  1. What do you think the film's rating should be, G or PG?
  2. Do you think the film's animation puppets will be far more detailed than in the show? Also, do you think they will somehow be obtainable for other Harmony users?
  3. Which of the three styles of animation do you prefer? Traditional hand drawn animation (raster, if digital), vector puppet based animation (which MLP is known for), or 3d CGI animation? EDIT: Could someone move this to the media forum by any chance?
  4. I personally want it to be nearly 3 hours long. There's so much that could be put into it that an average length (90 minutes) just wouldn't be enough.
  5. With that logic, animations like Children of the Night, Fall of the Crystal Empire, and Lullaby for a Princess would've been taken down a long time ago.
  6. Since someone in another thread mentioned frame by frame, I figured I'd talk about it. We've been so used to the the show's vector cut out style in fanimations, I think it's time that we've seen fanimators make frame by frame animations for pony. The greatest software for that technique being TVPaint. Here's a few examples of what that software is capable of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE4SVN0rmrw There do exist other programs that are capbable of frame by frame. Seriously, there'd be even more possibilities with this technique. There are lots of talented non-animation artists that could make amazing animations doing FBF.
  7. I wanna see WAY more enhanced fanimations. Since we have stuff like Toon Boom, there's way more possibilities.
  8. Here's another animation done with TVPaint, looks a lot better than the other one I showed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE4SVN0rmrw
  9. Makes sense, not everyone in the fandom has thousands of dollars. XD As for Blender, CreatorOfPony is by far the most popular artist in the fandom who uses it. And her neck, but that's pretty much the artist's fault. Was actually generally speaking, but would be pretty cool seeing Duo Cartoonist delve into 3d. They'd be like Disney in both 2d AND 3d.
  10. There is this 3d animation program called Maya. It's said to be the industry standard for 3d animation, just like Toon Boom is for 2d animation. Just imagine if there were bronies that would animate with Maya, it would certainly give SFM a run for its money. But let's face it, the vast majority of bronies animate in Flash for 2d and SFM for 3d. There is one particular artist who has used Maya to render MLP character, here's a pic. Just imagine if someone could animate with this, they'd be the 3d version of Duo Cartoonist!
  11. I wonder if the fandom will actually get a hold of the film's puppets for Toon Boom, just like with the ones for the show on Flash.
  12. Then again, 95% of the time Toon Boom is used for cartoon shows, TV specials, and direct-to-video films, but movies like this and The Princess and the Frog are rare exceptions. In TVPaint however, with the right budget it could be on par with the traditional animated Disney films from the past 25+ years!
  13. Since we've learned that the MLP movie was animated with Toon Boom Harmony, it made me wonder, how do you think it would've looked if it was animated with TVPaint? Unlike Harmony, which is a vector based program, TVP is a raster based program, and is closer to traditional drawing. Here is an example of an animation done with TVP.
  14. I wonder what other programs will be used to animate the movie beyond Harmony. I could see other software like Photoshop, After Effects, etc. being used.
  15. How you think MLP was TV-PG instead of TV-Y? What kinda things do you think the show could get away with?
  16. Ok, when I said the season so far is among the weakest, I didn't say it was horrible, I just meant that it wasn't as good as the past two. I still watch the show because I care about the direction it's going. I just don't want to see it ending with a whimper.
  17. Pretty much just false advertising if you ask me.
  18. The loss of the old writers killed off whatever potential the show has left. It's going to take a miracle for the season to pick back up in the second half, and I'd be shocked if that happened. It's no coincidence that this season is among the weakest after such a great previous season. It's also unsurprising that the new writers are just nowhere near as good, even though there's a couple good episodes. If the season's second half is just as mediocre, it'll be safe to assume that the show has outlived its usefulness.
  19. It's so-so. The opener and mid-finale were very low key compared to last season's. Hopefully things will pick up in the second half.
  20. Like many other said, it has to do with the show's quality declining. Come to think of it, it's already happening with this season.
  21. Never said the other episodes are bad, just decent.
  22. It's not so much just the episode, but their feelings on the overall direction the show has taken. For me, the only real good episode this season was Gauntlet of Fire.
  23. Because god forbid someone criticizes an episode.
  24. If the fandom does end up sinking like the Titanic, they will be the ones to blame, mark my words.
