonian who specializes in blade weapons, Destruction and Alteration magic, and Heavy Armor. in a more in-universe note: -Celestia and Luna are actually the only immortal Alicorns in existance, and have accomplished this through years of extensive and complicated arcane modification (hope this will helpsome people deal with Alicorn Twilight) -Scootaloo's special talent will involve manuverability and when she becomes able to fly, where she'd lack Rainbow Dash's speed and endurance, Scootaloo will greatly surpass all pegasi in the use of incredible flexibility and manuverablity in flight, allowing her to do various tricks that not even the best Wonderbolts are able to match.
  12. Nooo, Twilight's destiny involves magic in general, if it was to be an Alicorn, we would've seen her as a blank flank up 'till the Season 3 finale. I'm still trying to look for a good reason to enforce Twilight staying an Alicorn, but so far I'm heard nothing from anyone, I hear some people say its a good thing, but they never say why, they don't even give any hypothetical non-contrived senarios where it would be important for Twilight to keep her Alicorn status. Even Twilight's voice actor, Tara Strong, only said that her being an Alicorn is a good thing 'because she can do more stuff' like what? you never brought up any new abilites except that Twilight can fly, and even that makes me say; "so what? Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy can already fly, so what's the point in throwing in an extra set of wings?" that would be like if when writing the X-Men, Marvel Studios decided "Hey, Nightcrawler here has blue skin and teleportation powers, maybe we should also give Cyclops blue skin and teleportation as well as his optic laser blasts!" Does that sound like good writing to anyone?
  13. I'll say this much by asking this one question I'm hoping someone would relay to Tara Strong; Will Twilight be immortal as an Alicorn and therefore outlive her friends? if the answer is no, I think that could be enough to help us roll with it. But my previous question on the issue still remains; Why should Twilight stay an Alicorn? what reasons story-wise does the show have that they should keep her that way? "same Twilight but can do more stuff", like what? fly? so can Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy! so what's the point in giving Twilight wings? change does happen in show, but it should only happen for a reason, and I have yet to see a reason for Twilight to stay an Alicorn. okay, I'm probubly ranting at the moment, but you see my point? can the any of the cast and crew tell us why Twilight should stay and Alicorn? can anyone in this message board give a good reason? if so, I'd strongly appreciate a reply here. 'Cause I still see no reason why Twilight shouldn't be turned back into a unicorn later.
  14. Well, at very least, what we do know about Season 4 does keep the whole "Temporary Alicorn" theory up in the air. anti-Alicorn Twilight fans, feel free to cross your fingers, especially since it's one of the few things we humans can do that even Alicorns can't.
  15. To be honest, when I watched that Magical Mystery Cure episode, I ended up less bothered by Twilight becoming an Alicorn as I thought I'd be. however, I still remain skeptical about it because I don't think the show gave any reason for us to want Twilight to be an Alicorn nor any reason story-wise to tell us why she should remain one (especially since Celestia and Luna clearly have been running the country just fine without her). though if this transformation is indeed temporary, I'd be fine with it, at least the the fans that detest the idea won't have to resort to those fan edits I suggested in previous threads.
  16. I'll be frank, I did enjoy this episode more than I thought I might. And it's clear that the whole Twilight becoming an Alicorn didn't bother me as much as I feared, heck, the last few minutes of the episode seemed to strongly imply Twilight won't be separated from her friends at least. HOWEVER, I'm still left unconvinced keeping her an Alicorn is the best way to go, the episode didn't give any reason why she should be one and not have her remain strictly a unicorn. plus none of the aspects of being an Alicorn have even been addressed (ala immortality, royal duties, etc), so unless the show a good reason to keep her an Alicorn story-wise, I remain hoping for a future episode where she eventually changes back. For good measure though, I suggest those of us who have any editing software be prepared to post Season 4 episodes where Twilight's wings and royal accessories are erased, any dialogue regarding the status edited out, and any scenes of her flying involve adding a magic aura to suggest self-telekinesis in place of wings. You know, in case there are still those among us that still detest Alicorn Twilight. For good measure though, any MLP fanfics I do will strictly portray Twilight as a regular Unicorn and disregard her princess status. Bottom line though; I'm somewhat unbothered by Alicorn Twilight, but I remain unconvinced it should stay that way, and I'm certain there are still fans who are still against the idea.
