  1. Well considering forgiveness doesn't work on a metric scale, I feel that the ep up until the end when Twilight and co went after Discord was frankly a really good example of Twilight getting her just desserts, but them turning the table felt unjustified and weak. If we look back, Discord has all, be it in his own chaotic way, has been trying to make friends with Twilight and given her a few lesson on friendship that old sunny and moon butt could not teach her do to reason. I feel at this time considering Twilight is a rather smart cookie, that she should know that Discord will always be a bit of a wild card. He will always be snarky and looking to get under her 45 degree angle skin since her love for all things that is law and order goes against his very nature. Its why MNFbKD had Celestia and Discord on the same side since Tia does enjoy a bit of chaos now and then, where as Twilight is to much of a lawful good to think of anything that doesn't follow her list. This episode makes for a nice come back since it does show that for someone that is a control freak like Twilight, that frankly her friends as well as she not only have different interest, but have lives somewhat outside of each other. There will always be inside jokes between sets of friends, and one simply has to learn to deal with the fact that one won't always be in on it. Everything up until the end felt organic and even Twilight's little melt down was a nice reminder that Twilight still has a lot to learn. However this frankly was ruined by the ending with them turning on discord, since honestly what were the ponies expecting since twilight more or less freaked on Discord? For him not to be a bit snide? I mean, come on. So at this point, I really think Twilight kind of needs to grow up and learn to deal with the fact that discord is not going to treat her with kid gloves. Holding a grudge about what he did isn't going to help anyone, and frankly it is a missing opportunity for her, since she is someone who really needs a bit of chaos in her life to help her grown.
  2. The part where it says one of. I agree with you on SS relationship with Twilight. They feel less like a teacher/student one and more of an older/younger classmate helping one another out. As to the canon, the books have been kind of all over the place in what is an isn't working within the TV show canon. However from what I remember the writers have said that the books are semi canon as in Berrow does ask them stuff, so certain information is canon while the whole plot might not be. Back to my point about SG. As of right now, Twilight has had no formal students. If we have to we can sorta count the CMC and her little friends, however that feels rather cheap considering how long the girls most likely studied under her and frankly she was more a tutor then a real teacher since outside of teaching Sweetie Bell how to levitate all of the other stuff the girls learned kind of came from her books more then she directly. So this leaves us in a weird place, since why would Berrow word the sentence "one of" and not her first students since "one of" makes it out that Twilight has had many since normally when using "one of" they would uses "one of many" since the number is rather vast and giving an accurate number in either to hard or impossible. So,canon wise right now, unless Twilight is going to get a slew of students before the end of the season, it makes a bit more sense to have SG come from the future. Given EG:FG ending; we have a HUGE clue as to what Twilight will most likely be doing during those two episodes. Hence why, tying SG story into a time travel centering around her wish to take done Twilight and connecting it with the new child on the way, makes a lot of sense narrative wise since it makes things less random on SG side as to why she is showing up right now.
  3. Well the book has already said SG is Twilight pupil or more she was. I think people are missing a major point that this micro synopsis is giving us. That Star Glimmer "was" one of Twilight's notorious pupils. This book clearly talking about a future period, most likely well after the show we are seeing. Think about it. Looking at You can skim the thread and see that more and more the idea of SG coming from the future makes a heck of a lot more sense. I mean if she is the future child of Cadence and Shining, she would of course have learned under Twilight. Her having a vendetta against Twilight and wanting to change things just before her birth works out perfectly. We sadly don't know everything that might have driven SG to go into the past, but I'm expecting that the S5 closer will explain a lot and the book will most likely be used as a fill in for whatever the two parter will be missing, kind of like what the comic did for SS past.
