  1. problem was that Twilight focused on non-substantial reasons for not trusting Cadence (like her hating Applejack's food) instead of real ones (like her not remembering Twilight) and it doesn't matter how right you are if you're an asshole about it
  2. Discovered this cover the other day, too good not to post, so here you go: also, I am currently obsessed with this song, or at least this particular performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eVG3ocrr3A
  3. It's just not something I get. Like comic books. I like Batman as much as the next guy, maybe more so, but I just can't get into comic books as a medium. Same with anime, nothing against it, it just doesn't do it for me, for whatever reason.
  4. Twilight: I'm thinking light jazz, Oscar Peterson type stuff. Something technically complex without being too distracting, good for studying and soothing anxiety without being stifling. Rainbow: Something tells me she'd like really big movie scores, John Williams or Ennio Morricone. Might listen to a few classical pieces that have a huge orchestra, like Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Pinkie: Anything fast and fun. Children's songs, punk rock, whatever suits the party she's throwing at the moment. I can't see her being too picky. Rarity: She's more... unique than the other ponies, seems that she'd be into alternative/indie music, or at least be knowledgeable about it. But she'd be the one who claims to love whatever's cool at the moment while secretly enjoying something embarrassing. Applejack: Country/Western probably, but I can see her enjoying classic rock. She probably cares the least about what kind of music she listens to. Fluttershy: Nothing that would hurt a sensitive bunny's ears. Instrumental, she wouldn't like to hear other voices. So new age is my best guess. Spike: Pop. Mainstream pop. That he sings along with constantly. Celestia: Death metal, no question about it. Luna: I can see her getting enthralled with the romantic movement. Chopin, Beethoven, Liszt, all those guys. Discord: Frank Zappa.
  5. for little kids, definitely the day day means playtime and fun night means monsters and having to go to sleep personally I get by on very little sleep so I don't really have a preference one way or the other
  6. The real worst character isn't on this list. Sombra is so far beyond any other character on the show. Just watch how the crystal ponies talk about his rule, and Celestia wasn't nearly as worried when Discord escaped as when Sombra returned. I voted for the Windigos and the Hydra. Both were creatures with no redeemable qualities. Even Fluttershy couldn't handle Hydra, and Windigos are literally made of evil and negative energy.
  7. as someone who's disabled I get that fairly often. people being condescending, etc. Doesn't really bug me much anymore, you have to learn to take it in stride, everyone has things about them that don't like, or are sensitive about.
  8. would be nice to see more griffons on the show yeah hell even Gilda would be fun in an occasional anti-hero role, making fun of the Mane 6 and generally being a pain
  9. this is why topics like this exist we would give it a chance if it looked like it might have a chance of being good based on the trailer, there is no chance and don't give me that 'you can't tell from the trailer' nonsense, that's the whole point of a trailer, to give people something to judge the movie on worst part is this obligation is that some of you think we all have to buy this crap because we're 'positive bronies' and we have to 'support the creators' no we don't, 'love and tolerate' doesn't imply being a pushover or blindly ignoring reality in favour of optimism, did you learn nothing from Putting Your Hoof Down? THAT is the oppression Markz0ne is talking about, how every time someone makes a valid complaint it's met with "so what", "it's not the end of the world", "you should give it a chance like FiM" (here's the thing about that last one: giving FiM a chance DOES NOT COST MONEY, besides which myself and most bronies only gave it a shot AFTER it became popular on 4chan and started spreading everywhere else, I don't normally watch children's cartoons in the hopes of finding one I genuinely enjoy, because if there is a great cartoon out there like FiM I WILL HEAR ABOUT IT FROM OTHER BRONIES, and in the same way if reviews of and reactions to EQG are positive, THEN I will give it a chance and spend money on it), and other passive-aggressive side-swiping against those of us not deluded enough to pretend everything's peachy. Liking EQG doesn't mean turning a blind eye to all the things awful about it. There are plenty of movies I adore that I know, rationally, are bad movies. I still like them, but I admit they're bad. also don't complain about someone using bad words on the internet, making direct threats to a person is one thing, but insults are a dime a dozen here, if you're that thin-skinned stay offline.
  10. what, nobody's posted vintage R.E.M. yet? shame on you all... this song is the first thing they ever released, legendary, it's even inside the library of congress: this opened their underrated third album, IMO one of their best compositions:
  11. A 'hater' is a term used by insecure people with fragile egos to vilify someone who doesn't like what they like. It provides the person a way to ignore the 'hater' without having to defend their object of interest rationally.
