  1. Welcome, fine Ponymon!  Welcome to the herd!  I hope you have a great stay in Bronyville.

    Ponymon? Pony me banana? wink.png

    *Clears throat*

Sorry about that silly joke! I just can't help that essentially everything reminds me of a song! tongue.png

Welcome, PokeBrony! What led you to MLP? smile.png

  2. I voted pansexual. I've fallen for male, female, androgynous, non-binary, and transgender individuals. However, if you'd like to get more specific...I'm...a tad complex. I tend to lean heavily toward hetero relationships emotionally, and yet at the same time, I have almost no sexual attraction to most males at all. In fact, most of my more physical attractions are to other females. In this sense, I have a very complicated sexual identity. (It's complicated in that there is some very "deep" vocabulary used, and it gets complicated when it comes to relatonships for me.) I identify as primarily homosexual and heteroromantic.

  3. Note: Interestingly enough two related episodes have been confirmed for this airtime.

    Episode 25:

Title: A Canterlot Wedding (Part 1)

    Air Date: April 21, 2012

Synopsis: Twilight is confused by her conflicting feelings when she finds out her brother Shining Armor is marrying Celestia's niece Mi Amore.

    Episode 26:

Title: A Canterlot Wedding (Part 2)

    Air Date: April 21, 2012

Synopsis: Twilight saves her brother and all of ponykind by freeing the real Mi Amore and defeating Queen Chrysalis, a changeling that had assumed Mi Amore's appearance in an attempt to take over Equestria.

    This is too surprising.

These descriptions are quite vague, and I assume are vague to avoid spoilers. After just recently watching these episodes myself I realize that the whole two episodes are full of twists and turns. To be honest, I have noticed more and more creativity emerging in the series. Regardless, I have a summary of my own...Be prepared, as here comes a spoiler!

In the beginning Twilight Sparkle indeed experiences conflicted feelings when it comes to her brother's upcoming wedding. After receiving a letter (through Spikes always "lovely" regurgitation of parchment), Twilight becomes anxious, and frantic in response. Not only is her brother getting married, a life changing decision (as she points out), but he had not informed her personally. Twilight had always been close with her brother, or as she put it, "BBBFF" (Big Brother Best Friends Forever). In situations like this, she clearly felt betrayal, yet this feeling was mixed in wih exciement for her brother's upcoming "special day".

Twilight finds out that he's marrying Princess Mi Amor, who used to "foal sit" (a term obviously equivalent to baby sit) for her when she was little. She clearly experiences both shock, happiness, pride, and excitement mixed into one upon hearing he news. She remembers Princess Mi Amor's kindness, and her ability to spread love everywhere. However, when Twilight sees Princess Mi Amor for who she is now, Twilight is immediately put off by the Princess' cold and uncaring nature. Twilight's surprise and dislike the Princess Mi Amor only grows as the first episode progresses. The princess is cruel, is clearly using magic for her own benefit at the cost of hurting and controlling others, and shows no respect for anyone around her. She is demanding, and lies frequently. Twilight sees that this is NOT the Princess Mi Amor she used to know. A distinct clue to what exactly happened is noted during the first meeting between Twilight and the Princess in the first episode, when Princess Mi Amor does not seem to remember the "patty-cake" like interaction Twilight and Princess Mi Amor and Twilight had done as children when playing together.

About half-way through the first episode, Twilight catches the Princess casting a sort of spell on her brother (Shining Armor), and she eventually attempts to bring the fact that the Princess is not a catch, and that there is something wrong, during the wedding rehearsal. Yet, at this time, no one believes her. Her brother insists that Princess Mi Amor was healing a migrain he was experiencing. Twilight is even told by Princess Celestia that she has "a lot to think about". It is clearly assumed that Twilight is simply being possessive of her brother by the others.

At the end of the episode, Twilight thinks the situation over, and even questions if she is mistaken in her judgement, a common occurence in reality, when we do in fact question our intuition and use logic instead. When Princess Mi Amor enters the room where Twilight is, it is, however, made very clear that something is indeed wrong, as she casts Twilight into a pit.

When the second episode begins, Twilight finds that she was indeed on to something. She uncovers the fact that the real Princess Mi Amor was in the same pit she was thrown into. The clue in the beginning of the first episode is also made abundantly clear here, when the two proceed to play the "patty-cake" like activity they used to do, exactly as they used to do it, creating the realization that the initial lack of "memory" of the act hinted at the first "Princess Mi Amor" being an imposter.