  4. The answer to your question is both yes and no. If MLP were to be on the CN, it would be easier for at least most people to watch it live so long as it was on a relatively good airing time. However I do agree with C.B. that CN has issues dealing with shows that are not of there original creation. While they have done wonders with Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Gumball, the various superhero shows and what have you, they have had a history of not knowing what to do with original female oriented shows or shows that they won't be seeing the major payout for since one of the big reasons they cancelled young justices was because the show wasn't making them money on merch. While MLP has no issue with the merch category, they are still a very female oriented show. While Steven Universe has amazingly strong female characters, the show is still centered around a little boy and because of this, I do believe the upper staff are more comfortable with allowing someone like Rebecca Sugar to pull what she does, simply because they can fall back on to the fact that SU doesn't feel "girly" where MLP does. While for use, girly things aren't bad, there are sadly still many people who just feel like putting real money into things that are "girl" oriented is a waste. It follows the very old logic that boy watch things like cartoons and anime more and longer where girls barely watched or simply didn't. This is total bs, but they do have a small point, since for a very long time, girls were pushed away from their toys earlier then boys since they had to grow up faster in a lot of respects when it came to toy/cartoons specific areas. No one by the time they were 10, were playing with "dolls" when I was growing up. This line of thinking is VERY old fashion and doesn't come close to reflecting the current cartoons/anime/toy watching and playing that goes on with girls, but people are slow to change.
  5. Great theory, frankly this ties up a lot of issues I know many bronies have had on SG motives. Issue 1: How did SG know about Twilight? Considering the amount of ponies and as far out of the way Our Town is, SG must have been working on this for a while. News of Twilight becoming a Alicorn had little to no chance of getting out there since its only been a few months in MLP time since the change happened, I mean even Manehatten ponies cared little to none about her being a princess or Alicorn, thought they are Manehatten ponies. Issue 2: How could SG have a talent or know a spell like this and yet Twilight has never heard nor seen such a spell?: Simply put it,this spell has yet to be made. Like Rarity and her Gem finding spell, this spell was created by SG in the future and she brought it with her. We already know she is a powerful mage but sadly like SS and even MD they simply don't have the natural gift like twilight does. Issue 3: Why create a spell like this?: MLP is a world that values individualism views over most others. With hints of utilitarianism/socialism and a few other ism that go along with the idea that society will be happiest when everyone is both a special snow flake but also work along efficiently with friends and lovers where everyone see themselves no better then anyone else. These are all very conflicting messages since as we can see, anytime anyone lets the ego out with how great they are they get a boot thrown at there heads (Trixie and RD) but yet everyone should strive to find that special something about them (CMC). I think if SG was born as a unicorn and was around all of these powerful alicorns all of her life, she would not only want, but would expect herself to become one eventual and then rule as the new Princess or even Queen of Crystal Empire. So what would happen if she didn't? After all the work she put in, it wasn't her "destiny" or she wasn't "chosen", personally I think she would be not only heart broken, I think she would total snap. With a quick time spell, since lets be honest, Twilight will eventually fix the time spell that SStB made since only having a minute in the past is kind of dumb and BOOM shes in the past to right the wrong and stomp all over the reign of a certain purple princess she might very well have been studying under to become an Alicorn to begin with. Because if everyone is the same and isn't some special snow flake, then she won't have to feel alone in failing what she always felt her destiny should have always been. Destroying Twilight and her friends reign will allow her to prove once and for all that same is same and different is not the same, so friendship and magic can only be harmonious when everyone is one the same playing field.
  6. Fluttershy is manipulative, but sadly the word has only become known for its more negative aspects. If one thinks long enough, Fluttershy deals with personal interaction with discord as she would with any of her wild animals, she makes sure to be in the alpha set at all times and is the one dictating the rules of interaction. While she will allow Discord enough room to explore and mess up, she won't allow him rule of the roost since, by doing so will only cause utter chaos and disaster for everyone involved. I think people need to see this type of manipulation closer to something like Pinkie manipulating a new recipe to bake in her favor rather then some-kind of evil plot of evilness. In fact, most of her girls have manipulated things to turn out in their favors and that is not a bad thing, why chance to luck, when you can make sure the outcome you want is 100% for sure.
