Another thing, I have heard that hasbro barely gives anybody who makes a show out of their IPs much creative control. This was confirmed to happen to the crew of friendship is magic during the last 2 seasons.

I've been out of the loop since 2016 and I've only just got back to the fandom. Do you have a source for this? I just want to know.

  2. RD already outperforms every other pony in Ponyville and, although she's really nice to everyone she's already got an ego the size of a small South American country so how much more annoying would she be if she suddenly developed super powers? Also, she can already fly fast enough to break the sound barrier! That's over 760 miles an hour! If she went any faster than she already does she'd burn up in the atmosphere! lol!

Nah, I think a Super Rainbow Dash just isn't a good idea because: reasons. (Pretty much everyone else gave good reasons why not so I don't feel like I have to list any more here.)

Yeah, reasons which, as much as I respect them and all, sound unfortunately stupid. So stupid that I had to counterpoint them: http://super-rainbow-dash-z.deviantart.com/journal/The-eye-opening-Super-Dash-rant-427255105

A lot of you, btw, act like this is going to be a permanent thing, regarding both transformations. They aren't, as this type of thing would only make sense in the season openers and finales when they're fighting these big threats such as Tirek and Discord. If these transformations would be used willy-nilly in the slice of life episodes, then yes, it would be unfitting. But the writers are much smarter than that, and I trust that they won't make this mistake.

Even so, though, who's to say that having a super form doesn't come with its own lessons to learn? It does, And since you fear that Dash will be so arrogant, well, all the more reasons to make her be like that, since there's a bunch of topics on here asking, "Is ________ a Mary Sue?" It makes her more flawed and more realistic that way.

Ah, but then again, a bunch of you are against adventure episodes anyway and only focus on the slice-of-life aspect. So yeah, I'm probably just wasting my time here. =/

  3. Still at it, I see. Even though it was since August that this thread was last bumped up.

Welp. Even though you were against it, you still got it anyway, even though it's not exactly the white Super Dash that you were familiar with, but that of Rainbow Powered Dash. Despite your disagreements, Hasbro went with it anyway.

I don't like the Rainbow Power designs myself, but they're there in the season 4 finale. And from the sounds of it, looks like they're hyping up season 5 to be more epic than before, so who knows? Maybe the white Super Dash could be canon for real this time.

Either way, in regards to a super form in general for Dash, know that you guys are in the minority here, as there are a lot of people out there who are in support of both Dash transformations. Whether you acknowledge that or not is entirely up to you.

  4. Really, with the Rainbow Power forms, the only thing left for the writers to do is to create a new villain whose power-levels match the Rainbow Power.  And, in order to do that, he/she would need to hail from an alternate dimension or planet where the magic is enough to match even the Rainbow Power, and can even blow-up entire planets a la the Death Star and the majority of DBZ villains.

    In other words, Spectacle Creep:

And, according to that video I posted, when you resort to increasing the stakes to the breaking point, you run out of ideas on what to do with your story and resort to cheap, unoriginal tactics to keep the story going.  Dragon Ball Z suffered from that problem, as it was marred by long, draggy, repetitive fights that lasted too many chapters/episodes, and supporting characters getting stuffed in the refrigerator over and over and over and over again.

But, if I were to find some good in the Rainbow Power, it's that at the very least, it made Twilight's friends relevant again, right after that stupid fight scene between Twilight and Tirek, that tossed aside all notions of friendship between Twilight and her friends, for the sake of over-the-top violence and spectacle.

So, say if Rainbow Dash recieved all of the Rainbow Power from her friends and becomes what you see in my sig to combat this more powerful antagonist... Would it still suffer, IYO?

'Cause it really wouldn't if season 5 turns out to be the final season. You never know. =/

  5. Less sparkles.  That's a start.

Then how about we use some colors that actually go with the character's natural color scheme.

    • Rainbow Dash is fine.
    • Applejack is okay, but would look better with ultramarine or liberty instead of pink.
    • Rarity should have resolution blue and goldenrod.
    • Pinkie would look much better with avocado, melon, and cyber yellow.
    • Fluttershy is a little tough; but vivid violet, lavender, and Islamic green should do.
    • Twilight could use munshell instead of white.

    Satisfied?

So all that, with their coat colors as normal?

Perhaps I should've clarified my stance. For you see, the golden rule of designing a good Super form that wows everybody is this: change their coat colors or else. As you can see with Super Dash in my sig below.