The two manage to make an escape, and reveal the truth to everyone. As it turns out the imposter was a "Changeling", bent on feeding off of love to gain power. An army of changelings soon enter, and many attempt to take the forms of the mane six. Yet, this scene is surpisingly simple, and leaves the audience with the question of, "How did the ponies know the real mane six from the imposters?"

Despite much chaos, and many twists and turns, the second episode does have a happy ending, of course, and the wedding proceeds with Shining Armor marrying the real Princess Mi Amor.

These episodes focus a good deal on Twilight Sparkle's feelings about the whole situation and the individuals involved, and rightly so. The message behind these episodes, as stated toward the end, is to "trust your instincts". I find it an excellent message that rarely gets through to people. It's far too often that someone gets themselves into (sometimes grave) danger due to ignoring their initial instincts and feelings. Since this show's target audience is young girls, who may be at risk of rape or kidnapping, they are getting the message to these girls at an early age, which will perhaps in turn remain with them as much of the common sense we are told at an early age remains with us.

  4. I'm quite old. Around 20 on the paper, mentally around 40 and sometimes it feels like 60. Recently I even said "Dude, I'm too old for that #%§&" to a friend.

Haha! I know the feeling! At times I am told that I act like a middle-aged woman. I think it's because of the way I talk from time to time, I'm motherly and tend to yell at those who I feel aren't taking care of themselves. It's quite funny, since that usually causes the opposite response...the response I don't want! I do sometimes feel "old", and I think this stems from the fact that I never fit in as a child, and always desired a mother figure. I would cling to female teachers who were also motherly. I would converse with them, and not usually the other students. I still show this tendency from time to time, even in college.

However, more often than not, I act far younger than I should. I'm actually quite bouncy, immature, silly, and sometimes just sit around spouting nonsense, and laughing for no reason. I'm actually quite different in person at times! My mother always tells me that I act too childish for a nearly 24 year old. tongue.png

    Still, 20 isn't old, StatesTheObvious. ;)

  5. Alright, I apologize for posting this while entirely exhausted. The content of this post will probably be pretty simplistic compared to my other posts...

    Anyhow...

I voted. I'm in the 18-24 year old range...right at the end of that range, actually. I'll be 24 by the end of June. :P

  6. No, I'm definitely a guy. This was more of a sarcastic post than anything else. Don't blame me, I was sleep deprived when I wrote it.

Heh, alright. You don't have to worry about it. I figured that you are probably a cis male. I was simply saying that male bodied, female identified individuals should be able to post here. Of course, this isn't my thread, nor my forum, so i can't really make the rules. :P

  7. I just got a bunch of Prom pictures I can't wait to po-

    *loading*

Celestia damn you, male genitalia! It's your fault I can't be the cutest girl brony on this site!

Hrm...There is a most handsome brony contest. Maybe post there?

...Do you identify as female, though? If so, if I were you I would say so and post here. To me, people are just as male or female as they feel. :)

  8. Heh, interesting way of phrasing the question. tongue.png

In my opinion all of the Mane 6 have their own "issues":

Twilight Sparkle is overly organized and set in her ways...not to mention that she has some difficulty socially (though I doubt to the point of Aspergers, like some have said).

Fluttershy is extremely shy and timid.

Rainbow Dash is impulsive, and possibly overly competitive. She's also a bit on the aggressive side.

Applejack is a little dense and stubborn. She's a workaholic, and doesn't know when her body needs a break.

    Rarity is narcissistic and melodramatic.

Pinkie Pie is hyperactive and socially inept. She tends not to know how to take things seriously when the need arises.

Obviously these things are only their bad traits, and the Mane 6 are very loveable because they have so many good traits. Actually, even their bad traits can be endearing.