  7. 1: No since as we see in the ep, Cadence just got pregnant and is not even showing. Horses/Ponies take about 11 months to give birth, so most defiantly the birthing of C/S foal will be in season 6 or even possible S7 if we get one. I'm going to go with the two parter since it would allow for S7 opening two parter to be a direct follow up to the end of S6 or they have it . 2: As far as we know Cadence was a Pegasus before she was an Alicorn and with Shining as a unicorn, there only really two possibilities unless there going to go with a born Alicorn which might be interesting since it might finally allow the history of Cel and Luna's past to be brought up. 3: Bring back Skyla while not a bad thing, does make it harder for them to be creative. Sooo no real strong feelings on this one.
  8. I second an episode like this. I really do think we need another look at dragons episodes and Flutters makes the perfect creature knowledgeable pony for the task. While not canon per say the MLP comics did make city dragons a thing and I could see them using such a concept within the show. Plus having Fluttershy finally confront the dragon issue and if nothing else work on her abilities with other magical creatures might be a good story point. Heck they could throw in Rarity since R/F eps have normally been good and the three of them together would make for an interesting trio. As for other miss op. Celestia and Twilight story touching on their past together and what and how there relationship has changed over the years and where they both see it going. Would make for a great SL ep using flash backs. Luna and Celestia story and how Luna NEEDS to learn how to communicate to Cel since DPDoMS seriously shows she is not talking about her feelings. Also would allow Cel to vocalize her own feels on the whole thing and maybe even show Luna that she has been through a lot through the years so she can related (MLP comics did touch on this in the reflections arc, however that arc has been seen as somewhat controversial by fans.) A Twilight and Shinning Armor ep, with just the two of them like they had with Twi and Cadence. It could easily focus on the Twilight's impending aunt-hood, with Twilight wondering where he place in her brothers life will be since so much as changed in only a 2 years and if she is up to the task of being a good aunt so someone as important as one of the first birthed princesses. And of course another proper Zecora ep since SERIOUSLY we really haven't seen her like at all. With so many international creature showing up, are you telling me the Zebras aren't going to pop up at all and be all SUP Zecroa where have you been? It would make for an interesting ep if Zecora had been on a some kind of mission or life journey and was suppose to return with something but hasn't and thus some of her fellow people went out looking for her.
  9. To be honest, I don't think Hasbro is going to let go of MLP to quickly when it comes to the TV show. Unlike all of their other shows which have ended, MLP is still going strong after five years and is still pulling in amazing number considering its not on a major network channel. I think until we get some news about the movie we really can't count on S6 being the last one, since the movie honestly could be used as a catalyst to user in season 7 to 9. Personally if I was Hasbro, using the movie like this would be the smartest thing they could do since it makes for a perfect three year arc for the characters since we already know that seasons 1 to 3 is one year in the pony world, so the end of season 6 will mark the end of the second year with the girls. If we were to have three more seasons focusing on some major stuff, new characters all leading up to some major climatic ending (second movie) in 2019, it would allow Hasbro the time and the smarts to start G5 on the 10th anniversary of G4, which marketing wise would be genius. Now if they don't and S6 is the last with a movie to tie up everything, it won't be a huge issue since most likely in 2018 we would have a new MLP show. Hasbro isn't going to let their IP stay still for very long since they know so long as they keep the basic formula the same and get someone with a half a brain to run the new show, G5 should work out rather well.
  10. Hmm lets see. Since only two of the mane six really had set goals from the beginning (Rarity and RD) and Twilight sorta kind of fell into her position, I would first give all the other girls goals. I think I would simply give the other three girls the goal of becoming ambassadors within their own elements as well as give them the responsiblities within their own CM talents., since it would allow them to continue doing what their CM talents, but allow them to take said talents and help other. For Pinkie, I think she should could easily work on becoming one of the best public relation specialist since she is always wanting to make people happy and solving people to people issues. For Flutters, easily she could take over wild life and environmental issues since with her knowledge set she could really help a lot of people out when either wild creatures, monster or plants decide to make a mess of things. For AJ, I think she would make a solid Agricultural as well as working class representative for the people. While I think she would need a bit of help dealing with some sectors (oddly Rarity could over lap in those areas), she is honestly the best every peoples pony and can related to most rather easily. With keen and too the point problem solving skills, she would work perfectly in this area. As for the other three... I equally think they could work as ambassadors and of course Twilight could honestly just learn how to be a better leader period and it would be great.
