    No. Becaust being allmghty is necessity but not sufficiency to be concidered Mary Sue. A character has to be protagonist or a major one to be a MS. BTW: Q is the one of the reasons I don't like "Star Trek". For my taste he is unbearable. "Marshal of France? Rediculous!" Discord is so much better (for now).

    I'd like to point out the difference between "gak-creaze" and current one. My understanding is, gak was a product for sale, that had nothing to do with MLP. It wasn't even merchandise. That means, by spreading gak-related content across the internet fandom conducted - unintentially or otherwise - a viral marketing campagne for that product. Scepter, on the other hoof, has no commercial impact (yet).

    That's an interesting thing. In our eyes The Everfree Forest is an absolutely perfectly normal self-sustained ecological system. Which is at the other hoof unique for Equestria. Pretty much any other ecosystem needs helping hoof of ponies (or other sophonts) to stay fruitful. And it looks like Tree of Harmony is what allows Everfree Forest to be normal.

    I believe, the issue of Equestrian tech level has been discussed in several topics. The main problem with it, that we don't know what it is.     I don't know about anypony, but to me it's pretty obvious.I see EoH not as a powerful weapon but as a some sort of control mechanism, that can be used on specific sort of creatures, like NM or Doscird. Let's recall the episode "Dragonshy": the dragon there thretened Equestria with the frakin NUCLEAR WINTER! So, in my eyes, he was a clear and presend danger to the country, that had to be neutralized by any means necessery. And yet, nopony ever even discussed the posibility of using EoH on him. From it I conclude, EoH wouldn't work on him. Which means, the dragon was already in harmony with it's nature and couldn't be harmonized further. Another question though: why Her Highness couldn't harmonize her sister right away but had to banish her to the moon? Not necessery.In antique greek mythology, where the word "chaos" came from, chaos was the initial state of everything, of the universe itself. So, before cosmos (order) appeared, there existed pure chaos without any harmony. Means they were not bond together like two "dialectical oppositions".

    I can only repeat what I and others already told: Discord is not MS, because he is not a main character. What does he have to do with anything? He is an anthagonist - completely another league.

    Tommy Oliver is not an absolute authority. For me anyways. I belaeve, my definition of MS is more accurate. especially in fact that other respondents here say the same things. Well, I haven't mention the "omnipotent" and unbalaced nature of a MS firstly because it's obvious, secondly because my goal was to point out features that differ Discord from a MS. I'm not mad. I'm calm as a pyton. I've never even heared of anybody annoyed of Discord's "overpower".

They write about what they want to be.If you mean "Self insert" literally, like "person as is", than yes, you are right - up to a point. They are two different subtypes of avatar character. Like when you choose a userpic, you can use your real photo or a picture of Superman. There are two different approaches to the same issue - choice of a userpic. That's why I call it "avatar character", not "Self insert".

    Hate to say it, but I read your post for three times and stilll don't get it. Why do you say there a two completely different things? As far as I know, whenever a fic-writer creates a MS, he allways thinks of himself how he wants to look. So: not every avatar character is a MS, but every MS is an avatar character. Oh, wait: you mean "Self inserts" literally? Like "as is"? They don't. They just do those frakin comics of Trollestia/Mollestia. It may be not a problem as long Twilight has her OCD.

    Discord isn't a Mary Sue. 1. Mary Sue is normally a main character. Discord is obviously a supporting character with little screentime so far. Well, exept, of course, the "Return of Harmony" were he was the main antagonist - completely different thing. 2. Mary Sue is a subtype of what you can call an avatar character. Meaning an embodiment of the author. And in case of MS it's a compensatopial embodiment. I don't believe, Discord is an embodiment of anywho, since the whole concept of Discord looks like a ponification of Q 3. Maey Sue kicks asses all the time (to show how awesom and cool she is). In the last episode Discord have done almost nothing. So, no, he isn't.
