  1. It was OK. I think the biggest issue is that it's another story that should have taken 3 episodes, not 2. I believe the length is why we have the rushed ending and why no one ever explains how the sun and moon are working if Luna and Celestia are comatose.
  2. Struggling through Bablyon's Ashes from The Expanse series. So far I find it to be the weakest of the series by a far margin.
  3. Binged over the course of two weekends. I'll be the first to tell you that this series has problems--characters, pacing, and continuity come immediately to mind. But, it's just having so much fun (you can tell that the creators had a blast making this), that you usually end up having fun along with it. I also like that it has some seriously amazing action sequences and that it's not afraid to end on bittersweet notes. In season 2 and the special it often feels like a more mature show trying to fit inside a kid show's skin. Thinking of giving the MMO a shot, though I've heard some negative things about it.
  4. Robots that do clean up and extract recyclable materials from garbage fills.
  5. A food critic that only likes specific food sounds like a terrible food critic.
  6. Another episode that I liked, but seemed a bit too high-brow for most kids I know.
  7. Well keep in mind that the people who liked it probably aren't as likely to say anything as those who dislike it. I liked it, though I wondered if maybe the lesson was a bit too high-brow for a kids show.
  8. Use Firefox mainly because I don't like supporting Google more than I need to, and I don't like Chrome's design or addons. For me, Firefox gives me more of the addons I want. I do also wish it was less Chrome-like though.
  9. Witcher 1 Trying to decide if I want to risk a blind playthrough or use the wiki decision checklist (mostly to make sure I don't miss anything).
  10. A lot of it is perception. Most of the anime we get in the English-speaking world is the popular stuff, which in Japan tends to mean shonen series, which means its catering to boys so it's unlikely to do much with its female characters. Exceptions exist of course, but I would say you'll find more interesting women outside of the strict shonen genre.
  11. Recently built a whole new PC. 12. I think this is one of the best constructed episodes we've ever had, but it falls down just a little on the delivery. The problem is that they kind of messed up the Scrooge archetype, and then they sort of gimped the final lesson. First: Scrooge archetype is more apathetic than destructive to the holiday spirit. So in the episode Snow doesn't quite work as a Starlight expy because Starlight is just apathetic, not malicious, towards Hearth's Warming. It's still pretty good despite that, but the final lesson is kind of ruined--in A Christmas Carol the final lesson serves to remind Scrooge of his mortality and how he'll die alone and unloved. So, with everything else it's better for him to embrace the holiday and be happy while he can. And while that's definitely the final result of the episode, the story's idea of "Be happy or you'll die in a pile of snow" kind of undercuts the message of being merry with family and friends. Ironically, the Family Guy cover song is poignant here--in that same episode Chris make the observation that since he professes more selflessness than Meg, he deserves more presents, right? "I'm being happy to save Equestria from a snowy death, so I'm doing better than you." It doesn't wreck the episode, but I feel like the episode would have gone further without it. Especially if Starlight Glimmer hadn't swapped attitudes quite so quickly and whole-heartedly. Also, I kind of wanted to see Twilight be the Spirit of Christmas Future, though I suspected Luna and admit she works better.
  13. In Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it's possible to do a number manipulation on the boss door in the first dungeon that results in you entering the final level of the game, fighting Ganon, as a child.
  14. Never felt the inclination. Doubt I ever will.
  15. I work in Information Technology with a current focus on Desktop Support, but I'll likely progress that to either a Network, Security, or System Admin focus. I don't really have a dream job.
  16. Hey! Fluttershy assaulted her! We all saw it!
  17. This episode hurt me in my soul, but in a good way. 5/5
  18. Hit a bit in the feels, though I have the opposite problem of Applebloom.
  19. I liked everything about it except for Trixie's voice. Even when she's being honest she sounds like she's lying through her teeth. I don't think that's how it's supposed to work.
  20. I learned that Pinkie litters a lot.
  21. Teen Titans Go!, lol. Laziest attempt to cash in on nostalgia ever. Young Justice actually tried to do new things, and was doing pretty well at it too. If they want to actually do those competently they need to take some cues from their good works. Like the original Teen Titans and the Justice League, or even the classics like the original Batman/Superman. Not to say they should repeat them by any means. But I think the last successful "original" animated work they made that was piggybacking off of something else was Batman: Beyond. Chibi characters were just not the way to go. That rant aside. I don't know that they would ever be able to achieve the kind of profit that Marvel/Disney does nowadays--I mean, Marvel has Disney behind them, that's nigh impossible to compete with. They should have just shifted the battlefield elsewhere. I have some hope for Suicide Squad, but that's about it right now.
  22. Thank you for the explanation. I certainly agree that fixing the law would solve all of the issues surrounding this much more effectively. Although I have severe doubts about us being able to do so. In my knowledge the US courts have pretty much always agreed to the further empowerment of copyright laws, I don't know that they've ever decided in a way that doesn't increase the length or powers of copyright holders.
  23. DMCA doesn't even talk about what's to be done with revenue AFAIK so I'm not sure how you are reaching the conclusion that holding periods wouldn't be permissible. Clearly there's some leeway in what's done with videos since YouTube doesn't just strike them from the site the moment they receive an infringement. Transferring content or revenue aren't even topics that come up in the DMCA to the best of my knowledge. ETA: I guess to my view, YouTube's processes don't seem necessarily driven by the tenets of DMCA. The process itself of course. But I'm more inclined to see its limitations as purely a result of YouTube's design, not because they sat down and determined that the current system is the absolute best possible solution given the law. Like you said, they don't want to deal with DMCA claims, so they designed a system that would suffice to protect them and left it at that without taking extra steps that they could have to protect their content creators.
  24. Honestly, if I could advise DC I would tell me to invest in their animated films and series. They've always beat out Marvel soundly in that aspect with only a few exceptions and they could product animated films and series that could be put out more frequently, for longer time frames, and with better continuity than Marvel (see: the X-men vs. the rest of Marvel canon).
  25. I'm not asking YouTube to be a white knight of justice. I'm asking them to be the kind of knight that creates a better system by which to handle complaints. The issues with YouTube are not inherently tied to the nature of DMCA claims. The entire take down process could be made inestimably better by simply not allowing others to steal revenue from videos until the claim has been settled and by allowing YouTube creators to handle more than 2 claims at a time so they don't have to worry about getting their channel banned for silly reasons. After those changes the claims would be an annoyance, but not necessarily destructive to channels. None of that has a thing to do with the DMCA law, it's all YouTube's processes as they laid down at their discretion. Right now the only reasons that these wouldn't be happening would be because YouTube doesn't want to overhaul the system due to the investment of time and money on their end. In my understanding it doesn't threaten them directly on a legal level to change either of those two things. ETA: Changing the DMCA itself should also happen in order to prevent so many of these issues from occurring, but that's a whole other can of worms.
