  1. have awesome birthday =)=)=)=)=)!

  2. Yes, definitely an OC's cutie mark, I never saw this one in the show. Just curious which character is it. It's probably not a really famous one since I can't find anything using Google pic search. (I could be wrong though...)
  3. Hello everypony! I just found this picture somewhere on the internet, I'm pretty sure it's the cutie mark of someone's OC pony but I don't know the name of the character. Does anybody know whose cutie mark is this? I've tried Google pic search and found nothing.... Thank you very much!
  4. Thanks for the screenshot. I do know that Meghan said Twilight will not outlive her friends, but I can't find the tweet about her saying elements of harmony have extended life cycle. Do you hava a link for that too? Thanks again.
  5. Really? Is that true or you were just kidding? Since I can't find the tweet you mentioned, may I have the link or screenshot of the source? I really need to know more about this issue. Thanks.
  6. Sorry to ask if this is a silly question....Is the merge complete? I can't find any topics from above except "Twilight Sparkle's Immortality" thread.
  7. May I ask why? Is it because unicorn is the legendary animal thus having a longer life-span than an ordinary ponies? or it is just a simple fact that, in real life, people usually outlive friends and loved ones in certain period of life?
  8. I have just the same belief and that's my only concern regarding Twilight being an alicorn. All we've got is someone asked a question about "Will Twilight live for a very long time?" in one of the panel this year and Tara strong said "YES" to that question. I would say that question was very badly phrased, so the answer is ambiguous, that question should have been more direct. But I think I'm currently in a middle of a dilemma, what if the dev team confirm something about Twilight's immortality in the future? Wouldn't it be too sad or cruel? I don't even want to think about it....
  9. Thanks for replying the topic, I'm really happy to see the opinions from different perspectives. I know the whole "Alicorn outliving friends" issue is pure speculation without any cannon evidence and I'm probably over thinking the issue too much. I also see the point of "It's just a show for kids" argument. too, but as far as I'm concerned the characters have been developed well enough and that's why I'm worry about their fate. Guess that's one of the effects of good storytelling, isn't it? I understand that there are always new generations to make friends with or there will always be offspring to look after, but I still can't help but thinking that after dealing with just so many deaths that it would be really hard to go on. I'm still wondering how Celestia deal with it during all those years, she probably outlived dozens of her students already, not to mention all the friends she might had in the past. "Outliving some of your friends or family members" and "Doomed to outlive all of your friends and loved ones generation by generation" is totally different thing, that's why I consider immortality is nothing but a curse. Cadence's case would still make sense if we assumed that all the Alicorns are immortal and they will keep aging until certain point then stop afterward. But I rather believe Cadence and Twilight are still mortal, otherwise it's just too sad for their spouse/family/friends/loved ones.... But if I have to look the marriage between Cadence and Shining Armor in a more cynical way, I would say that Cadence is probably too young to understand the horror of immortality and she will learn it someday.... "IF" alicorns are indeed immortal, the marriage between Cadance and Shining Armor will end up like this: Twilight and her friends will end up like this: Gosh...this made me feel so depressed again, I should really avoid those fan-arts that depicting this kind of thing and hope the show won't confirm anything about the longevity of alicorn.
  10. Thanks for all the ponies who came and shared their thoughts toward the issue, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who feel worried about Twilight's fate for being an alicorn princess. It is also good to hear all those feedback from different perspectives. This! This is what I'm trying to say and this is why I opened this thread. Being a Taiwanese, I always find it difficult to fully express my feelings toward certain issue in English, sometimes I don't even know if my sentences are grammatically correct or not. What SBaby said above just hit the nail on the head and that is exactly what I'm worry about. The lack of explanation and canon evidences regarding alicorn do create so many uncertainties around them and I can't help but thinking stuff like immortality or outliving the other ponies.....since this is the only obvious thing (though no proven) we can observed from the show for being an alicorn. I don't know why I keep thinking in this way, maybe it is because MLP:FIM is so special to me and I really don't want to see they officially open up a potentially saddening arc for Twilight. And this is a bit off topic but I have a mix feeling about kids' cartoon addressing issue like death, I know technically friends and family will die at some point anyway and that is an inevitable truth of real life. Although it is a bit surprised for me to know that many people actually think it is a shame which MLP probably won't address this issue but I agree that Kids are not idiots and most of them understand what death is to one degree or another and they probably wondering Twilight's fate just like us. I see the points that people made in previous posts. But I watch this show because it pulls me away from the cruel world we live in and I expect it to stay that way, so personally I don't want to see such a sad/dark subject being addressed in the future seasons/episodes. If I want something that starts out happy and gets dark in the end, I would go watch Madoka Magica.
