I do however thank you for making me clarify the details. No, it isn't sarcasm. It isn't really.
Well, the reason why the gems is so "bad" (do realize that I thought up the premise on the spot, so details are still spotty) is the fact that they grant the re-assembler whatever they want, it can change worlds but cannot destroy worlds. So, the villain organization is a bunch of former Soviet KGBs that want to take over the world and force all nations to be communist. (Yeah, its a bit cheesy).
Also, I do like to keep in mind that Princess Celestia does not know about the other shards in the other four universes. She's basically left into the dark. She only knows that twenty shards have appeared in the universe, and she wants to get the twenty shards in order to reassemble it. Also, what I think will happen is when 40 shards are collected by the eight, the collected shards will bring the group together into the real world, and there, they have to get to the portal at the organization's headquarters.
Ah, I see. So it's more of a DBZ plot, then? Get all the pieces and you get a wish.
It can make sense, but in the case of 100 shards, either some of them gotta be in one place or you might wanna be ready for a LONG haul.
But yes, it sounds good by premise. If you can pull it off, it'll be something I'd read. Have fun planning the details! ^.^

1. Yes, real world is Earth. And yes, I have skipped on a few details.
2. Ordered by Princess Celestia. Hmm, well, first of all, a organization who is looking for the gems is trying to get it, and they have built a portal. The heroes will try to sneak into their HQ and get to the rest of the universes to get the gem. And, its owner? That's one of the problems they have to solve as well.
3. Yes, the Conversion Bureau. And, I can imagine how it will turn out for the Mane Six to meet their TCB counterparts.
I'm still confused though. Why exactly are these gems so bad? And I realize Celestia can raise the sun, but isn't travelling universes a bit advanced for ponies? Granted, they have airports, but...still.

Here's a premise that I worked on:
1. 100 shards of a huge gem have been scattered over five universes (two of them will be my own creation, one is Equestria, one is the real world and one is TCB universe). The Mane Six has been ordered to find the twenty shards in their world. However, two humans have also took up the quest to find their twenty shards in their world as well. They are unaware of each other until the 40 shards are collected. However, a cult is also bent on searching these 100 shards. Can they return the gem to its rightful owner?
Hmmm, a few questions before I give my opinion.
1. Real world? Like...Earth?
2. Ordered? By whom, and for what purpose? What do the gems even do? And how in the world do they plan on figuring out who owns it, or even GETTING them across UNIVERSES?
3. TCB? What's that? I think you mean The Collection Bureau, I know of the universe but never read any of the stories.

Thank you for the advice.
Anyway, I also need some premises. Do you have a premise in mind? Just curious.
Ah, I'm afraid I don't. I was never a fan of - or an expert on - the HiE genre. But, if you tell me any you might come up with, I'll give you my honest opinion as an editor!

Personally, I feel like the protagonists should be teenagers. I haven't seen that more than once, actually, so...that'd be a good change.
As for interspecies, I am personally not a fan of it for its own sake. Does it make sense in the context? If so, go for it. If it's just for shock value though, it's best not to include it.
And don't think describing is purple prose! There's actually a VERY thin line that I (used to) love to walk on, and if you can tread that fine, then your story will be LOADS better. Just make sure not to use Lavender Unicorn Syndrome, or spend 2 hours describing one chair that holds no importance. -
Hey! I'm also new.
My favorite kinda switches a lot. It's Rainbow Dash currently, though.
And if we count BG Ponies, then Octavia. -
Hello there! I'm working on a GIGANTIC pony music medley, and I'm currently nearing the end of the thing! (It's already at least 14 minutes ^^) But, I'm noticing something: lately, I've simply started putting pauses before the next song, and while it works in some cases (E.G. from Life in Equestria to Celestia's Ballad), it feels like there should be something there in other cases (from I Have To Find A Way to This Day Aria, or This Day Aria to The Failure Song).
What I have here (I DEEPLY apologize if I am not allowed to post links to images yet, and if this is not allowed at the time, simply tell me! Thanks!) is the ending to This Day Aria, and I have 2 measures to transition into the Failure Song. Do we have any pony theory experts who have any ideas for transitioning from B Minor* to G Major? I have 2 measures to do so, but I can't quite think of anything.
Ideas?
((That isn't all the instruments, by the way. It goes down to Tuba, and I have a standard string orchestra too. With 2 percussion parts.))
*I know it's written in C#/Db major, but the accidentals STRONGLY resemble B (Melodic/Harmonic) Minor.
TL;DR: How do I transition to another song?

My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Rainbow Dash
How did you find MLP Forums?:
How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic:Hello there! I'm not sure if you guys can see what I typed up there, but oh well. Long story short: ponies made me write music, and I found this place through Google.
Anyway, I'm a small little backwater musician, who is currently working on an MLP medley that is 14 minutes, and soon to be growing! I'll be posting a thread about that in Octavia's Hall very shortly.
I'm very young, at the age of 16, and I have only 5 music theory related books to help me in my writing. Despite this, I have already won 'Best Composer/Arranger' and 'Best in Concert Band' awards from my middle school, proving that there's at least SOME hope for me. I'm famous for my writing style, which tends to be lacking in percussion and subtlety. I specialize in woodwinds, because I play clarinet and have for 8 years now. Or 7? I forget when I started. I'm 4th chair in Wind Ensemble, and 3rd in All-County. I also can KIND of play the keyboard. I'm good at chords and entertaining diddles, but nothing even close to fancy. (my favorite thing to play is DUN DUN DUNNNNNN)
I'm an ex-writer, but you can still find some of my stories on FIMFic. Most of my stories are rated Teen, with a few Mature stories in there just as a heads-up. I won't link it, because I believe there was a rule against that, so I'm being extra safe. But if your filter is on, those shouldn't be there anyway.
Anyway, hello there, and I hope we all have a wonderful time here! I plan to stick around for a while.
I need some premises for my fanfic

Well, just remember: no idea is 100% original.