  11. Honestly I think this could be one of the better ideas when it comes to Spike getting a open two parter and an ending two patter. Adding with the girls going around Equestria because of map, we could check in once and a while with his own journey overlapping with the girl. It would allow his arc and all of the girls arcs to flow seamlessly without clunky letters. The arc could conclude with everyone coming back and as you said, with Spike as a changed character and one that has grown so the writers no longer have to deal with the issue of balancing out him as side kick child and he can be written more as a proper teen adviser to Twilight and co.
  12. @@CITRUS KING46,Is rignt in that one of the reason for the hiatus is about marketing, however Glike I do think you are onto something about it happening after the EG:FG. As we know right now, MLP lineup is the EG:FG movie, the second half of season 5, season 6 and the MLP (pony) movie. With the EG:FG in Sep, this allows the marketing team to ramp up for that without having to worry about the new episodes of MLP and the season final coming up and over shadowing it since the movie. So I do think marketing, especially since two of the new S5 episodes are Halloween and Winter Holiday themed were created with the idea that they should be shown when the human counterpart happens, hence most likely the hiatus will end near Halloween. Now for the info about SS for her possible pony return, it would be interesting if S5 left us on a bit of a cliff hanger with the arrival of SS, but the issue would leave us with another one of Twlight save everyone or SS would have to save everyone which would make for an odd S6, unless the newly reformed people were being looked at as replacements for a short time to save them...but that doesn't feel right either. I mean we could have it that the girls retain their memories of who they had been, only to find themselves living another life with what would have happened if they had never had the rainboom....but idk it still feels a bit to fanfic like for my taste, unless there looking for S6 to have some of the friends of the mane 6 going out to help and solve friendship issues with-them, as to help them regain their sparks, with SS heading the way as a new possible element of empathy. So a big maybe? It really is hard to say and the staff would really have to possible be ok with the idea of the girls not being the mane starts for season 6 since such a HUGE plot point of SS return would either have to be that she come in at the very end and everything is being left to explain in S6 or things are going to get kind of complicated.
  13. Season 4's opener more or less confirmed that one year had passed with Celestia stating it had been one year since the defeat of Nightmare Moon. Now if you look at the number of ep between seasons 1 to 3 we have 65 which if the MLP world roughly have 50 weeks, it would more or less give each week one to two episode per week. While the season 1 to 3 episodes are kind of all over the place, and I'm pretty sure the writers know that, so looking from season 4 on it seems they have been trying to streamline them more into something that will make more sense moving forward...at least I think they are.
  14. I wish they were, however this is what the official peeps have said about the comics and the books more or less follow suit. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2015/02/clarification-on-mlp-comics-vs-show.html- take it for what you will. Now, if Hasbro and DHX were to work something out it is totally possible for them to do anything and it could very well come out not only as good but better then this gens MLP. However, any spin off or new gen right now would really need to be babied, since G4's cash flow is still really hot and anything less than amazing can and will cause issues within all of the MLP fandom. Whether you liked it or not, the EQG movies and possible french TV show is and were Hasbro and DHX's test baby on how people in the full MLP would react to something like a spin off. On one hand the dems they were going after seemed to like it enough to warrant 3 movies, but it also cause a lot of people both in our side of the fandom as well as in the staff itself to have major mix feels about it from all the interviews....So yah, any new MLP spin/gens are going to need time and work to be able to step into this gens horse shoes.
