Everlast looked around, slowly getting his bearings and realized he must have dozed off as he was thinking. Crown? Someone is looking for a crown? Oh, right. He dug through his bag and pulled out Lightning Bliss's tiara. Everlast sat and admired it for a bit before he got up and brought it to the princess. "Is this what a distraught princess is looking for?"

Everlast got back to the hotel, and after asking the clerk where the rest were, made his way to the top floor and walked in. How did we end up in this place? Good goddess. He saw everyone settling in, and made his way to the coffee table and pulled out the new supplies he got. He sat down and began writing a letter. Currently I am now in Manehattan with a group on the trail of Starswirl the Bearded himself, and as I understand it, we are going to find a treasure he died looking for, something that can grant any wish. There is a kicker as well. To alicorns, It provides a form of divinity, which, if true, will destroy previous theories of mine, but as three members of my travelling party are alicorns I will have a chance to see this for myself. During the travel time I have been gleaming parts of their history, and will have it all documented. While this journey will throw everything it contains to the winds, it is my hope that they may have answers to the mystery I have spent many hours on. I know you will shake your head upon reading that, but while I am also loosing faith in what it says, I am going to keep that option open. Even if it holds just a little knowledge to what may have transpired to create the original Alicorns, that little bit may be what is needed. Even if it doesn't, these two options seem equally plausible at this point, so if one works, I will have made great leaps for all ponykind. He folded the page twice, and then addressed it. He placed it back in his pack and panned to send it off as they leave the city. After that was taken care of, Everlast settled into the chair and took to reading over Starswirl's notes again. As an afterthought, he tucked a few of the pages with the letter.

@, Everlast followed the group into town, and walked with them to the hotel. His feet ached worse than they ever had before, and he would be glad to rest, This would be a good chance to write... Everlast knocked himself on the head. Before they went inside he went up to Raze. "I was wondering If you could reserve a slot for me along with everyone else. I need to go shopping, and I'll be back shortly and I promise I will pay my fair share of what ever may be required." He didn't even wait for an answer before backing out and away from everyone. I made an idiot's mistake, going on this trip without the basic necessities. Making his way to the appropriate shop, Everlast purchased some blank paper, quills and ink. After getting his work supplies, He began making his way, back to the hotel.

@@Lightning Bliss "Doesn't look like you travel often princess. Don't worry, I can get you back on your feet." He split the wound between them both, and winced as his hooves burned with terrible pain. The sudden shock knocked him onto his own flank. "Well, I guess I have to give you credit. How long did you walk like that?" He slowly started to get back on his own hooves.

He transfers them.))) @@Lightning Bliss Everlast chuckled at the princesses words. "I believe you, You aren't crazy. He isn't alone in his own mind so to speak. But with what I've seen so far, I can't say it is safe to attempt to mess with it. Without knowing exactly what the problem is, I can't do anything about it."

@@Lightning Bliss Everlast had reintegrated back into the group and saw Lightning Bliss stumble around. A little problem. Something to take my mind of the big ones. "Need help princess?" He stood over her and kindly asked. He reached a hoof to help her up, and lit up his horn with his healing magic.

@ Everlast paused for a second, pondering what was just said. "The sword. It is bound to an object and I am sure it is the sword. He wasn't acting like this until the fight, when he attempted a magic attack using it." Everlast thought for a moment more, recalling everything he learned in the trip about the alicorn in question. "This brings up another question, is his power directly tied to the blade? He doesn't recall any life other than as an alicorn and he never, as far as I'm aware, received any formal training in magic. His use of fire came naturally to him. Could the sword be the source of everyhing for him? If it is, I'm doubting he will take kindly to shattering everything he has ever known. Maybe I am overreacting. Maybe this is a part of him. I really don't know him beyond the basic knowledge and what I have learned over the past three days of adventure." Everlast began to walk to rejoining the group. "Perhaps we should talk about this more later. My suggestion now is still the same as before. Look, but don't touch. If he should do something that will clearly have adverse effects on us. Then we stop him and see what can be done."

@ "Actually yes, I do have more questions. Does it affect you mentally? I understand that it is merely an arm, but it is demonic, and they tend to have ways." Everlast lowered his voice, "I ask because we may have a problem with sanity of sorts as it is you see. Blaze worries me. Well, he doesn't worry me. He- what is inside him worries me. He is not in his own mind, and I was wondering, if you could perhaps help me. I need to know what it is like to use magic not exactly your own. I need a way to figure out how I could separate two parts of a mind while leaving the person intact. Sort of like removing a magical tumor." he shuddered. "I can't use empathic magic with this kind of problem, and that takes away most of my tools."

