  1. I also listen to a bit of Miley Cyrus now and again!

Dude I'm the same age as you... You're on a forum there are men our age who like G3 and Hell MLP in general... G4 not withstanding G1-3 are mediocre at best. So why would we criticize your taste in mediocrity while enjoying our own?(Again G4 not withstanding?)

My point is, while I don't like Beiber or Miley's music, I'd like to think you're in good company... Besides I'm more of a Nsync and Backstreet boys guy... :P

  2. Uh, no.

Because if you have read Eragon, you'd also know that the series has elves, dwarves, etc just like Lord of the Rings.

If people liked the series despite it being a copycat of Tolkien's work to some degree, then having a "rider" in your book is completely acceptable.

And anyone who says that you are a copycat then screw them - no idea is "original" at this point, rather retellings of the same story over and over again. It's OK to have similar concepts from one story to another. If it wasn't OK, we'd be running out of books to write and movies to produce.

Point taken... Besides you also reminded me of how this comes with the territory of writing. There will always be someone who points out the similarities... Not only that but I've seen what happens when a writer tries waaaay too hard to be original, they end up creating something that makes no sense. I almost worked with such a team of writers, it was a real trip... >_>

  3. I was just wondering if there were any other sailor moon fans out there? The new Sailor Moon Crystal anime starts early next month.

Sailor Moon Crystal is Next month? Holy.... *expletive* Well I'll hurry up and watch those re-airings on Hulu then...

Yah, a decent dub is probably never going to come out. Most people who watch any type of anime just watch subs because with the dubs a lot of cutural stuff tends to get removed or is missing or american dubs just take out gay relationships and stuff like that.

That depends on who's dubbing it, and the airing time slot. If they do this english dub like the Dic dub then yeah they'll do exactly what you said. Which I wouldn't mind because they have to introduce it to kids somehow... But if it returns to to Toonami *inhales* Nah that's setting my hopes waaaaaay too high...

  4. Ugh, why am I even posting on this thread? Because when it comes to me and Pokemon, I'm almost as bad as a G1 Transformers fan... Well almost as bad... I herald Kanto and Johto as the best, and really fell out of the fandom with everything that came after... So I have some catching up, but as it stands later generations while they have their merits aren't immediate favorites of mine...

  5. While I believe that FiM still has a long way to go before Hasbro brings in G5, we all need to realize that G4 will eventually come to an end, and that we will all one day bid farewell to Twilight Sparkle and Co. Personally, I want to see at least two more seasons and a movie. Then, my appetite for FiM will be satiated, and I will look forward to seeing G5, preferably with new characters and in a completely new style.

While I to two more seasons and a film, I highly doubt G5 will be as good as G4 simply because of the standard this generation set... Now the only way G5 can be better is if it combines the adventurous fantasy and world building of G1 with the character building and driven plots of G4. But that won't happen...

  6. Okay long story short I was watching a review of Eragon on youtube and the moment Sophira(sp?) tells Eragon "You are my rider" my immediate thought was "Oh horse apples."

The reason being is this:"I'm guerilla marketing a short story I wrote that was published by "The Literary Yard" called The Mystic Rider, and in this story is this passage:

Rebecca came to a sudden halt in the middle of the road, before she landed in front of the unicorn who was running towards her. When Clarissa saw Rebecca, she slid to a halt, and sat in front of her.

“Are you… My… rider…?” Clarissa asked, as she was catching her breath.

Now maybe this is me think that if I'm successful in getting this story shared and read, that maybe it might be read by fans of Eragon who might assume I've seen the film, read a book and think that maybe I ripped it off for that one moment... Or maybe I'm being paranoid...

  7. @@MysticColtRider,

I agree on that you hate and respect hasbro for the use of the stereotypical environments. They're just trying to keep a balance.

Yep, and thank God for that... And I'd like to say how that doesn't excuse the under use of the background ponies and giving them shining supporting roles, but like I already said:" I think they're trying to avoid what G1 Transformers and My Little Pony did, where you had this overwhelmingly large cast of characters to where it hard to keep track of them all."

The only reason people like myself managed that is because we were invested in the world and mythology G1 MLP and Transformers had... Not to mention with Transformers at least the characters had memorable traits. But my point is not everyone can get that invested into a series. I think another problem is that something about G3 worked for Hasbro and they're trying to cling to whatever that was while balancing it out with what these new writers want to do.

  8. @@MysticColtRider,

I'd have to agree with you on that one.

Really? Why? I ask that because of this:"I'm a comic-book geek who grew up in the 90s. The only comics I read that were "kid friendly" were Sonic The Hedgehog comics, as the Marvel and DC titles were geared to guys from ages 13 and up. Simply because DC Comics published Alan Moore's Watchmen and Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns in 1986(Two years before I was born) and because of that the mainstream media in it's infinite wisdom deemed that Superhero Comic-books aren't just for kids anymore! And while some good stories came from this until the early 2000s Marvel and DC had stopped making comics for kids. And then you have the mainstream gaming market who seems to rely on the three gaming franchises: Call Of Duty, Clash Of Clans, and EA Sports titles when through out the 80s and 90s, you had a wide variety of games to choose from.

Now yes the mainstream PoV is that MLP is a pink, frilly show for little girls, but if, the battle during Canterlot Wedding, Daring Do's nod to Indiana Jones, Mare-Do-well, The Power Ponies, Twilight's fight with Tirek, and IDW MLP Comics are any indication, that PoV is changing. But my hope is that it won't change so much that it won't feel like MLP anymore. Hence why I'm glad Hasbro's sticking to their guns...