  11. I personally hope they never confirm any of the occurrences listed above, either one of the three would be too sad for me to accept. But I'm afraid the first one will be the one that most likely to be confirmed in the show, probably in series finale, either directly or indirectly....(hope not). For a show like this to confirm that Twilight will eventually outlived all her friends and family due to being an alicorn would be a stab in the heart for me as well and kinda unfair to her friends in my opinion. I just opened a topic in Alicorn Twilight section earlier this day to express my concern toward the potential lifespan issue of Princess Twilight, I am glad to see I am not the only one feel worried about. Also, thanks for ~Scootaloo for notifying me about this thread. So for the lifesapn, I'd rather believe in this way: Ponies/Pegasi/Unicorns: Average Dragons: Longer than ponies/pegasi/unicorns in general, considering a hundred years is only a nap for a dragon. Genuine Alicorns (Celestia/Luna): Either Immortal or have an incredibly long lifespan compare to others. Ascended Alicorns (Twilight/Cadance): Average but with some special/powerful magic talent than regular ponies. Since I'm not quite sure about how Cadance became an alicorn, I simply put her into the same category as Twilight. That's my personal headcannon for now.
  12. Wow....You have to calm down a little bit, we are not here to express hatred toward the idea, it is not my purpose of opening this topic. I'm just sharing one of my concern about Twilight and the possible future of her ponylife. Although I personally don't know whether to like the idea or not at the moment....but I will definitely give Season 4 a chance just like what I did to the show in the very beginning. Also, I've read the post that ~Scootaloo made, I'd rather believe only Celestia and Luna are immortal Alicorns due to their ethereal mane or connection between celestial sphere and being transformed into alicorn doesn't grant one immortality. Otherwise it will be too sad for Twilight and kinda unfair to her friends in my opinion.
  13. Alright, I know this concern might have been brought up before and somepony might think I'm over thinking the issue or make way too big of a deal out of little things. First, I have to say I am not here to argue whether I support the idea of Twilicorn or not. But I have to admit that this issue do bother me very much ever since Twilight transformed into an Alicorn princess. I know there is no solid evidence proving that all the Alicorns are immortal or will gain immortality for being transformed into one, but based on what I've seen in the show, they do have an incredibly long lifespan compare with other species. (Celestia and Luna in this case, not sure about Cadance though) Also, someone asked a question about "Will Twilight live for a very long time?" in one of the panel this year and Tara strong said "YES" to that question. It is like being punched in the chest when I heard the answer, not sure what to think at the moment but I supposed this officially open up for a seriously saddening arc of Twilight might eventually outlived her friends and family, though this issue might be too sad/dark for a kids show like MLP to touch but at the same time it just sort of leaves a depressing taste in my mouth. I mean, it's not a thing kids think about, true. But those of us who are older can see that this will happen, maybe it is because as an adults we do tend to look at things in a more cynical perspective. There are some really good fan arts out there that depict the possible consequence of immortality of Alicorn Twilight and some of them even made me burst into tears while watching. Mind if I sharing some? [One Shot to Keep] on DA by feather-chan [Cruel God] on DA by Sakuyamon [Another Future] By shepherd0821 from Taiwan (my country! yay!) These are just what I can find for now, not to mention there are still countless YouTube videos and fan fictions. I just don't want the story end this way...anybody feel the same way? oh and Please excuse my poor English, I'm from Taiwan, I hope everything I wrote are clear enough. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
