  1. just seriously stop when ever any of you say the show is ending you make me feel very ill inside depressed how would you like it if a show that helps you get through your high school year with bullying threats and other things that have happaned was coming to an end think about that before you say something because what you say effect my health and my attitude and everything else. so if you dont have something positive to say as my teacher used to tell me dont say anything at all

As someone who gets obsessed with certain things and has trouble finding new interests I know how you feel when people tell you something you love and have become emotionally attached (MLP:FiM for example) to is going to die soon. But even if the fandom dies off a bit we still have the show, the real concern I have is whether it can maintain a high quality after all these years. Don't worry about the fandom,it isn't dead yet.

I would recommend you find other interests to get your mind off the fandom for a bit, it may help your mental state.

  2. If you live outside of the US it is pretty much impossible to legitimately watch MLP, for this reason I also pirate episodes.

It is legally wrong but I doubt it takes much money away from the people who actually make the show, I remember reading once that Hasbro gets most of the profit while they get a tiny percentage (as usual with large companies).

  3. I'd prefer it if she stays flightless because not everyone is able-bodied and that shouldn't be a reason to look down on them, Scootaloo shows how people/ponies can still achieve things without being 'perfect'. I think that this 'flaw' makes her the character she is, it would be weird to suddenly have her learn to fly after it has been implied in the past that she is incapable of flying.

If she does I won't mind, maybe it just takes longer for her to learn things like flight.

  4. I've been lurking the fandom for 3 years now and I haven't seen a massive decline yet, it has been more of a gradual slow down. I would say that there is nothing to worry about.

Remember that not everyone who is into the show will be producing content right now, I bet that there are many people like myself who don't get involved much right now but that doesn't rule out the possibility that there will be some who go on to be content producers in the future and there will also still be people who are only now joining the fandom.

I understand why you are worried, but this fandom still has at least a few years ahead of it. :twi:

  5. This show is targeted to girls and always will be, I like that they aren't trying too hard to pander to the fandom (or any other adult male viewer) and continue to give little girls the quality entertainment they deserve. I guess that the reason people don't like to consider MLP:FiM as a little girls show is because it isn't 'girly' like most shows aimed at girls or because they don't want admit to the fact that they watch a show that is aimed at little girls.

What Jim was saying is that the aim of this show is to create high quality entertainment for young girls with strong female role models that isn't dumbed down or girly, if anyone outside of the target demographic also enjoys the show for these reasons they shouldn't take offence at being told they like a show for little girls as it is just a sign that for once there is a well made show which is aimed at girls.

While I don't often support media/entertainment which is solely aimed at a certain gender I will make an exception for MLP as it doesn't rely on stereotypes but instead breaks them in such a way that even though it is targeted at a certain age and gender it can still be enjoyed by everyone. But it is important to note that because it can be enjoyed by all doesn't stop it from being a show for little girls.

I don't know what criticism he was getting but I'm guessing it was by bronies who think that the show is being too safe or not dark enough this season when, in my opinion, it hasn't changed that much at all from season 1. This show has limits as a show for kids but the writers still manage to create deep and interesting stories which have been and still are entertaining us older fans, but at the same time it is trying to remain a light-hearted kids show that will not alienate the target demographic. Jim isn't pointing out the fact that this is a little girls show in order to avoid criticism but to explain why it is impossible to give bronies everything they demand out of the show.

tl:dr: Jim and all the writers of the show are aiming to create a girls show that can still be enjoyed by all. He is not insulting us by telling us we watch a show for little girls but instead explaining why we should not be acting so entitled stop whining when we do not get something we want out of a show not even aimed at us and has strict limits.

  6. I thought 6 was the end when there wasn't an announcement during the mini hiatus, glad to see I was wrong. I don't think the show is going downhill, the new writers just needed time to improve and the second half of this season was great.

Hopefully MLP:FiM will end with an episode focusing on the mane 6 because one of the reasons I wanted an extra season is because this season's finale will be about Starlight (haven't watched it yet, its probably still going to be good).

  7. I am unable to watch or re-watch Slice of Life, they could have made the 100th episode great to celebrate the milestone but instead we got background ponies and fandom pandering.

Other than that I would have a hard time re-watching Newbie Dash because the majority of the Wonderbolts acted like assholes to Rainbow Dash and then apologised by explaining that they act the same to all new Wonderbolts as if that somehow excuses their bullying.

  8. 1. Flurry Heart - Why does she exist? All she does is create problems by being way to overpowered. Hopefully there will be no other alicorn babies in the future.

    2. Zephyr Breeze - Hopefully he will never appear again, it is painful to watch him.

    3. Starlight Glimmer - I don't hate her and I'm ok with her making an appearance every once in a while, but why is she now one of the main characters? She only exists to replace Twilight and I hate that. The mane 6 worked well as they were adding Starlight was unnecessary. It also is confirmed that she is the main character of the season finale where the rest of the mane 6 (or is it mane 7 now?) won't even have important roles. I can see her becoming the 6th alicorn soon, I hope i'm wrong.

  9. I've noticed this actually. I don't think it's limited to merch, either. Nowadays, there's more Brony cringe compilations out there than there was two years ago and it seems like going into a non-MLP related discussion with a pony avatar is almost like stepping in a landmine field.

You can't openly be a brony on the internet without getting harassed, idk if it was like this before.

  10. Luna>Rarity

Luna is still the most overrated princess imo(Lots of fans compared to Celestia but still isn't seen that much) but she was great in the most recent episode so I like her more now.

Rarity is the only character in the mane 6 I don't like.

  11. Finally finished watching S3 today (i've been using this small hiatus to catch up on s2-s5).  This episode felt like it should have been a two parter, it felt like it was rushed and should have been twice as long. It is a good episode overall though.

  12. It wouldn't be likely for them to start a new generation so soon. Even if G4 ends in 2017 when the movie releases I would think that G5 if it ever comes into existence wouldn't start until after 2020, there have been big gaps between generations in the past.