  15. As far as I remember, the G4 line was supposed to go to be 9 years in total (at least the toy line and by most fan theory the show with it), so more or less 3 full story arcs if were going with the idea that MLP tells 3 seasons worth of one type of arch, such as S1 to 3: Twilight's arc to Princessdom and the growth of Friendship with the bearers of harmony, while the current one is S4 - 6: Princess Twilight's and Friends as they crusaders of friendship. Now if this has changed, then so be it, but frankly unless DHX is tired of working on G4 and Hasbro thinks the money train on this generation is slowing down and it’s ready to look to something new, I highly doubt they will want to end the series with the movie. In fact I personally thought they were going to us the movie to launch the final three seasons. Think about it. The movie would most likely come between after season 6 and before season 7, since it’s totally a full pony film, it will most likely be fully canon and thus they can have something climatic happen that will launch us into season 7 as the “final acts of friendship”. Fast forward three more seasons and have season 9 be short just like season 3 and most likely season 6 and have another pony movie conclude the series. I can’t tell you how much money Hasbro would make from structuring the rest of the series like this, but I will put my hoof on it, that it would be a lot since both movies would have HUGE ties with merch and the hype between the movies through seasons 7 to 9 would be tremendous. As for any spin offs, I think there possible, but I think the Hasbro and DHX will have to think hard about how to tie it into the G4 line without causing the issues they already with other tie in products. Hasbro and DHX has already shot themselves in the preverbal hoof with saying both the books and comics are not canon, thus making it pointless for fans to really read them since there more or less reading for pay fanfics at this point. So if they do plan for any spin offs, they better know how to tie it in and not pulls BS later on.
  16. Honestly not really. To me all or most of their powers outside of Twilights who is a boom canon are frankly super support things and are based around things they can already do. Pinkie makes people happy, Rarity creates, AJ is normally the commonsense one, etc... Due to the fact that we’re looking at the very less this season and most likely a 6th since MLP like story arcs in 3, all of the powers would be something that they slowly gain and grow over the rest of the series until the end. Personally, I see all of the powers coming with heavy cost that even while trained won’t simply be a giggle walk for them since this will be their own magic muscle being pushed and grown. The earth and peg ponies will have a very hard time dealing with draining and for someone like Rarity, becoming a buff battery will be equally difficult since knowing her spirit giving, half the time she will tend to overdo it and end up fainting since her mana pool is far smaller than Twilight no matter what. I suppose I’ve played too much table tops, but really I don’t think any of the powers are op or out of sync with what the girls more or less can already do at the end of S4.
  17. Personally I think if they do gain the ability to uses their powers at will it will take a season or two before they can fully control them. If we can take any indication of how the staff is going to treat the RP, the animatic from SDCC we did see some interesting things that might lead into such abilities being gain; sooo it’s not out of the question at this point, plus if given time the art staff will be able to re-tune the looks so their more personalized without looking so garish or over the top. If they decide to can the whole rainbow thing, then most likely will get something later power this season or in S6 that is similar but less over the top since friendship is profits and they need to make new figures every season or so and the power-up thing makes for cheap new gimmicks for toys. As for possible powers, while a lot of people have gone the rout in fanfics with elemental powers (i.e. earth, fire, wind water, etc…) for the girls, personally I see them gaining boosts or symbolic powers that play into the EoH and with the symbolic nature of their color in the spectrum. Red - Rainbow Dash: Power: To influence those around her to head the call to an issue and get behind it with the same loyalty and passion she has. Physical ability: To boosts those around hers agility and moral, especially if they believe heavily in the cause (doubly effective). Her color: Will expose the world to her energy and need to push the limits of not only herself but the world around her. Orange - AJ: Power: To tell when those around her are not telling the "honest truth" as well as bringing level headed wisdom and common sense to most issues. Physical ability: To shield and boosts the strength and defense of those around and creating either anchors or shields that those around her can draw power from. Her color: Will expose the world to her warmth and strength that shows her need to make those around her feel welcomed as part of a family or something greater. Yellow - NA but we can presume Spike would get this since it’s what left, though FS fits this color somewhat too. Green (or Pink) - Fluttershy: Power: To bring out the kindness even in the most bitter of hearts and to health those around her with a gentle aura. Physical ability: Would be a combo of healing, extending her ability