  1. The fact that there is no background on Celestia and Luna makes this a bit hazy, though. Celestia and Luna were both alicorns long before they were made princesses according to the Journal of The Two SIsters written by Amy Keating Rogers, and they were raised by other alicorns in the process. There probably are some non royal alicorns floating out there, but hard to say one way or the other until the show or any other canon materials addresses it. Alicorns tend to be regarded as being outside the three main tribes and therefore not subject to the same biases and prejudices that earth ponies, pegasi, unicorns do while at the same time embodying the three races because of their unique traits, so I am not surprised to see a natural tendency for the other ponies to gravitate towards alicorns as their leaders. However alicorns are just as flawed or corruptible as any other pony, and one of the biggest issues in show and in the fandom is that there is tendency to place alicorns on pedestals. The franchise places value for royals on merit, and not through inherited titles through bloodlines.
  2. Seems like she could be a major antagonist in Friendship Games going off what little we know about her so far based on the toys/
  3. If it continues to sustain itself like it has so far, I won't be shocked to see if it carries over. Maybe the next show for G5 might be an Equestria Girls one!
  4. There is a fine line between being constructive criticism and being hyper critical. Some people cross that line to the extreme, and others are able to keep it in check.
  5. Sounds like an interesting episode, and I can't wait to see how it is executed. So far Season 5 seems to be exploring some far more mature themese.
  6. Being a princess means protecting and guiding one's subjects. Seems like a simple concept, but it is actually a lot more fluid than one would think. Everyone thinks of directly literal protection against whatever supernatural threats there out there, but I think it more or less focuses on being a teacher and example to others more so than any political responsibilities that we seem to try define the title by. It also apparently means being willing and able to pick up the responsibilities of others should something prevent them from doing as such. So to put it in simple terms the title means whatever the heck the staffs and show wants to do with it. The show does not treat the title of princess in a conventional fixed sense, so perhaps we need to see as a more of a fluid dynamic as Twilight's responsibility seem to range from the extreme such as in Twilight's Kingdom to something a little mundane such as in Trade Ya for example It does seem like Twilight is going to find what out more of what it means to her as she sets forth to spread her mission with her friends, and early sneak clips shows her owning up to it by having her refer to it as "my mission." It's fluid in terms of adding new duties and responsibilites depending upon the story. The four princesses are everything we think they are and more: leaders, Royals, protectors, etc. Trying to define them badly misses the point. Agreed.
  7. So basically Twilight is in agreement with all those complaining bronies who started those save the tree petions and the like then. I would not go that far, but rather it seems like she is struggling to cope with the loss of her home. I believe she is going to accept the castle by the end of the episode but she may be going through several phases of grief in order to do as such. In all seriousness though, they seem to be making Twilight a little too mopey as a princess. Admittedly Twilight is still trying to walk a fine line here as she wants to embrace the title but she is reluctant to do so out of fear elevating herself above the others. But yeah the staff has been sending some mixed signals.
  8. There are consequences for decisions and prices to pay for such decisions. Sometimes there are no clear cut positive outcomes with certain actions.
  9. Sounds like another case of Applebloom starting to fret over earning her Cutie Mark.
  10. Sounds good. Sounds nice, but hopefully they change the title. It sounds a bit odd. I believe it is an attempt as a play on words to the expression of Home Sweet Home, and if this is case than I can see what they are going for.
  11. No. There really seems to be no point in bringing them back at this point.
  12. Because Hyping Up stuff is absolutely stupid. It spoils the show. Next time Hasbro hype something up, keep your viewers in mind. It is called advertising and marketing. Looking at these clips so far Hasbro and Discovery Family has not spoiled all that much, and they don't care provided they sell more toys while keeping the numbers. A bit off topic but, if the CMC ARE getting their cutie marks this season, (which, god i hope not) why isn't there merchandise hyping it? The royal wedding got hyped up before it aired, Alicorn Twilight got hyped up before the episode aired, and the rainbow powers were hyped up way before the season 4 finale aired. But this? we get nothing. Because there is no point in advertising the CMC's with Cutie Marks as far value for the advertising buck goes considering they are secondary characters at best. Maybe there simply is no merchandise with them having Cutie Marks at this point so that would make it impossible to advertise; The first several episodes sound decent enough/
  13. I believe this Smooze is going to be a different beast altogether from what was seen in the My Little Pony The Movie, and it may actually not be evil per say. Should be a fun episode.
  14. I take that as a good sign for the show then considering everyone else has their own achievements and their own glorification at times as well BTW there is no endless glorification of Twilight at the expense of others.
  15. At this point in time I would rank their maturity like this. Twilight Applejack Fluttershy Rarity Rainbow Dash Pinkie Pie
  16. Twilight's Kingdom. It certainly went above and beyond the other key episodes while promising to have a lasting impact on Season 5.
  17. No, but I see no point in getting rid of him at this point either.
  18. Young Adult. I suppose it is possible that that her mane could have changed with time with an increase in magical growth though.
  19. Celestia's mane was depicted as her current color in the Reflections Comic Arc, and that is an example of a younger Celestia as far as any official materials are concerned outside the show. I don't think her mane has changed colors at all truth be told. and the whole pink mane is just an oversimplified depiction her mane Flowing manes on the other hand may have something to with a magical energy as Twilight seemingly almost got one in Twilight's Kingdom after the whole power transfer.
  20. Yep. Jim said nothing about the comics being non-canon. The short novels are still canon, and even the primary writer for them is writing an episode for Season 5.
