When I was your age, I never had these fancy 'electrical appliances'. We had to deal with a gas light, which gave me the coughs for months, as we didn't have your fancy-schmancy doctors or medicines or nurses. Also, instead of getting your namby-pamby 'detentions' and 'cafeteria duty', we were given 12 hits on our bottom (not your fancy butts) with a cane if we sat down, 6 on our hands if we moved our non-writing hand, 24 if we wrote with our left hands and be locked in the stocks in the classroom for 3 days if we talked or breathed. And we never had your fancy 'cafeterias' or 'social security' to keep us safe. We had to get along with the punishments. And out school was the nicest in the hamlet I lived in. As well as that... -