Now, when it comes to whether Pinkie Pie "hit her head on a rock", I guess that considering that she was raised on a rock farm, it's possible, but I doubt she would have hit it too hard. She would not be as high functioning if she did. Although brain damage tends to cause different cognitive dysfunctions depending on which part of the brain was damaged, Pinkie Pie is most likely just a happy, fun-loving individual. Also, if you look at the episode about how everyone got their cutie marks, you'll notice that Pinkie was extremely unhappy until she saw said...I believe it was a rainbow. Once she saw it, it struck a chord with her, and she became happy and threw a party for her family. This doesn't seem like a "got hit on the head with a rock" sort of thing. tongue.png

  9. Red, those rules are interesting. Most are very good, however, personally, I see a few potential flaws. For example sitting around and letting a friend get hurt is one of them. It also contradicts the rule about always standing by your friends. Standing by your friends automatically implies helping them avoid potentially dangerous situations (at least to me). In the past I have been saved from potential rape by a friend who knew that someone I wanted to date was "Not so good". A past boyfriend of mine has saved me from trying a drug in the past, that otherwise might be bad for me in particular. I respect that you are trying to let people learn lessons on their own, and indeed sometimes that is necessary, but in my opinion, there can be harmful situations in which you need to guide your friend away from. I remember an episode of MLP that made the issue of trying to help a friend abundantly clear, though I cannot remember the episode number or title...Basically the episode "lesson" was that you should talk to your friends when you suspect something is wrong with them, or harmful to them.

Another problem is of a certain paradoxical nature, since by always standing by your friends, you risk allowing yourself to make some bad choices. What if said friend plans on hurting someone, whether physically, emotionally, or what-have-you? Would you stand by them then?

I'm not trying to nit-pick, and I'm sorry if it comes across that way! It's my personal opinion, and you can take it or leave it. Even so, I do applaud your ability to stick to your word. I have never been able to follow any sort of rules religiously, so you're doing better than me on that front! ;)

  10. What sort of novel is it? I tend to stay in the fiction end of the spectrum. img-1449020-2-happy.png

It's a fiction novel, but I'd rather not give out too many details. ;)

  11. @ PPC. Same here. I love Cindy Lauper as well. Worn out many a tape/CD but never got a chance to go to a concert.

    Back on topic..

I relate to Luna the most but as far as parts of the show. I'd say I can relate to Spike trying to find out more about himself and having to search far and wide for answers only to discover that it was closer to home then we thought

Do you know her too? Or do you mean you are a fan? Either way, it's really nice to see another Cyndi Lauper fan here! She has a Twitter, by the way. If you're interested, I can PM you her Twitter name...or you can just search. :P

Just thought I'd throw that in! Back to the topic!

  12. Creative writing mostly but I've been working on a fanfic with some friends of mine. What writing do you do?

Mostly essays, actually, but I've been attempting a novel. Unfortunately, I tend to write novels like essays. :P

  13. Haha, wow! That's a very creative introduction! Well-done!

Out of curiosity, does any of what you wrote actually symbolize anything that went on in real life? Sort of like an allegory? I'm not sure how to phrase what I'm asking... ohmy.png

  14. This episode shows an entirely different side of Pinkie Pie. Not only is she more sensitive than she usually lets on, but it also reveals a bit of a tendency toward paranoia. It clearly shows that she needs her friends, and needs to be loved. If she is ignored she feels discouraged, and gets angry...which is something I've been known to do as well. :P

As a side-note, I absolutely love that crazy smile she gives when she's interacting with the inanimate objects. I remember that when I was eleven years old, I was so lonely, and bullied so much, that I began to "make friends" with inanimate objects, so I completely understand her need for friends.

  15. Er...I don't see Pinkie Pie as anything other than the lead singer. Here's why:

    1. It's obvious...she LOVES to sing. In a lot of episodes, she's the one singing, and not the others.

    2. She's extremely social. To be the frontman/frontwoman of a band, you need to interact with the crowd.

    3. She's, of course, has boundless energy. If you notice, most singers of bands need to jump around while they sing. A singer who does not move would probably bore the crowd.

    As for the rest:

There needs to be a songwriter. The job as songwriter would probably either be Pinkie Pie, or Twilight Sparkle. If you've noticed, Twilight Sparkle is a bit of a writer. I wouldn't put it past her to write poetry, or even songs.

The guitar player would be probably be Applejack. That seems to be a fairly common country instrument, though I'm not certain I could see Applejack in a rock band. She'd more likely be Country/Western...but nevertheless....

Rainbow Dash would likely be on the drums. She's a tough girl, and if you've noticed the "tough ones" are usually either lead guitarists or drummers. Since Applejack is the one playing the guitar, then it only makes sense that Rainbow Dash would play the drums.