to understand creatures (both sapient and sentient) as well as creating empathy and boosts wisdom with those around her. Her color: Will expose the world to her calm and positive nature that shows her need to bring a soothing balance to those around her. Blue - Pinkie Pie: Power: To bring happiness to even the saddest or depressed individual, she can bring hope to all no matter the situation as well as the ability to push those who dream big in odd ways to shoot for the stars even if most around them simply "don't get it". Physical ability: Will be a combo of boosting the constitution of all around her as well as the ability to pull random thing out of nowhere that are needed but may not be wanted (i.e. wabajack / 4th wall giggle powers). Her color: Will expose the world to her need to share her freedom of thought and body so that all might be able to find happiness in their endeavors. Violet (or White) - Rarity: Power: To see the true beauty and inspiration of the world and bring it out of both creatures and land, she seeks to show the world the truth of pure inspiration and beauty through her words, body and creations (more or less powers like radiance but with more cost and cool down). Physical ability: Will be able to create anything if the tools, time and inspiration power allows for it, boosts the charisma of those around her and give sacrificial power too all of the girls to boosts all of their abilities (buff battery). Her color: Will expose the world to her need to share her imagination and sense of fulfillment in the act of creating and giving to the world from the deepest parts of your mind, body, spirit and heart. Indigo (or Purple) - Twilight: Power: To create order, knowledge and connection (i.e. friendship) among creatures of all kinds. Physical ability: Magic boom canon, with the ability to boosts knowledge and act as a catalyst for all forms of power (good and bad). Her color: Will expose the world to her need to creature harmony and bring on an age where all creatures will be able to learn from one another through the power of knowledge and friendship.
  18. Man a Pie family ep is really need at this point, I mean between Mauds ep and Pinkies book I think a fun short about life on the farm would be great. Personally I would love a letters episode with them getting information from Pinkie about her adventures. Plus if they could tie in the pinkie book it really would make the episode ten times better. Using the book a very cute moral can be crafted as to show that the family is not taking life as serious as they did before and are proud of Pinkie for how mature she has become with her responsibilities as an Element barrier and a member of the newly titled princess of friendship court. Oh goodness yes, a Gilda ep is most defiantly needed since by this point knowing Gilda's fate and seeing if she has learned anything from the episode on her own would seriously be a treat.
  19. Well considering the spoiler for the 100th episode and some of the recent FF comics, I think if Hasbro see a market for it, espeically during the down season to air them we could honestly have MLP related media nearly all year around at this rate. As for ideas. - Zecora origins story and maybe some back history playing into the JotTW nods to their being a historical Zebra population in the Everfree. - A fun slice of life romp with the BG ponies of Applebloom class, focusing on Twist, Snip and Snails and their view of some of the more prominent ponies like DT& SS plus the CMC - Bab seed letters to Applebloom ep about her day to day living in Manehatten. Plus us getting some more definition to the Manehatten side of the Apple-Orange-Seed family - Maude Pie founding out from a letter from Pinkie about the Apple family relation while on a geology trip in Appalosa and deciding to meet one of her relatives. Hilarity ensue as Braburn and Maude not only hit it off but confound both family's as their friendship blooms - Mayor Mare focus story on her thoughts and feelings of having her little village becoming the home of Equestia heroes and all the various destruction that has incurred since Twilight has moved their. - Documentary style ep about the various non-pony races and how they react to being in a pony documentary. (This will have a lot of reference humor in the fact that outside maybe one or to races ponies as frankly dumb when it comes to understand any race outside their own) - Celestia assistant Raven gives a nice slice of life story about the goings on in Canterlot and working for the princess. - A Day and Night in the life of a Cel/Luna guard
  20. Born alicorns like Celstia and Luna? Sure why not. Since the journal did indicate other alicorns, there is no reason unless given that there can't be born alicorn males somewhere in Equestria or on some other hidden plan, waiting to show up in either the show, comics or books. Alicorns like Cadence and Twilight? Most likely not. Outside of SA, there really aren't any powerful male ponies that show a need to become an alicorn to fulfill their ultimate destiny in life, since more or less the only real reason for Cadence and Twilight ascension is that to fulfill their roles as masters of love& tolerance and friendship they needed to become alicorns to be able to tap into alicorn magic, due to it being so different from the other races and is somewhat more potent, thus allow for their powers to grow. Unless Hasbro and the writers need SA to become a alicorn, I doubt will be seeing anymore alicorns like them for sometime.