Oh, and btw, saying that MLP is not like Sonic/DBZ in opposition against Super Dash or Rainbow Power is, quite plainly, a poor reason, IMO. Especially when the season 4 finale goes against that reason in the first place.

  6. As I've said earlier, I may have been the one that might have influenced Hasbro to come up with Rainbow Power. During the past two years, I've been pretty much endlessly promoting my concept of Super Rainbow Dash in the hopes that Hasbro would notice her and canonize her into the show in the same vein that that they've been taking our pony names and ideas and then making them official. For some reason, they didn't and came up with their own concept, that being Rainbow Power.

IMHO, as a Super form enthusiast, I have to say that their designs are underwhelming. To me, they'e not really Super forms if their coats remain the same as normal. You can't just enlarge their manes, slap their cutie marks all over them, and call it a day. No, that is just really poor and lazy, IMO, and doesn't really make you go, "Wow."

Frankly, I'm surprised that in a DBZ-inspired episode, they didn't really go the extra mile and change their colors... I dunno, maybe they will in the future. Maybe this is just "tier 1" of their power. Maybe Dash will go white. *shrug*

Only time will tell, I guess.

  7. Hey! What happened to the SUPER SAIYAN HAIR that was supposed to be implimented for rainbow dash?

    attachicon.gifimages (14).jpg

I was going to mention this, but you beat me to it. =P

Really, we should be voting for these, instead. But other than a couple of in-store shots, seems like Hasbro is keeping the true form of these Rainbow Power transformations under wraps for now. We'll most likely see them in the season finale.

Now if only their coats would change colors as well...

  8. All I know is that I hope to Celestia all this rainbows stuff isn't leading to that "rainbow powers" gunk that's being sold by Hasbro.

Unfortunately, it most likely will. IIRC, Princess Cadence was being sold and advertised way before season 2's finale aired, and we got a smaller-scale leak of alicorn Twilight before they officially announced her. Ah yeah, and Sunset Shimmer was out in the open before EqG was announced.

So while, IMO, the Rainbow Power designs are still underwhelming compared to my own Super Dash and even though I was disappointed, I have come to accept them as the "Super Sonic" of MLP FiM. That is, IF they are super transformations. So as much as some of you hated the idea of a super transformation last year, we're getting them. No offense, btw.

Besides, having super forms is a nice needed change from the one-hit-and-your-down Harmony Blaster of old. It means that the ponies will actually struggle against the antagonists while staying powered up. Especially when you have Rainbow Powered Rainbow Dash's mane looking like a Super Saiyan 3. Now I admit, she does look cool like that. =P (But still pales in comparison to my own Super form design for her, really.)

  9. *sigh* Copypasta'd from the other brony forum I lurk on:

    Ahem.

Guys, I may have been indirectly responsible for this, just as the masses of human fanart were responsible for Hasbro's decision to do Equestria Girls.

For you see, since 2011, I've been pushing Super Rainbow Dash, a Super Sonic-inspired concept of mine, out there. You may have seen me posting about it here a long while back, btw, only to end up getting ridiculous responses that I didn't quite agree with. Well, at first, I originally intended for her to just be a Sonic crossover in which she uses the Chaos Emeralds, but after seeing numerous fan concepts such as Dr. Whooves going canon, well, I decided to test my luck and see if I could get Super Dash canon as well. In trying to do this, I had to commission and request a LOT of fanart of her from artists, I had to change her so she uses the Elements to transform instead, and building upon that, I had to begin writing this fic in the hopes of getting it on EqD, which I haven't achieved... yet.

All that just to get Hasbro's attention. As a result of doing all of that, btw, Super Dash's popularity grew. I've seen a lot of fanart being done without my knowledge, a bunch of montage videos were posted on YouTube, and two animations of her were made.

So while its not what I wanted, its likely that Hasbro saw all of that and were influenced to come up with their own transformation for all of the Mane Six. And to be frank, I'm underwhelmed by their designs (even with Dash's SSJ3 mane)... IF this is, indeed, their idea of a super form, that is, which we don't know yet for sure.

So in the end, if there's anybody to blame for this, its (probably) me. =/

  10. ...Well, darn. If this is Hasbro's idea of a higher transformation, then it looks pretty underwhelming. =/

Not to mention that it makes them look more girly than before, which is what Faust was against.

As was sort of said, I hope this isn't in the season 4 finale.