  17. I also have the head-canon thought that adoption is actually a popular practice among Equestrian ponies. Some reports among Equestrian reporters and surveyors suggests that many female Ponies that don't have any interest in persuing a relationship yet have a desire to raise children, though personal reasons for it tend to vary. Statistical surveys suggest that when adopting, an adult Pony would look for the youngest orphan availible, so any orphaned infant or toddler Ponies tend to be quickly adopted, sometimes just after being orphaned, though the frequency of adoptions makes orphans in Equestria exceptionally rare.
  18. I have yet another idea on how anti-alicorn Twilight fans can deal with the situation. If you have any good editing and/or dubbing software, I recommend taking any and all post-Season 3 episodes and erasing Alicorn Twilight's wings and any royal accessories she wears in said episodes. If Twilight is given a scene where she flies, simply using said editing software to make it look like she's using telekinesis, or even cut out her flying scenes entirely if they're not important to the overall story. I'd suggest not worrying about the rest of her figure though, I think as long as Twilight looks like a regular unicorn we can tolerate the idea of her looking slightly taller and skinnier. That sound decent enough?
  19. I still remain convinced that the whole Twilight becoming an alicorn thing will end up being strictly temporary. But if it doesn't come to even that, I have a few tips on how to deal with it if you're anti-alicorn Twilight that still likes the show. 1) use the awesomes powers of fanon discontinuity to disregard any and all post-Season 3 episodes until the people behind the show ultimately decides to remove Twilight's alicorn status at any point in the show. 2) if you're like me and prefer to watch MLP episodes on Youtube, just put your fingers up on the screen to cover her wings (or fast forward past any points where she'd be flying) and pretend you're not seeing anything alicorn-related on her. As for me myself, I admit I have trouble stomaching the idea of Twilight becoming an Alicorn, why? well, here's my question to any and all pro-Alicorn Twilight fans; Why should Twilight be an Alicorn? How would harm the show in any way if Twilight stayed simply the humble librarian who's learning about friendship from start to finish? How would it harm the show if Twilight simply wrote the aforementioned magic she needs to reverse the mistake she made, learned another lesson in the end, and simply moved on from here? How would it harm the show if the focus was on the Mane 6 in general as it was throughout the majority of the show? I'm not entirely closed off to the idea, I simply want to find a very, very, VERY, good and non-contrived reason to want to accept this, and so far I found nothing.
  20. I personally had a somewhat different head-canon where Dragons age faster when their greed is consistantly indulged throughout their lives, their their livespan actually slightly below that of humans. 'Virtuous' dragons, like Spike however, who live their lives with their greeds consistantly in check age alot slower, and actually would live a radically longer livespan on par with, or perhaps even surpassing that of Equestrians (with Spike possibly already out-living at least some 'Greedy' dragons in his life) I also have the head-canon thought that there's a legend that 'Virtuous' Dragons are actually very numerous and have their own thriving civilization considered more advanced and enlightened than even contemporary Equestria. But the location of this Virtuous Dragon nation (if it even exists) remains a mystery. But there are theories among Equestrian scholars that Virtuous Dragons would delibrately keep their existance a secret to protect themselves from the violent Greedy Dragons who might attack them for their abundance of resources.
  21. Okay, for those that don't know, Head-canon is a term where fans fill in certain blanks in a story's canon. though this TV Tropes article probubly explains it better: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Fanon?from=Main.HeadCanon but anyway, does anyone here have any head-canon theories or ideas they'd like to share. I'll bring up my foremost one in that Ilike to believe that Equestrians live radically longer than humans. Consider how for example Ponyville has been around for centuries, yet Granny Smith herself said she was there went the town was getting started. Some people I know think of this as a continuity error, but I think my theory is abit more interesting.
  22. I personally actually don't think it's gonna happen, not for long anyway, why? Well, I think I just figured something out. this episode where Twilight is supposedly gonna turn into an Alicorn, check out this summary: "Twilight accidentally casts a spell that switches the Cutie Marks and destinies of all her friends. The only way she can reverse the spell is by writing her own magic." This could just be part of the result of her aforementioned spell, so chances are she'll reject the idea of being an Alicorn (not wanting to outlive or leave her friends, plus showing no desire in becoming royalty in previous episodes) and use this newfound power to help her create her own spell to reverse the process.