  21. Sadly do to the nature of the shows writers not putting any males in equal roles to there female counterparts, SA is more or less going to be treated like an accessory rather then a fully bodied co ruler no matter what. With TK we can assume that due to Cadence being in Canterlot that was why he was there. In EQG we can assume that he was training troops or doing something else since there really isn't any good reason why he wasn't their, outside if it being a supposed princess convention, so no boys aloud I guess? (Poor prince blood, he seriously will never get love at this rate). The only MLP media where he is shown doing anything ruler like is in the comics when Cadence was off taking a break, so we can make a small assumption there that his normal duties do not include the paper work side of ruling, which does make sense since he is a solider, thus we can make another assumption that he's in control of the military and defense side since in EG he was the one ordering the guards and private service around. Sadly at this point only a lot of assumptions can be made about SA role in ruling the Crystal Empire and the like.
  22. I hope you don't mind me jumping off of this to talk a bit about race Eloquence, since I think you covered a lot of the issue of the direct OP question and sadly I have little to add to the direct question at hand since most have answered it already. In addition there have been quite a few video dedicate to this question Emerald so I would direct you to watching them to get a bit more in-depth in understand some of the issue with Zecora; Videos: AnY thoughts: Litterbox reply to AnY's thoughts: http://ponyslitterbox.wordpress.com/2014/07/21/in-defense-of-zecora-stereotypes-as-a-problem-of-absence-not-presence/ The MLP Analyis Reddit page with Zecora results: http://www.reddit.com/r/MLPAnalysis/search?q=Zecora&restrict_sr=on Now as I said, I wanted to talk a little about race since a lot of people like to point out the MLPs fantasy world issues with race should not be compared to our own. While Zebra, Buffalo and the like have influences of cultures from our world, we should not see them as Africans or Natives of the Americas. This is something I totally agree with, but I do think that the MLP verse does have issue with racism, ethnocentrism and racial superiority which they don't hide all too well. Here is a small list of moment we can touch on in this conversation. - Look at the founding of Equestia we all know the HH story and see how the tribe each saw themselves superior to the other and only at the last minute did they come together. From the JotTS we learn two things: One: That the ponies decide to have the alicorns rule them since they saw them as creature who had all of the trait of each race (we can take this as the three group assurance that instead of coming together like a counsel they wanted someone who would not one up any of the other race to rule them) and Two: That there is a tribe of Zebra who lived in the Everfree and thus most likely Zecora came from one of those tribes and yet due to the legend of the Everfree no pony seem to have made much contact with them. I do wonder how since the Sister castle was in the EF, how the Zebra tribe were not integrated into pony society more before the NMM incident since Luna had befriend them early on. There are many reason why that could be, but it does put both side into question as to why the ponyvillians seem so surprise as having a Zebra with in their mites since one coming from the EF should not be all that surprising (late and lazy world building be damned the writers know better) Now while Zebras and Ponies are rather close in race (they can breed, creating a sterile Zorse, more or less a mule hybrid), I think we need to look to how other race have been treat to get a better feel of how the ponies react to those outside of their "race" Close ponyish races: Buffalo: Natives of the land who did get respect only after the ponies stopped thinking only about themselves Saddle Arabian: Seen as exotic and ones to be respected (note there more or less Celestia size earth ponies) Brezzies: Loved by all, and seen as creature the ponies personally have to help, for reason more self-gratifying Seaponies: All aboard the hype and love train since both in the book and comic they seemed to get on very well; though the sea ponies seemed not to be overly warm toward the group until Fluttershy had a little talk with them in the comic. Non-Pony Races Diamond Dogs: Both in the show and comics they are seen as stupid and possibly villainous depending on your views on why they stole Rarity. Griffins: All around jerks, even Gustav is seen as somewhat pompous in comparison to the other pony like characters in the MMMotFE episode, and we could go on for days about Gilda and how she was shown in GtBO. Dragons: Outside of spike, murderous beasts that are horde grabbing roughen. Now I think we can see the pattern of races portal here. The father away from pony the worst off the race is portrayed, while the closer they are to a pony the better off they are shown. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how the show writers wish for us to feel about each of these races, however I do think it does point us into the direction of the fact that ponies do have both a racial and ethnocentric bia to them for better or worse.