However, just because it's a show for little girls doesn't mean that the there shouldn't be character development, depth, and interesting plots like there have been so far. Honestly as a guy who's played with girls, I find it unfair that we get all the cool $%#@... Though it's kinda understandable... Statistics and all that...

  9. this.

also, I hate the term pegasister.

Interesting, why? I only ask, because I made the mistake of observing Social Justice Warriors, which poisoned my PoV on girls preferring "Brony" over "Pegasister."

Speaking as a guy who's been a geek ever since I learned to spell in Kindergarten, my conclusion was this:"No other fandom has a term that separates gender in the community, so why is it that way with the Brony Community?"

Though given that there are some who prefer "Pegasister" I'm guessing they don't mind since the bottom line is that they're fans of MLP:FiM and nothing more. Also there's the assumption that many are Fluttershy, RainbowDash, Derpy, Wonderbolt, Thunderlane, or Sisby fans.

  10. I mean give him more of a role than just a piss taking cameo, I know Hasbro are just trying to annoy us with his punchable face. I prefer his Pony design other than his human design, maybe give him a personality. And Twilight just seems to ignore his appearance in season 4 like nothing happened.

Yeah I can't think of a reason why Flash or Heck any of the background ponies aren't more prominent in the series. This isn't like Transformers Prime where they're limited by how many characters can... Oh wait nevermind, I just remembered that the focus of this series is the mane 6 and occasionally the CmC, so generally when writers have cast focused show, writers tend to create plots that revolve solely around that cast. Thus we don't get development for background characters like Flash.

That and I think they're trying to avoid what G1 Transformers and My Little Pony did, where you had this overwhelmingly large cast of characters to where it hard to keep track of them all.

Seemed like just another toy selling thing and a stereotype just to make it "girly".

A method I both hate and respect Hasbro for...

  11. They should have done a lot more with him in the show other than give him pointless cameos just to tease Bronies. Develop him as a character. TBH his EQG design was pretty munted.

Develop him as a character? You speak nonsense! Have you forgotten this show's target audience?

I'm kidding of course. I agree with you, but I don't t Hasbro will allow that...

  12. The mane 6 can use a lesser version of it when in close proximity (shown in the Nightmare Rarity arc). In the latest comic they have taken the EoH to the alternate Equestria (so it would take place befre S4)

Wow... Makes sense within the establishment of the series, but wow thanks writers for running with the new MLP Multi-verse...

Well considering Tirek was the most powerful enemy in the show we've seen and the Rainbow Power still defeated him Im not sure if there isn't anything the elements cant stop. If they did fail however I think that would add a whole new and interesting dynamic to the show

The elements failed only once, but that's because Discord disrupted the harmony of the mane 6...

  13. In the show we have only had the Elements of Harmony fail about twice. Only Nightmare Moon and Discord were trumped by the Elements. Chrysalis and Sombra were defeated by conventional methods and teamwork. I want to see Rainbow Power falter so the show can have some tension. I don't want MLP to develop chaos emerald syndrome.

I think you give the writing team too little credit, though given the restrictive Mandate Hasbro has, I really don't blame you. This is why I'm both proud and peeved at Hasbro for sticking to their guns of MLP being a franchise for 5-13 year old girls. But hey little girls need well written material too.

Umm did anyone remember? In the first episodes of MLP Season 1.

I think they failed when Twilight put the elements on them and Spike but it doesn't work? I don't know if it's right but that's still a fail right?

That was Season 2, but yeah. The Elements Of Harmony only worked when there was harmony among the main six...

  14. Hasbro wanted one even though DHX didn't because the purpose of Equestria Girls being commissioned was to compete with Mattels Monster High and other teenage girl marketed dolls. Flash Sentry was born a bastard but I am honestly neutral on him, I don't hate him and don't mind romance being used so long as it is done well but still won't deny that he seemed to well just be "there". Twilight being attracted to a human boy is believable though so I don't agree with your reasoning on that, there are a lot of humans attracted to ponies after all (why else do you think there is so much clop?) so it only stands to reason that a pony can feel the same way about a human.

That's it? He exist as a "love interest" because Monster High had one? No wonder McCarthy and the writing staff had trouble with him. They wanted to maintain Faust's vision for FiM. BUT HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN JUST A FRIEND?!

Sorry...Sorry... I just happened to expect way too much from Flash because I happen to like him. Why? Well his name... And he's a royal guard. That's wasted potential! Dx

  16. @@MysticColtRider, I got into My Little Pony about... two or so years ago. I don't really remember how I get into it though. Maybe I saw it on Youtube or a commercial or something. Sorry I don't remember... I have a terrible memory.

Fair enough... Do you collect the toys or any other Pony merch be is by Hasbro or third-party fan made stuff?

  17. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Rainbow Dash

How did you find MLP Forums?: Google Search

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Been a casual fan of G1 as a kid, fell out of it when I got older until FiM brought me back.

I'm MysticColtRider, I'm a published writer looking to share his work with others, especially my first published work was inspired by My Little Pony:Friendship Is Magic. Though to be honest I don't knw if Bronies will like it.

I also do PMVs and MLP-themed derivatives of music. I am looking to make my own original pony themed songs, but I need to learn how to play the piano first.
