  1. whoa. that is FULL of ponies. thanks!
  2. that's true. I guess we could rationalize it any number of ways. one more thing...I picked up on the "man" reference, but to me, I felt like the dude came across more like a socal surfer voice moreso than the real dude. maybe that's just me.
  3. One thing that struck me as cringy about the particular part with the bugbear was how the mane 6 all popped up immediately like they're the resident superhero crime fighters. Even if they are, I like how most episodes have them genuinely falling into problematic situations instead of just some random big bad showing up and then they pop in and out of a phone booth ready to fight crime.
  4. Maybe this already exists, and if so, could you point me to the right direction to find it? But I think a good thing to have would be a thread or sticky that is a listing of all the significant ponies and creatures who have appeared in any of the episodes, their photo and a description of their appearance, a little bit of background in terms of their personality and character history including if they appeared in the former generations of MLP, any character relationships/correlations/references/significant facts, and maybe even a list of episodes that they appear in. Sort of like a mini Wikipedia here in the forums. No OC characters or stories. That would be incredibly helpful to those new to the show and forum to get oriented a little better to all the characters. Just a suggestion! ETA: Above, I suggested no OCs or stories, but in the event that the fandom influences official canon and especially if its included in an episode, that would be something significant that could be included in the description.
  5. So this is me showing my ignorance and noobness to this forum but can someone sort of define all of the fan service references? Like I don't really get the lyra/bon bon excitement or the twicane one or the excitement over the name Steven magnet.... What are all the things I'm missing?? The pop culture ones I kind of recognize like Dr whooves and big lebowski n such but I'm sure it goes deeper than that?
  6. Animation error! Derpy walked off with no wings in one shot.
  7. I am watching this right now for the first time. My opinion is its pretty terrible. I don't like the idea of ponies as humans. At all. I will admit the mane 6 hairstylings are cute, but their overall body shapes drive me nuts. I get it, they have widening feet because the ponies do, but I don't know, it doesn't translate well for me. The only thing I like is spying a background pony as a background human. If I see it airing in the future im positive I won't watch it again. Sorry. I guess I just see it as pointless. The ponies are strong enough characters that I don't see the necessity of transforming them into high school girls.
  8. My cat is named lexi and I like pinkies name pinkamena so I combined them
  9. How dare you leave out King Haggard from The Last Unicorn?! Just kidding. Doesn't rank up there with his greatest roles, but that one is my favorite.
  10. I thought his voice and demeanor was a reference to Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade, of course without the slight mental illness and the murdering.
  11. I hear what you hear in the last two verses. Haven't been able to figure out what they mean with "you have my little ponies" or if I'm even hearing it right but that's what it sounds like to me.
  12. So in the restroom just now at work i realized I still had a huge sparkly paper flap tag attached to the back pocket of my new pants.
  13. I'm sure there have been girls and women who love horses since the beginning of time
  14. People who talk loud over their cubicle walls about dumb s*** Grown women who try to use a teenager Valley girl accent People who go on and on about their kid being "a cool little dude or chick" or gushing about their kids in general People who can't pick up a hint People who ask to borrow my stuff - no, go buy your own People who answer texts in the middle of me telling a story People who walk off during a conversation expecting me to follow you around to talk to you People who text during movies - especially one I recommended you watch or one you asked to watch People who text and drive - maybe you don't care about your own life but you are also endangering others People who tailgate - I bet $1563 you don't have car insurance or liability only on that pos, and if I have to brake unexpectedly and you rear end me I will end your life on the spot People who cut into the space I maintain between me and the car in front of me - that space is not for you People who sit in the right lane at a stop light but are going straight blocking the people who could turn right on red People who don't get up to speed on an entrance ramp and try to merge 30 mph below the moving traffic - the entrance ramp is designed for you to get up to highway speed People who drive the speed limit in the passing lane and refuse to leave that lane - you're actually breaking the law by doing that Shopping center or housing development going up EVERYWHERE geez we don't need any more population in the town I've in People whose voices carry across restaurants - if I wanted to hear your conversation I'd come sit at your table with you
  15. I have noticed this as well about the word average. How many times have we heard on tv "the average person..., or the average whatever... " The word average does not mean "random" or "non-specific" or "in general." Average means if everything was equal, so it's never a real illustration of what it's being used to describe. Ugh, a real pet peeve of mine.
  16. I thought I heard in one episode Rarity refer to herself as Rarity Unicorn but common sense tells me I likely misheard and she probably said 'Rarity, the unicorn....' Either way, it sounds silly except in the specific context it was used.
  17. I can see that. Maybe that was all she was meant for. I think one reason they went with the hippie/treehugger gimmick was to provide a realistic commonality with Fluttershy, otherwise they could have put any pony in that role.
  18. I felt that Treehugger was supposed to be likeable, yet distasteful for a completely different reason, at the same time. It takes that duality to really bring out the jealousy which was obviously the bigger picture. You were supposed to not like her, but not for any real reason...so you could relate on Discord's level. The audience thinks 'I hate her but I don't know why, must be the stereotyping.' Well played.
  19. I started out not caring that much for RD because I sort of felt a sense that she was a "token" character, like she was there solely to appeal to the tomboys of the viewing audience. The same with Rarity, like she is deliberately girly and fashion minded - to appeal to the girly girls. But the more I watch, the more I feel those ideas break down, and I start to appreciate them for their personalities regardless of who they may or may not appeal to. Nobody gets to have a pony representative, and I think that is reading way too much into it anyway. I still don't care for her much because her personality clashes with mine but that's ok.
  20. I think the writers have to walk a fine line. It's got to be difficult coming up with original, clever, and entertaining material when a huge fandom exists where people are coming up with their own episode ideas, pony design and names, etc and potentially using up all the good concepts. The developers have got to be wary of accidentally stealing an idea from some fan site. The same with music in today's world it's all been done, said, heard, thought of, copyrighted.
  21. If Apple bloom gets some incarnation of a fruit and scootaloo gets a scooter I will 100% riot in the streets.
  22. Don't like shipping. Not my thing.