  23. I've read through all the mircos, mains and even the EG annual. The RD first micro was sadly a rather weak one shot for RD, since most of it relied on a lot of fandom nods (her brohoofing, her pulling off a "double rainboom" while playing a guitar) weird tech continuity (TV and or radio is a thing in the comics) and generally the plot feeling rather disjointed. While the villain was interesting (cloud gremlins balanced out the scary yet not too scare monster race perfectly) the overall dramatic stakes felt heavy handed and the addition of AJ as this weird straight pony / comic relief took a lot of the spot light off RD and felt more like a duo comic then one focus on us learning more about RD. Do to the fact that it more or less covered old ground, while note being the worse ( personally I think Fluttershys hold that, with AJ's coming in second), RD's first micro is something to only read in passing. If you looking for a far better RD focus comic, go for the Friends Forever mix with her and Trixies. Honestly it's hand down one of the better FF out their.
  24. For those looking for the spoiler As for my thoughts, I'm with Hash, since honestly this could go either very well or they will hype the heck out of it and it will fall flat since they made the episode come off as to amazing thus never being able to live up to the hype they created around it. I think from what we got theirs a lot of good promise and opportunity, but I guess will just have to see.
  25. Well considering the fact we know that G4 MLP toy division will last 5 more years, thus this was announced during season 4 so this gives us hypothetically 9 season in total if the TV is paired with this. If we assume that seasons 6 and 9 will be like 3 as in 13 episodes giving MLP three acts 1-3, 4-6,7-9 of 65 episodes, each theme around certain major arcs: 1 – 3: The rise of Twilight, Elements of Harmony and the growth of friendship 4 – 6: The new reign of the Princess of Friendship and the rise of the council of friendship with the birth of rainbow power or EoH 2.0, sisters known what else… 7 – 9: TBA With this type of break down, we’re looking at most likely something that will have to be HUGE to top whatever comes before it. I personally think that the best MLP final would be one very long fully focus arc in season 9, which would mean a 13 part storyline focusing on the final test for Twilight and friends . By this season more or less all the of loose ends when it comes to the destinies of Twi’s friends will have been answers, secondary characters will have achieved as much as they can and Twilight will more or less have fully embraced the role she had chosen and was chosen for her. Thus an ultimate test to show that friendship truly is the ultimate focus within Equestria will need to be taken to show how far the message of friendship truly goes. So with that here is my personal finally. A confrontation with the avatar of Harmony and Chaos (not Discord ) which would materialize as the great and power creator simply known as the one who writes (she will look vaguely like Fausts OC) will come and test the girls to see if they are truly worthy to sit among the council of the cosmos as equals for they are the guadrians of the world that Equestria resides in. Through trials of great hardship the girls will learn to combined their powers and become Harmony and Chaos thus creating a new true balance avatar in the world or more the Avatar of Friendship (insert fusion of all the girls into one pony body for big battle then after defusing leaving them all looking like super form (taller with some cool detailing) of their respected races, except for Twi who simply becomes a larger alicorn). This will lead the girls into becoming the new rulers of Equestria through friendship and the elements they represent with Celestia and Luna to step down as full rulers and only acting a rulers for Canterlot just like Cadence and Shinning are rulers of the Crystal Empire. More or less to me, this would be the best way to end the series since it leaves the girls destiny’s fulfilled since: Dash will be leader of WB or new group. Rarity will be the world’s premier in fashion and all things ascetics. Pinkie will be able to make the world smile through making laws to promote happiness. AJ will keep everypony level headed and make sure no one is for want for nothing. Fluttershy will be able to help all the animals through laws as well as speak up for all the sub-races so no on if left behind. And Twi will be princess of Friendship and make sure everything is at a 45 degree angle and all the treebrary are filled with books forever and a day. Add to the fact that by leaving them as powerful ponies, while being clique make for the best closure since it how most fantasy stories end since after that it simply them living day to day ruling through all the lessons they learned and applying them to the world as a whole.