  11. Found this site a few months ago via a Google search for Super Rainbow Dash, a concept of which I am responsible for. I wanted to see what other people really thought of my popular concept, only to see a topic on here that was on Google that asked people whether Super Dash was stupid or not.

Honestly, the reactions in that topic were full of nonsensical reasons that I heavily disagree with, but nonetheless, I still respect their opinions.

  12. Um, why are people thinking this is the end for the Elements? With the box, it seems to be a little hasty to be jumping to that conclusion already.

Look, I'm just as tired of the Harmony Blaster being used over and over, but that doesn't mean they can't do differently with the Elements themselves. There's so many different ways they could use them, really, and I'd prefer that way instead of getting rid of them altogether and calling it a day.

    Seriously, think about it.

  13. Could be worse you know... they could be like the chaos emeralds, give them all super glowly forms that are invincible to anything, can fly, freeze time....

Aaaaaaand what's exactly wrong with that? IMO, it's a better route than using the Harmony Blaster all the time.

And I think you're overgeneralizing Super forms a bit there. The only things you need to classify a Super form is having a drastic appearance change and having increased strength and speed. That's it. They don't have to be invincible or have the ability to do Harmonic Control or other stuff...

    • Brohoof 1
  14. But that's not the point of the show. Why would a show about learning about friendship and other lessons, suddenly turn into a show about fighting and beating up bad guys? Thats not what MLP is about and I highly doubt the show well go in that direction.

It's also something the don't need. They have a weapon that can beat an enemy in 1 blast and they don't need to do it in costumes.

So I going believe that is what the show is going to be about.

Yeah, a weapon that is literally a deus ex machina every time it's used, and DEMs are frowned upon, really.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with having some violence as long as they keep it down to "Canterlot Wedding" levels. And personally, I prefer some violence and struggling rather than using something that instantly solves all problems and calling it a day. That's just plain boring to me, you know. =/

  15. As part of my goals to make her further widespread, I'm going to post this here. However, please note, as with all fanfics, this fic is not for everyone to read, especially those who think giving somepony a Super form automatically makes them a Mary Sue and/or some other nonsense. So please, don't bring it up in here because it is horribly inaccurate.

I'm aware that the prose has some flaws in it, btw, and I will fix them later. But for now, please enjoy the fic and if you have any critiques for me, please let me know.

    Title: "Harmonic Spectrum"

    Author: Super Klonoa

Summary: The Elements of Harmony. The most powerful magic in all of Equestria...

For two times now, they have been wielded by six individual ponies, bound together by the Magic of Friendship, to successfully counter the wicked and chaotic ambitions of those who sought to conquer the world.

Yet, for all their usefulness, these magical artifacts still remain a mystery to most of ponykind. Perhaps the most important question is, was it really the full potential of them that was displayed by the wielders? Or is there simply more than what meets the eye?

When Rainbow Dash recieves an updated version of the book focusing on the Elements of Harmony and reads its new chapter that tells of a special incident that supposedly happened eons ago, soon, a series of events happen afterward. Events which ultimately culminate in Rainbow Dash discovering her true destiny, as well as discovering what she really holds inside in her very own soul...

  16. In response to the replies above... really, I could care less about other fans' demands about the show. Couples? Not into shipping. Derpy? She's had her time to shine in season 2 before the complaints arose. Gamer Luna? That'd be a bit out of character for her, don't you think?

The only thing I care about is getting Super Dash into the show. To me, unlike the above, it would fit into the show the most as long as they keep the violence to "A Canterlot Wedding" levels, even if it would make her a step above the rest of the Mane Six. But then again, so is alicorn Twilight, and so its fair enough if there was one other of the six to match her power.

Of course, though, that's all up to DHX. If they want to take my idea, let them. If they want to design their own Super form for Dash, let them. If they want to give the rest of them Super forms, let them. If it helps their creativity as was said above, let them.

In the end, its all on them. Maybe they'll continue the pandering, maybe not. No one can predict the future. It's all a mystery, and only they know the answer.

  17. I don't know about you guys, but to me, the Elements of Harmony definitely need a shakeup beyond the repetitive Harmony Blaster. And my suggestion on that?

Well, I'll leave you with a hint. We still have yet to see what happens when one single pony uses all of them at once and is also backed by the Magic of Friendship in order to gain their full power.

And after that, it doesn't have to be so uber violent, either. Just charging into the villain's gut a few times will do. =P

As one would say, sometimes you have to be a little violent in order to restore peace and harmony. =)