I'd assume that Rarity would have two jobs, like Pinkie Pie (if she's also a songwriter). Rarity would likely be both the keyboard player, and the costume designer. After all, stage outfits are pretty important for image, which is a big part of the music industry.

EDIT: I think I forgot fluttershy...poor, poor Fluttershy...Anyway, I suspect that she'd be either bass back up vocals.

If you guys have noticed a few of the characters would be doing two things at once. This is actually not uncommon when it comes to music. wink.png

  16. I suppose the one thing that comes to mind for me is Apple Family Reunion, while I have never been in charge of a family reunion I knew exactly what Applejack was going through during that episode. I think the reason why she tried so hard to make everything perfect was to try to honor the memory of her parents and since my father passed away a year ago this episode really hit closer to home than any other episode I have seen so far. Ever since my fathers passing I have been thinking a great deal about both the past and the future, I feel that same desire Applejack felt to honor his memory and I believe the best way for me to do this is to follow my dreams of becoming an author. I know that my father would not want me to be an angry, bitter and stressed out dairy clerk/backup checker for the rest of my life and I know I don't want that either. He got to live out his passion as a restaurant owner and though my path is different from his I want that same pride in my work that he once took.

I'm terribly sorry about your father's passing. I have a friend who lost her mother when she was only 17 years old. Her father now is dying of lung cancer, despite the fact that he never even smoked. Your post was very touching. It makes me realize I should probably respect my parents more...but...sometimes...

    My condolences, nonetheless.

  17. I was recently watching an episode of MLP (the one about the Grand Gallopping Gala), and something struck me. It was a scene that seemed so relatable, and though I usually relate to Pinkie Pie, this time I completely understood Twilight Sparkle. I'm a huge fan of Cyndi Lauper, much like Twilight's idiolizing of Princess Celestia. I was lucky enough to meet Cyndi multiple times, and do communicate through email from time to time. We've arranged meetings before..VIP passes, and such at her concerts. The first two times I met Cyndi, I had quite a long time with her, considering how busy she is. The first time I went on my own, and we spoke for over a half hour (a rough estimate, of course). The second time we met, I went with my boyfriend at the time, and he later said that we were there for almost a half hour. By now, I've gotten quite attached to her. She's a very motherly person, and much calmer and sweeter than you'd think off-stage...like a different person in some ways. There are even times that she seems to be a sort of mentor for me..she gives a lot of life advice through emails, just as Princess Celestia teaches Twilight about friendship through the quill. Every time I manage to actually see Cyndi in person (which isn't really often), I crave more time with her, especially lately. However, she's a very busy woman, and usually has to greet a crowd of people, so there isn't always much time to talk. Needless to say, the last few times were no longer than 10 minutes backstage (often much less), and only some of that time was spent with me. It's just like the little time Twilight had with Princess Celestia.

So I ask, have you ever noticed anything in MLP that seems so relatable to your life, or a situation you have been through? Obviously the writers want to make the show relatable...who would watch a show that wasn't relatable? Still, there are some things in MLP that seem so directly relatable that it's almost shocking.

Once again, I apologize if a topic like this has already been posted...

  18. I think, the only kinds of Spiders i dislike are the really dangerous ones; like black widows, sydney funned web spiders or brown recluse.

A normal Taratula or other harmless spiders however don't bug me (no pun intended) at all.

    Interesting!

I'm not nearly as bothered by tarantulas, myself. In fact, I find them fascinating! I used to have a pet tarantula.

  19. I'm afraid of the dark and of spiders. But only the pitch black or really big spiders! I'm perfectly fine with tiny spiders, most of the time!

Yes, I am a little afraid of the dark too...

In terms of spiders, I actually dislike the brown ones. Black spiders don't bother me nearly as much!

  20. In my case, I identify with nearly everything that Pinkie Pie does, and feels, with one or two exceptions...I am not a "party girl". In fact, I've had some fairly awful experiences at parties. While I've always desired to interact with people at parties, I tend to be ignored due to me being quite socially inept at times. Not only this, but in some cases, large crowds of people have actually bothered me, and I do need alone time...

That said, while Pinkie Pie's songs and performances generally annoy people, when I actually perform or write songs, people really do seem to get into them...Heh, modest, aren't I? wink.png
