Everlast turned away from staring at the pagasus to see the new arrival just in time to see a card flying at him. Him! How could I not see he was involved?!? The card latched him to the ground, and began electrocuting him. AGAIN!?! I will not put up with this again! He strained against the chains and struggled uselessly hopelessly to move toward the card thrower. He attempted to use magic against his bonds, but the searing pain in his horn, coupled with the electricity coursing through him, caused him to black out.

I like this concept, I have a character for either a teacher or a student.

@ "He has a treacherous look in his eyes." Everlast rose, seeing everyone else take action gave him courage. "He has the look of a traitor. So says the one who assaults us for no apparent reason. To attack without a reason would make you less than the most primitive of beings. Now we have seen how combat has worked, let us now try words. You attacked us, so what was your reasoning? Give me a valid reason as to why each of us should suffer under your hand." As he spoke, he moved to the front of the party, but stopped as he finished. He stood there staring into the wind, trying to see a reaction, waiting for a reply.

Everlast was frantically flipping through pages in his book, searching for anything that could be related to a cure. So engrossed in his work was he, that he didn't notice the new arrival. It wasn't until he was already lying prone in an alleyway that he began to look around him again. He saw a Pegasus with a sword knock Hurricane back, and cut her, all without touching her. At the same time, beside him, the poisoned princess fell. He wanted to go help both of them, But without his magic, he knew he was useless. He wasn't going to confront the invader either, not after witnessing what he could do. So instead he settled himself for continuing to lie down, and observe what he could, without attracting attention to himself.

You threaten to kill me? Wouldn't be the first unwilling test subject I've had. I'm game for this 'friendship'.

@@Lightning Bliss "What?" Everlast almost dropped his bowl, hoping he heard improperly, "Are you suggesting that someone poisoned the meal?" He looked down at his own soup and gently set it down and slid it away from himself. "Let's take a look." Everlast attempted to switch views so he could see what, if anything was ailing her, but found that his magic was dampened and just trying caused him pain. He dropped his face into his hooves. "Ok, Question one is answered, It was definitely poisoned." Everlast rubbed his hooves against his temples. "Argh. Second and third questions; Who would poison you and why? What enemies would you have made?" Everlast was close to panicking. Without magic! No... I need... magic... I'm weak. He quickly got up. "I'm sorry to cut this dinner short, but I am going to return to my books, hopefully I have documented something about a poison related to this one, if not this one exactly." He left her room, and returned to the coffee table where he left his books and papers. Of course I won't find anything, I didn't train for these kind of things, I never expected to run into poison and I never did. But, now, a princess's life is on the line, and I can't do anything!

@@Lightning Bliss Everlast takes the bowl offered to him and stirs it around. "Good question, why are things the way they are, something I have spent most of my life looking into. In your specific case though, It is because however much you tell yourself otherwise, you are different from every other pony." He blows softly into his soup to cool it off before taking a bite. "Of course," Everlast smiles, "Everypony is different from everypony else, be glad you are different. What would the world be like if everypony was exactly the same? Everypony was all unicorn, pegasus, or earth pony with no variety. In my opinion, it would be pretty boring. I wouldn't have stories to document if I was told the same old story by everypony I ask." Everlast slowly takes small spoonfuls of soup, now more interested in the alicorn before him and their conversation. "You, just so happen to be a new level of different. As to how others see you, and why they treat you the way they do. They could simply be admiring a rare occurrence, do you ever think that shooting stars ever get angry at all of us down here who admire it as it passes by? It isn't all that often one gets to see an alicorn. In deeper cases, it could be because we are jealous. I will admit, I am jealous of you. To be given the position you have, what I wouldn't do." He finished speaking and began digging into his soup while he waited for her response.

@@Lightning Bliss, Everlast frowned slightly at the exchange before him. "Do you not enjoy being an alicorn? You seem to shirk from everything it brings you." He shook his head and sighed. "I'm sorry, that is a topic that I should not bring up after you invite me so cordially to dinner. Speaking of which, yes soup is always a simple and great place to start a meal, It is enough to whet the taste buds in preparation for the rest of the meal, but not enough to satisfy."

I feel that because Everlast is now sharing the dinner, he is going to get hit as well with this poison.

@@Lightning Bliss Everlast never realized how famished he was until she mentioned food, and sh he wasn't going to pass this up. "It would be my pleasure to dine with you. I guess I kept forgetting to eat in my excitement. What we are doing, finishing what the great Starswirl could not, I feel proud of this journey. And already I have learned so much, from you all, from the little collection of Starswirl's notes, a tiny drop of a great pool of knowledge..." He faded, realizing he was trailing into his topics that bored everypony else. "What I mean to say, is all in all, it has been a great pleasure to travel with everypony here."

Truly this would provide no use for me, but if someone wanted it back, like yourself now," He shrugged. "I return it, and if by some off chance no one claims it, I return it to celestia, who would probably know its owner better than me, and turn it in to her for a reward."