Everlast Followed the group. While he saw the Everfree forest as proof of his main theory, it was one of those things he liked to study from a safe distance and he was eager to leave it. As he walked, he went, as usual into his books. He was glad for the extra hooves brought by the two new recruits. He slowly moved his way toward the one with the weird hoof, and when he got beside him, began pestering him with questions. @, "Hello there, I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about your magic. Specifically, how does that-" He nodded toward the twisted limb, "factor in?"

At his master's words, Everlast released the changeling. "While I have yet to find one of these creatures who would like to live in harmony, I will let it be. I will show it a kindness it would not show me." Everlast, then resumed his stoic posture, and continued to stand by his master.

@ Everlast was a little stunned at the powerful display, and wondered how effective his magic could be at countering it, if it so happened that he was not good. However, he was in quite a rush to leave the Everfree and when he finally turned away from the large gun, saw the mage taking off. He left the crowd and went to stand by him.

@@dusk shade, "A changeling. Creatures who have made it their eternal goal to see to the destruction of Equestria." Everlast used his magic to slowly carry the changeling away from his master and closer to himself. "I don't like violence, but your kind I make an exception for." Everlast, through gritted teeth and without looking away, spoke to his master. @@super2379, "Carpai sir, these creatures were a blight upon the old world, and bring no good will into the new. Do I have your permission to make an example out of it?"

(I like to wait two posts between my posts give everyone else a chance to get in the action) Everlast found a place beside, but also a bit behind his master. He on the outside put on a show of confidence, but inside, really wasn't sure what to think. He had just aligned himself with the first person to show up with a semblance of order. What if Nicola was an imposter? Of course that would be hard to tell because Everlast wasn't sure exactly what or who he was waiting for. Just as long as he got rewarded for all his hard work, he would remain loyal.

@ Everlast, after finally noticing the newcomer, sat and watched from a distance watching as everyone took turns showing suspicion for the pony. It was when the topic turned to Blaze that he got up and joined in, attempting to turn the conversation away. "Well met, uh Quickdraw I think I heard your name was? I'm saddened by the way we treat strangers nowadays. Please understand that it has not been the easiest time for us recently, and so everyone is on edge. If my voice accounts for anything, I will be pleased to have you along for as long as our roads are the same. Speaking of roads, perhaps we should be hitting one about now, I am eager to leave this place."

Almost done with his work, Everlast, made a few last notes and inspected his subjects one last time before he would release them. On the ground before him were a pair of diamond dogs trapped in the same way Bliss, Hurricane, and himself were. He had found them a short distance away from where the crown had fallen, and saw a perfect opportunity to get a glimpse into the magic the card clasher wields. He had finished studying the magic within the cards, and now knew how to deactivate them, leaving the cards intact and reusable. What a trick that would be, using his own cards against him. He finished, and picked up four cards, two with pictures of chains, and two of ice. He quickly picked up the cards and stuck them between the pages of his book, and left the diamond dogs lying there, escaping back to the camp before they recovered enough to take him captive in return. Everlast hardly even noticed the new pony approaching the group.

Everlast finished writing his journal entry, his first from a new life, and groaned as he got up from the desk. This is it then. A place where one can forget the past and start with a clean slate. I did need a vacation, But this doesn't look much different from my office at the archives anyway. Might as well get to know the rest, make a good impression, because as far as I can tell, these are my new friends. With that, he walked out of his dorm toward the main hall. He made note to check the names on all the doors as he passed by, that way he would have the names and only have to match the faces to them.

Everlast walked up to the front door of his new home. This is it. The gateway to infinite knowledge. He used his magic to open the door and found many other ponys scurrying about their own way, He tiptoed past them and to the dorm hall. His own name was neatly printed on the front of a door.He opened it and stepped into his room. Empty shelves covered the entire wall space, and his furniture consisted of a small, fully stocked writing desk and bed pushed up against the wall, leaving a wide open space in the center of the room. These people know me too well, should that worry me? He began unpacking everything. For him, it wasn't much, two books and a squishy pale blue orb. These hardly filled half a shelf. Once done, he sat at the desk and began writing.

Everlast heard the amplified voice, and he knew that it was time for him to reap his rewards. "Ponies! You who were left behind by your Cowardly princesses! Meet The answer to all your problems! He calls us to him! Come! Be part of a new and glorious age!" With that, he turned from the palace and made his way to the owner of the voice.

The world went black, but Everlast was not worried, he knew that there must be darkness in order to shine. He created with his magic tiny orbs of light and sent them around Canterlot city. He saw that many ponies seemed to have just disappeared. Not to worry, means more room for those who truly deserve it. He then began shouting into the darkness, "THE MACHINE HAS ARISEN! IT WILL USHER IN A NEW AGE! TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS WILL MEAN FOR YOU, GATHER IN FRONT OF THE CANTERLOT ROYAL PALACE!" He himself began walking back to the palace, the place he designated for gathering. A simple way to gather subjects in a single place. Then, the first meal will be a grand feast.

