This is a really tough one for me because I love the episode as a whole there are just a few things that stick out to me that could have been done better. First I think the writing was great even when it felt a bit forced at the beginning. I feel like the intent of the whole thing was to lead to the crossover rather than explore any kind of relationship with the ponies in ponyville. This is why I believe the writing was lack luster in the beginning and felt like it was dragging. But honestly that’s all I can really point out about the story being done better. Over all I loved the cross over and I understand what the team was trying to do. The cameos were great and made me smile the whole time. But in terms of the actual story, it was lack luster in my opinion. 6/10 The music I thought was terrific and was right up there with any MLP episode to date. Music was spot on with characters and made sense in the grand scheme. 10/10 The animation was not perfect. There were a couple of spots I think could have been cleaned up but overall I can tell that the team really put in the hours to make it shine. The glitter was there for me. 8.5/10 The sound effects and voice acting was where it really disappointed me. I won’t comment on the quality of the voice actors as they are not professional and I think they did a good job with what they had. The sound effects didn’t pop like they should have in my mind. They were a little dull and flat with the overall soundscape feeling two dimensional. But the big problem I had when it comes to sound is the echo in Rainbow Dash’s voice over. During the first two minutes of the video it is blatantly obvious next to Twilights voice. I don’t know if they used a different mic or where in a different room recording but it sounds like she’s in a submarine and is very distracting. I really don’t know why this happened either as Twilight’s voice over is very well done. The echo goes and returns through out the episode and it frustrates me as it was something that could have been easily avoided. It is possible that the actress voicing Rainbow sent in voice recordings from across the internet and was using a personal mic. This would explain the difference in sound quality compared to Twilight. I just wish they had spotted this and tried to fix it as it will be something everyone points to because it is so obvious. 5/10 Please remember that this is an overly critical review and I loved the video overall and think that the director has done a great job in what he has put out. I in no way am trying to bring him down I just think it’s good to put out some constructive criticism. I will definitely be sharing this video and wish him the best in his future of which looks very bright. Overall Score 8/10

Possible disabled pony episode on the way!
Benna replied to Sir.Flutter Hooves's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I don't think we need to take Scootaloo's wings away I think its more like she just can't use them to fly. Like when you clip a birds wings so they can't escape your house or whatever. I like the fact that she can't fly. It makes her unique like Derpy, They are both one of a kind ponies. Who else in ponyville or Equestria for that matter can shread like Scootaloo! -

Although it would be nice to see this happen but I wouldn't hold my breath. It would change the show a little to much. This could work in a show like Adventure Time where minor characters can have episodes devoted to them with out disrupting the show to much but this would require a lot of set up unfortunately. -

Possible disabled pony episode on the way!

She was never intended in the first place. She was noticed by a fandom and not created by the writers. So her eyes were never intended to be used as a comedic element. She simply is what she is. People who think her eyes are there for comedy are the same people who caused this controversy in the first place. Finally the reason I added IMO at the end of my post is to infer sarcasm at her being a part of the main 6. That is all I'm going say about that because its not worth arguing about. Good day to you sir. -

The biggest problem I have with getting rid of things like Scootaloo's wing disability and Derpy is that it is basically trying to ignore the disabled in our world. Like many people do in real life they pretend that these people don't exist either out of pity or because they don't know how to act around them. This is precisely why we have discrimination in the first place. We need to teach kids and adults alike that people with disabilities are just that they are people first and not just disabled. Unfortunately many adults are not ready for this message and they see a cartoon portraying this type of message as offensive. I know this has all been said before but...ug it’s just disheartening you know? Anyway I love the show and will fight to my dying breath over this topic. -