He watched the faces, and as the treasure appeared over the hill, he realized what it was. Greed. No one was going to be willing to share the prize. He stopped, unwilling to go on, and at the same time, a horrifying shape rose from the ground and screamed. @@Lightning Bliss The book stuck to his face as he rose, and slowly slipped off, slapping onto the desk again. Everlast looked around, slowly getting his bearings and realized he must have dozed off as he was thinking. Crown? Someone is looking for a crown? Oh, right. He dug through his bag and pulled out Lightning Bliss's tiara. Everlast sat and admired it for a bit before he got up and brought it to the princess. "Is this what a distraught princess is looking for?"

Everlast got back to the hotel, and after asking the clerk where the rest were, made his way to the top floor and walked in. How did we end up in this place? Good goddess. He saw everyone settling in, and made his way to the coffee table and pulled out the new supplies he got. He sat down and began writing a letter. Quill Wit, While in Ponyville a few days ago, a great opportunity was brought before me. Currently I am now in Manehattan with a group on the trail of Starswirl the Bearded himself, and as I understand it, we are going to find a treasure he died looking for, something that can grant any wish. There is a kicker as well. To alicorns, It provides a form of divinity, which, if true, will destroy previous theories of mine, but as three members of my travelling party are alicorns I will have a chance to see this for myself. During the travel time I have been gleaming parts of their history, and will have it all documented. While this journey will throw everything it contains to the winds, it is my hope that they may have answers to the mystery I have spent many hours on. I know you will shake your head upon reading that, but while I am also loosing faith in what it says, I am going to keep that option open. Even if it holds just a little knowledge to what may have transpired to create the original Alicorns, that little bit may be what is needed. Even if it doesn't, these two options seem equally plausible at this point, so if one works, I will have made great leaps for all ponykind. He folded the page twice, and then addressed it. He placed it back in his pack and panned to send it off as they leave the city. After that was taken care of, Everlast settled into the chair and took to reading over Starswirl's notes again. As an afterthought, he tucked a few of the pages with the letter.

@, Everlast followed the group into town, and walked with them to the hotel. His feet ached worse than they ever had before, and he would be glad to rest, This would be a good chance to write... Everlast knocked himself on the head. Before they went inside he went up to Raze. "I was wondering If you could reserve a slot for me along with everyone else. I need to go shopping, and I'll be back shortly and I promise I will pay my fair share of what ever may be required." He didn't even wait for an answer before backing out and away from everyone. I made an idiot's mistake, going on this trip without the basic necessities. Making his way to the appropriate shop, Everlast purchased some blank paper, quills and ink. After getting his work supplies, He began making his way, back to the hotel.

He split the wound between them both, and winced as his hooves burned with terrible pain. The sudden shock knocked him onto his own flank. "Well, I guess I have to give you credit. How long did you walk like that?" He slowly started to get back on his own hooves.

Ok, I am terribly sorry. I assure you, I have found the problem and it will not happen again. I am ready to begin again tomorrow night.

@@Lightning Bliss Everlast had reintegrated back into the group and saw Lightning Bliss stumble around. A little problem. Something to take my mind of the big ones. "Need help princess?" He stood over her and kindly asked. He reached a hoof to help her up, and lit up his horn with his healing magic.

@ Everlast paused for a second, pondering what was just said. "The sword. It is bound to an object and I am sure it is the sword. He wasn't acting like this until the fight, when he attempted a magic attack using it." Everlast thought for a moment more, recalling everything he learned in the trip about the alicorn in question. "This brings up another question, is his power directly tied to the blade? He doesn't recall any life other than as an alicorn and he never, as far as I'm aware, received any formal training in magic. His use of fire came naturally to him. Could the sword be the source of everyhing for him? If it is, I'm doubting he will take kindly to shattering everything he has ever known. Maybe I am overreacting. Maybe this is a part of him. I really don't know him beyond the basic knowledge and what I have learned over the past three days of adventure." Everlast began to walk to rejoining the group. "Perhaps we should talk about this more later. My suggestion now is still the same as before. Look, but don't touch. If he should do something that will clearly have adverse effects on us. Then we stop him and see what can be done."

@ "Actually yes, I do have more questions. Does it affect you mentally? I understand that it is merely an arm, but it is demonic, and they tend to have ways." Everlast lowered his voice, "I ask because we may have a problem with sanity of sorts as it is you see. Blaze worries me. Well, he doesn't worry me. He- what is inside him worries me. He is not in his own mind, and I was wondering, if you could perhaps help me. I need to know what it is like to use magic not exactly your own. I need a way to figure out how I could separate two parts of a mind while leaving the person intact. Sort of like removing a magical tumor." he shuddered. "I can't use empathic magic with this kind of problem, and that takes away most of my tools."

Everlast Followed the group. While he saw the Everfree forest as proof of his main theory, it was one of those things he liked to study from a safe distance and he was eager to leave it. As he walked, he went, as usual into his books. He was glad for the extra hooves brought by the two new recruits. He slowly moved his way toward the one with the weird hoof, and when he got beside him, began pestering him with questions. @, "Hello there, I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about your magic. Specifically, how does that-" He nodded toward the twisted limb, "factor in?"
