  1. I have no doubt that Pinkie Pie has some influence in Ponyville.  But I think it's more like a "keep things interesting"  sort of thing than anything else.  She takes it upon herself to cheer up anypony she sees who might be sad or upset, and spends most of her time making people laugh, but you could say the same thing for any "village fool."  She also has a tendency to disrupt the flow of the day and generally cause a "FRACAS!" every now and then.

If you want to talk about the "heart and soul" of Ponyville though, then you'd have to talk about sweet apple acres and the apple family. According to Granny Smith, Ponyville had grown from around her family's homestead and the products and produce they made.

I don't doubt that Pinke Pie is very well liked though. Just look at how eager ponyville citizens were to join her in song. I doubt she is responsible for keeping everypony happy, but she is able to make ponies happy again fairly quickly.

  2. Very much yes.  I love Zecora's character, and personally believe that it hasn't been completely defined as of yet.  Plus I would like to know how she is able to do magic.

start the video at 28 seconds to see what I mean.

  3. Not sure about Nightlight, but I think Twilight Velvet comes from the blind bag toys.   Probably the next best thing we have other than the show in terms of canonicity.

I actually got both of their names off of an MLP:FIM wiki.  It seems the easiest thing to call both of them.  So if anybody has anything official, I'd be happy to make corrections.

I also think they must be high status pony parents, considering they live in canterlot and everything. They definitely seem better parents than pinkie pie's .

Well, that's a little mean to dear old pinkie pie! but status is an iffie thing, especially when its about a place like canterlot.  Most of the background ponies I've seen in canterlot have been unicorns.  True, it is the capital of Equestria, but what is to say that Nightlight and Twilight Velvet aren't your average middle class parents?

  4. I had a little bit of misgivings at first.  But then I imagined Twilight Sparkle repeatedly crash landing while she was learning how to fly.  But truthfully I didn't have that much of an opinion. I still don't.  I suppose it has to do with the fact that I never believed the show revolved around twilight sparkle alone.  I'll develope one  when season 4 starts though.  I'm prone to being a bit optimistic.

  5. Well, I admit I am surprised.  It takes a lot to write all that and display it on a forum.  Being one of the first ones to argue about this, I have to say that what offended me more than anything else was how closed minded you seemed, as well as how hard you seemed to try to convince everybody that your opinion was the right one.  Worse still when I could tell that you really were getting angry over this.  That level of obsession is never healthy.

The truth is, we can't know for certain how Alicorn twilight will affect the over all feel of the show.  What happened to twilight is relatively small, when you think about it. I mean, yes she is a very important character, seemingly the main character  for season 1.  But between season 2 and 3, there were 5 episodes where she didn't show up at all. Twilight's change will change things, but nowhere near as drastically as you may have thought. If it is a good or a bad thing, nobody really knows yet.

So here is what I'm gonna do:  when season 4 starts, I'm  just going to watch it expecting it to be like any other MLP episode: a group of close friends learning about life and friendship together.

  6. Their names are Velvet and Nightlight? I never knew that.

I think they were just lucky, I don't think it was their parenting skills. I think they just happened to have two talented children.

Well, the mother's full name is Twilight Velvet, but I just call her Velvet since people refer to Twilight Sparkle as just plain "Twilight."

I think they have had some of a hand in it.  They were the ones who choose to enroll Twilight in magic school in the first place. If they hadn't, Celestia and Twilight might not have met.

  7. I mean, just look at these two:  Between their kids they got a heck of a lot to brag about.  With their "captain of the gaurd" son turned prince and "student of Celestia" daughter turned princess, it really makes me wonder just what Velvet's and Nightlight's parenting techniques were like. Granted, I do know that after a certain point that it is more about the choices their children make, but  parents do have a hand in what kind of ponies Shinging and Sparkle turned into.

What does everybody think?  Are these the faces of the greatest parents in Equestria, did they get lucky, or did they put something special into the morning feed?

  8. I personally believe that neither of them are truely immortal. But they are special none the less.  The fact that luna was able to live for so long in the moon is proof enough.  I think it more has to do with magic than her status as an Alicorn.  Those on the show with the most magic are the ones who seem to have lived in ancient times, they being Celestia, Luna, Discord, and Sombra.

  9. Another familiar response. Not doing this song and dance any longer, at least not with you. My opinion is that Twilicorn should stay for a good while and I am sticking to that. I see many different possibilities.

By the way, here is the other topic that you started.

    http://mlpforums.com/topic/49885-season-four-premiere-predictions-spoiler/

Agreed.  I'm tired of you posting new topics time and time again on the same thing.  I've reported you about this ponyshep. Not for the first time either.  If anybody agrees, feel free to follow suite.