I saw this post as well and the idea of Derpy being brought back into the spotlight got me all giddy. I'm wearing a shirt with her on it right now!!!! I doubt this will be the case though since she is controversial and all. Plus I don't think the writers have the horse apples to take on the soccer moms again. Scootaloo is a better possibility as it has been said before that her wings don't work correctly by Faust (I'm Paraphrasing.) Maybe we will get to see where Scootaloo lives and what her parents are like. This brings up another interesting point though. As the writers begin to deal with more sensitive topics like disabilities the shows overall feel could change. For better or for worse. But ultimately it opens up the possibility of Alicorn Twilight to deal with more sensitive topics like pony welfare and kingdom management now that she is a princess. With more responsibilities the stakes are higher putting more stress on Twilight to succeed or ponies could be hurt more than just emotionally Pretty much could blow the show wide open or completely destroy it. In any case should be interesting to see what happens. On a side note I was thinking about this today. Why is Goofy from the Disney series considered OK and Derpy is considered offensive when they both have almost the same character type. I'm sure this has been brought up just saying... -

Finding Love vs Letting Love Find Us?
Benna replied to ~Master~ Button Mash's topic in General Discussion
I agree you can't play the game if your not on the field (terrible I know). Just remember to chose your situations wisely. Go do things you like to do! That way you meet people with similar interests. I have gone out to bars and parties and I, personally, don't like those scenes But that is just me. I would prefer to hang out at a friends house with a small group rather than a large party or at a bar. Its not because of the amount of people because I love concerts and stuff. It just feels more intimate and I don't know casual I guess.- 43 replies

Finding Love vs Letting Love Find Us?
Benna replied to ~Master~ Button Mash's topic in General Discussion
Wow this thread caught my attention and I'm glad I joined it. I have read all the posts and it seems the general consensus is that you have to put some kind of effort in to finding "the one" but what i think we need to talk about what kind of effort we should be putting in. Should you have to go around and be aggressive to find your special some pony and how aggressive should you be in your seeking? In my experience it has always been best to live your life as you see fit and be yourself all the time regardless of if people make fun of you or not. I'm 24 and have had four girlfriends in my life and each have said that they were attracted to me because of my personality and honesty (no bragging just saying). I am always myself and never compromise my beliefs or way of life for anyone. This has made me plenty of friends as well as enemies What I am trying to say is that if you are honest with yourself and everyone around you people will be naturally attracted to you. And the people who want to be near you will complement you and your personality. Not only that you will make lifetime friends. Hey, you might not be super popular but you will have people around you who are worth having around. Soon one person will rise above the rest and that will be your special some pony. My stance is passive aggressive. Your passive in that you are not trying to find that person and aggressive in the way that you live. Thats the way I have lived my life and it has worked out pretty ok. BTW I'm single not don't know it that makes this post moot lol. In regards to the thread this thread was created in response to I believe online dating is completely legitimate It all depends on what you are looking for and what your personal situation is.- 43 replies

Season 3 Finale Opinions: What would you change?
Benna replied to Sir.Flutter Hooves's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
For me I would love to see a detailed story arc for Pinkie. I really feel that all her arcs are simple and short because she is seen as a simple pony but that isn't the case. For one the episode "Party of One" shows she has some deep seated mental problems and that she draws her reason for life based on her friends. Wiith out them she falls apart showing how truly fragile she is. And if you can't tell shes my favorite lol. The one thing that I would really like to see is have twilight step out of the spotlight for season 4 and focus on the other ponies. Develope their characters and give them interesting challenges to overcome. Fingers crossed -

I subscribe to a channel with 1080p uploads 1 hour after release. I assume they are recording it through their cable provider and then riping it off the hard drive or something along those lines. As for the ads... Idk really if they make any money at all. From what I understand you have to have like 10,000 views to make anything worth noting. -

Do you honestly believe it was about toy sales?
Benna replied to Bucky McGillyCuddy's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I would have to say it wasn’t about toy sale but more about the writing staff trying to create an identity for themselves. Seems to me the decision to change Twilight to an Alicorn came after Faust left the team and she has stated that the Alicorn development was not her original path for the story when she started the series up. (I’m paraphrasing) So this lead me to believe that the decision to go down this particular path story wise is based on the writing staff trying to create an identity for the show of their own making particularly in controlling the overall arc of the show. But that’s just my humble opinion. -