@@Lightning Bliss, @, @ Everlast watched Blaze imtimidate Bliss, and though it saddened him, he was not going to get involved. Unless Blaze began to physically harm others, he was not going to intervene. He continued watching events unfold as Bliss retreated and Hurricane followed. He did get up when he saw a glint falling from the sky. He chased it down and saw A princess' tiara lying on the ground. If this was thrown away on purpose, no one will mind if I have it. If it fell accidentally, I can return it when they look for it. With such thoughts, he placed the tiara in his bag and returned to the clearing.

Everlast finally found himself in front of the princesses, Luna and Celestia. He had been waiting all day for an audience and it was nearing midnight. The busy princesses had listened to the others who shared rumors of a rising anarchistic society. Well, that would be quite contradictory. Anarchists wouldn't be able to support any form of reasonable society. Lucky for us all, I am not an anarchist. He bowed before his rulers. "Princesses, you clearly know that something is coming, and I am sure that most of what you have heard is news of a terrible machine rising in the dark. I have made it my duty to separate truth from fact and tell you what I know. There is indeed a grand machine rising," He paused, gauging their expressions. "But it is not the evil presence ponies may have told you about. Forgive me for this tangent, but, as you look outside you can see the technological wonders that have helped ponykind. The airships and ground vehicles that make transportation across your empire so much easier. This machine will be troublesome at its start, as is every new development in history. It will not begin perfect. It must be worked with and fed. Given time, I am sure that you will find this to be a welcome addition to our advancing world." After saying his piece, Everlast bowed again and quickly left the palace. Soon the ponies of this world will be shown a better way.

Everlast himself didn't feel tired, so instead he just found a spot and turned his bags upside down. His two books and coin pouch fell out and behind them fluttered all of the papers he gathered from Starswirl's secret lab. When the warriors laze and rest, then does the scholar's work begin. One last thing tumbled out of the bag, A Cyan orb. For the sake of all that is holy. He quickly shoved it back into the pack and tossed it behind him. May Celestia smite me should I go back. Though shaken, Everlast returned to his mission. He spread out every piece of paper in an arc in front of him Four alicorns rule the country, I travel with three more. over Halfway there. If I'm going in the right direction at all. He opened Mazzerin's Mystery and began collating the notes of the two wise sages with his own. After a while he glanced at the alicorns. I think I have Lightning pinned down. Clover still needs an interview. Blaze...something isn't right. Everlast couldn't find anything nearby he was willing to sacrifice for the spell, so Everlast wrote on his own hoof. A flash, and the world shifted to black. He saw everyone with the varying shades of blue. Nothing too serious then. He turned toward his true subject. Oh curse everything! Everlast drove his hoof into the dirt and smudged the note, reverting back to the normal world. The last time I messed with something like that, most everyone died. Just watch, be prepared to restrain at anytime.

@, @@Lightning Bliss Hurricane joined the group and Everlast looked at her wings. "Are you going to need anything for that?" Got to give the pegasus one thing, she is tough. As the others talked about Blaze, Everlast turned and stared intently at him. Something is wrong, he knows it, we know it. That headache he had earlier, and his fainting in combat... I believe he lost control of his power. Is it permanent? Why would he distance himself then? Two options I see, he knows he lost his power and either his pride keeps him from admitting it, or he stays away for our own safety. without turning away, he spoke quietly to those near him. "Leave him be for now, I believe he just lost control. I ask that everyone keep an eye on him, but keep a distance. If he can't control fire anymore, who knows what could happen if he is stressed." He turned to the newest addition to their huddle, Clover, just returning from placing shields around the clearing. @@Pripyat Pony "You set up protections around this place," Everlast waved a hoof around the clearing. "Forgive me for questioning your actions, but how long do you plan on us hanging around here? I'm not one to force a march on those incapable of making it, but I think that we should get out of the Everfree Forest as quickly as possible. Of course, I am in no position to make that call in the first place, simply my opinion. I'd say that we have had enough trouble here."

@ Everlast, who was reaching inside of his pack for his journal, closed the bag and got up, as Blaze walked away. "Uh, I'm sorry. Sir. I did not mean to accuse you of anything. Forgive me if it was taken that way." Everlast partly trailed after the alicorn and called after him. "I just wished to know more about yourself. In addition to, as I said, gathering information to help the group work together, I am researching the topic of alicorns and divinity. So if you are not up for a more in depth interview now, I would be greatly appreciative if you would find me later." He let Blaze go on alone and returned to the main group. @@Lightning Bliss, @, @ "So uh, I suppose this should have been my first priority after a battle, but is everyone alright?" He saw Hurricane come out of the forest. "You look like a true hurricane ran through here."