  10. If you're talking about "horse" like, the ones most resembling horses in my opnion and the sadle arabia delegates.  Alicorns are really just a special breed of ponies.

I don't believe alicorns are "gods" either.  Sure, you've got be some kind of special to be an alicorn, but they're not gods.  I do believe Celestia and Luna are special though, even by alicorn standards, if there is such a thing.  The fact that Celestia has lived for so long without aging visibly is a pretty good sign.  Cadance has shown that she ages when you see how different her character model is in the flashbacks. Its not hard for me to see Celestia and Luna sort of in their own class, but we need to know more to make anything certain.

  11. Everyone has good points, from what I can see.  Putting the whole "Royalty" thing aside, good reasons for introducing a colt alicorn would be:

    Possible story elements

May give some insight on the past of Celestia and Luna

Expand the alicorn mythos in the series

Nice to see what one would look like

    arguments against, however:

Introducing more makes them seem less special

learning more about them takes away from some of their charms

could possibly over complicate certain aspects of the show.

more than likely it would end up as just another secondary character not used all that often.

Eeeeyup, personally I am still torn.  If they make it a big deal  its more than likely that it'd go bad, but if only in a flashback it could be nice.

  12. Ah, forgot about him. In one fell swoop you've completely destroyed my previous comment.

I don't really know much about Blueblood either, maybe he was just there for the purpose of the episode.

lol, sorry about destroying your comment.  But Blueblood does turn up again in "sweet and elite" alongside Rarity at the dedication of the airship.

  13. Put like this, it would be easy to get the wrong idea of how Hasbro portray Royalty as 'Above You'.

That is, however, if you completely disregard the Season 3 Finale. Up until then, it seemed you had to be physically royal.

Prince Blueblood.  Not an Alicorn, still royalty.  A bit of a jerk too, the way he treated Rarity in "Best night ever."  I'm still not sure how he can be Celestia's nephew.  The only way that would happen is if Luna was his mother, and she'd been in the moon for a thousand years prior to season one.

  14. There's also Sheriff Silverstar in that epic pie war between Appaloosa and the buffalo tribe. He's kind of underrated considering he had plenty of appearances and dialogue in that episode.

True.  I do like his character, but he's not related to the mane six, nor does he live in ponyville, or have any real reason to interact with the regular characters.  He could come back with Braeburn, though.  I'll add him to the list.

  15. Lets see, other colts that were mentioned,  well there's:

    Snips

    Snails

    Flim

    Flam

    Hoity Toity

    Filthy Rich

    Soarin

    Fancy Pants

    Joe

    Sombra

    Blueblood

    Featherweight

    Pipsqueak

    Mr. Carrot Cake

    Poundcake

    Dumb-bell

    Hoops

    Score

    Clyde(Pinkie pie's father)

    Thunderlane

    Rumble

    Snowflake

    Sheriff Silverstar(Added)

    Uncle Orange

    Pokey Oaks(granny smith's father)

    Magnum(rarity's dad)

    Stinking Rich

    Apple Strudel

    Hayseed Turnip Truck

    Nightlight(twilight's father)

Rainbolt(What I'm calling Rainbow Dash's father featured in the flashback in "games ponies play)(added)

Most of these guys could only remotely be considered relevant. those that weren't secondary characters either had small speaking parts, were present at important moments, or were a part of important flash backs.

In the end though, it seems the most likely candidates for their own episodes would be Big Mac and Shining Armor

  16. Poniesforfun brought this up in a different topic and I thought I'd come out and ask everyone.  Which colt do you want to see star in their own episode of My Little Pony? I myself love Big Macintosh, and want to see more about how good of a big brother he was while Applejack was growing up.   I'd also like to see him meet and make friends with Shining Armor.  Those two always struck me like they'd make good friends.

  17. I think it's because, MAGIC, *Snort snort*.

most alicorns shown don't really, use their wings much. They just use the magic mostly. And somehow having wings makes their magic stronger or something, I guess.

Zecora isn't a unicorn, and she can do magic.  Twilight asked her to train her in "Magic Duel". It's only easier for unicorns to use magic than other ponies.

  18. Pretty straight forward.  the alicorn species is, as it stands, is a straight up egg farm.  Does any one think it would be interesting to see a horned, winged colt on the show?  Do you think it would it be a big event or a nothing special sort of thing?  I'm indifferent at the moment, but it might be interesting how an alicorn colt would interact with the other alicorns on the show.