I don’t know if someone has posted this or not but is there anyone else who thinks this alicorn transformation is going to be temporary. Only a theory but since twilight’s transformation was unprecedented isn’t it possible that the transformation is temporary and as she uses her powers her alicorn “state” will deteriorate. I know I am kind of reaching just something to think about. Also I felt that the whole episode felt rushed. This statement can be extended to the whole season in general. Many different plot advances happened in season three. I think that after Faust left the writers switched gears in a sense to drive to a more overarching plot rather than an episodic one. For me season three is simply a segue between season 2 and 4. I am personally excited about twilights transformation as it steers the show in a new direction full of possibilities. I also don’t believe that it makes her a Mary Sue type character. I believe that it opens even more possibilities for failure in her life as her responsibilities have multiplied exponentially.

Hello all, So this is my first MLP forum and I'm kind of unsure how to do this so forgive me if I don't follow the conventional way of doing things because of my newbieness. Ok so I am a 24 year old male living in Riverside California. I love surfing, playing guitar, and all kinds of video games from 3DS to Xbox 360 and everything in between. I'm currently attending La Sierra University at the graduate level majoring in Theological Studies. I plan to become a Navy Chaplin after my schooling is finished in around two years from now. I found the show through the game Team Fortress 2 by viewing wall sprays that people would spam. My curiosity was instantly peaked as the art style captured my heart. Considering all I knew about the show was what it looked like from a spray in Team Fortress 2 its amazing that I sought out the show (for those of you who don't play the game porn sprays are pretty common and yes there were some of those for MLP that I was forced to view). The show reminded my of my childhood favorite the Powerpuff Girls so I typed my little pony into Google and began reading the wiki page. To my surprise I found that the creator of MLP worked on the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. So I said to myself "Self you should give this show a shot." And so I did. Admittedly I did not love the show out of the gate. I started watching about two weeks out from the premier of season 2 of MLP. The first two episodes were a shock to the system. I was expecting a little girls show but because of the large male following of the show as well as Faust being a part of it I expected something more along the lines of the Powerpuff Girls. Truthfully I almost stopped watching ten minutes into the first episode but thankfully I pressed on. By episode six I was in love with the show as the characters began to develop and I have watched the show ever since loving every minute. What draws me into the show is the humor that has made me smile as well as outright laugh. But the characters are what makes the show for me. My favorite is Pinkie Pie because I feel very akin to her random behavior and love of laughter. I believe that everyone should live their lives the way Pinkie lives hers. Even though I have watched the show for a long time I have never really signed on to forums or discussed episodes with fans. This is because I was hesitant about being a fan and honestly kind of embarrassed about it in general. Unfortunately I don't know anyone in real life who loves the show as much as me. They know of it but really don’t watch the episodes or are able to intelligently talk about them. So I kind of stayed quite about my love of the show until about three months ago. I finally told my brother about liking the show and that he should check it out. He outright refused and called me queer (don’t take offence we joke like that). So I didn’t push the issue and began talking about the show with my sister who grew up with previous generations. She was skeptical but opened up after seeing the show and loves the ponies now albeit she doesn’t really watch the show (bandwagon). So she bought me a shirt that I love with ponies on it (pony in my pocket from we love fine if you know it) and I guess I kind of came out to my parents. My dad refuses to talk about it and my mom says its cool but I doubt she even understands what she is saying. After this I went on to buy a pass to Equestria LA (if anyone is going I would love to meet up with people so I wont be alone wandering O.O) and make an account here on this site. I am tired of being out of the loop of the bronies. I want to talk about MLP with fans. I want to write a fan fic (good or not). I want to make music (again good or not). I want to be a part of the conversation in general because I love the show and the people who love it seem pretty awesome. So that went on longer than I expected but I guess it was pretty nice to get though out of the system. So you guys know my experience now and how I came to this website. I look forward to talking with all of you and hope that I can add something to the conversation that is My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic.