  12. you're missing the entire point most EQG haters are not total psychopaths the movie's going to be total crap, but I don't bear Hasbro or DHX and ill-will for it and I'm not abandoning the fandom any time soon it's you guys that are destroying the fandom by saying "like this or else"
  13. 1. Anyone who threatens/blames the people working hard to try and make EQG good is an idiot. Studio DHX is clearly making the best of a bad situation. 2. Hasbro is still a good company. EQG is a horrible idea and it's going to suck, but let's take a deep breath and remember FiM wouldn't exist if it wasn't for them. They hired Faust and had her design a show that wasn't crap. Now they want to try a quick cash-grab, and that's their right. They're allowed to make money. 3. If you find yourself seriously willing to hurt/kill someone over a fucking movie spin-off then get professional help. You're crazy. Nobody's forcing you to watch EQG. Nobody's damaging the main show that you love. You can get mad at it. Getting mad to the point of seeking out the people making it and giving them death threats is psychotic. If any of you are reading this, get help now. You are not part of this fandom, you are not defending your show or giving people what they deserve, you're just a delusional nutcase.
  14. This has happened before: Big Mac taking the Smarty Pants doll, Spike playing with the wedding cake figures... I always wonder how meta the episodes are Like Too Many Pinkie Pies - I saw it as a commentary on flanderization of TV characters, how they go from deep and interesting to shallow and insipid. By trying to please everyone, Pinkie basically 'sells out' and loses what made her so lovable in the first place. Her friends want the real Pinkie, not a cheap substitute or bland characterization. It's pretty much confirmed Suited for Success is about struggling in the creative field and dealing with problematic clients.
  15. Radiohead is great. Favourite song would probably have to be Paranoid Android, with Pyramid Song as a close second. Have you heard the live versions? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWDUJ8sKvMU Much better than the studio album, Morning Mr. Magpie sounds completely different, Bloom is no longer a disjointed mess, and Feral is absolutely insane. Check it out when you have a chance. I'd recommend The Bends. It's not their best album, but it's the most accessible, and still has great songs.
  16. OK, as long as you have good in-universe justification for it. Anyways, great designs, interesting premise, this should be a good fic.
  17. 1. Faust intended to make FiM enjoyable for all demographics, sure, nobody predicted the brony explosion, but this isn't just a freak event. Plenty of adult males enjoyed Powder-puff Girls as well. Faust knows what she's doing, and Hasbro knew who they were hiring. 2. Attempting to alienate a demographic makes no sense from a business standpoint. The majority of FiM watchers are still little girls. But it's the single adults who have fat wallets and credit cards. And the bronies are buying lots of toys. 3. My guess is that EQG, rather than an attempt to block off part of the fandom, is trying to break into a third demographic: teenage girls. Girls just starting high school, wanting to get rid of childish things like ponies.
  18. guys let's look at this logically: Chrysalis defeated Celestia Shining Armor defeated Chrysalis Sombra defeated Shining Armor Spike defeated Sombra ALL HAIL SPIKE THE DRAGON GOD
  19. because all signs point to it destroying the positive messages upon which FiM was created Mane 6 have fancy hair and wear skirts all the time (trailer shows RD playing soccer in a skirt) which is exactly the kind of stereotype Faust didn't want when she created the characters not to mention that the plot revolves a prom (or cheap prom substitute), and probably includes a boyfriend for Twilight that's the main problem for me, it doesn't matter if it's funny, or how well it's made, it's removing everything about FiM that made it unique, good, and enjoyable to all demographics. that's why no matter how much effort the talented writers, animators, and cast put into this movie, it's still fundamentally flawed. it's still not FiM
  20. she is a normal kid who has normal parents living in a normal house and has not had anything particularly tragic happen to her ever
  21. you misspelled 'skin colour' anyways judging from the trailer I have to give them points for fixing the designs and having good animation but the whole high school + prom + boyfriend + dog!Spike = shit beyond all shit imaginable maybe the whole point of this is to stop fans whining about Twilicorn and be happy with what we've got because it could be so much worse tl; dr:
  22. Yep. Think about all the Twilight-centered episodes thus far. They're all about her either developing strong leadership skills, or learning to accept her strong powers.
  23. I don't know that Pinkie's can be considered the saddest seeing as how she had no concept of true happiness. You don't realize you were missing something until you have it. I think Fluttershy's was probably the hardest, seeing as how nopony seemed to notice when she fell and nearly died.
  24. I'd say I have Twilight's OCD, Dash's brusqueness, Rarity's attention to detail, Pinkie's energy (some of the time), AJ's stubbornness, and Fluttershy's social skills.
  25. I actually like that they aren't hiding Twilight's power or coming up with contrived situations where her friends can be useful.
