what do you think the future will be like?
WelshPony replied to derpyhooves86's topic in General Discussion
The Future will have.... Humans Coffee Shops. Internet Porn Awful weather (When has it ever been good?) And Capcom still holding back Mega Man. -
So I was on Linkara's YouTube page the other day, and some person on there commented that while Linkara is amazing, Doug was evil and compared him to... (get ready for this) ... Adolf Hitler. The commenter continued saying that Doug needs to die because of how evil he was. Now I've never met Doug Walker in real life, and have only viewed him through a computer screen. But I'm pretty sure Doug didn't go to Germany, write a book about his struggles, and started the Fourth Reich. Now he is guilty of invading things, as seen in Kickassia. But I don't think he set up prison camps and concentration camps, unless that footage was in the deleted scenes. Sometimes you wonder how people make these wild comparisons. Are they just so full of hatred that they go to such extremes? The only thing I can blame Doug Walker for is how he's continuing to kill my eyes through watching his show on my laptop screen.

The second paragraph of your post, including that last sentence of said paragraph. And your third paragraph in that last part, saying that I, (the word "you" was highlighted) only became part of this discussion because the show made me feel unique. And when posts like this come I have to come to the shows rescue. Yeah I think that pretty much says it all.

"Its not terrible, I just think it's a generic kids show" This and the post you made on SpongeBob is the reason why I'm puzzled you made a question like this on a fan forum. Because of course a majority are going to disagree with you. Its like if I went to GalifreyBase and asked if Doctor Who was rubbish, they of course wouldn't take it lightly. Edit: @ Code I became a Brony, because it was one of the best cartoons that there was at the time, and it still is. A majority of us have not stuck around because its different or made for us. We enjoy it because its a good cartoon.
-
Problem is the OP has a unmovable opinion that MLP is terrible which of course defeats the purpose of discussion. Seriously check out the "Why do Bronies hate SpongeBob" thread, he made a post there recently which sums up this thread in a nutshell. Edit: Nobody said the show was made for us, I said it was aimed at children and adults, there's a difference. Kids and adults are a general audience, end of story part three. SU, GF are made for kids but aimed at adults too, just like MLP.
-
Your example is different, the church thing is just asking questions. The OP is asking if the show is overrated, and the OP has said that the show is terrible, so we all know why he's asking these questions. But why is the OP asking it on a fan forum? That's basically sticking your arm in a hornets nest.
-
@OP Why do you think we're lying to ourselves? We all have our own tastes, its got nothing to do about deluding ourselves. Also Gravity Falls, Steven Universe have huge adult fanbases like MLP but they are not moved to a prime time either, but the people behind the cartoons know that they have an adult fanbase. And they aim for that too. Kids and adults are a general audience, end of story. Batman Tas and MLP FIM was amade for kids but aimed at a general audience, end of story again.
-
1st point: The show was still moved because of an adult fanbase, end of story. Its got nothing to do with Prime Time. 2nd point: Kids and Parents (adults) ARE a general audience. End of story. 3rd point: Yes, MLP is nothing like Batman Tas. BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT! Batman tas was made for kids, like MLP. But the creative staff both aimed these shows at a general audience. End of story.
-
Why shouldn't a show made for kids have a following? Steven Universe was made for kids, and that has a following. the 1980s' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was made for kids and that has a massive following too. And if the OP didn't want people to react like this, then why has the OP asked a question like this on a forum about the show?

1st Point. MLP was originally on 8:00am on Friday and it was moved to 10:00 am on a Saturday after the networks learned about it's adult fanbase. 2nd point: Faust made MLP FIM for kids and parents, in other words a general audience. Same with Batman TAS, it was made for kids but aimed at a general audience. 3rd point. The networks only wanted Batman TAS to be made for kids so they can sell toys and tie it in with Batman Returns. Bruce Timm however wanted to be seen for general audiences. So yes the show was meant to only be liked by kids. But Timm had other ideas, same for MLP FIM, it was made as a kids show, but Faust aimed it at a general audience.

@GrumpyEnchantless 1st point: Yes The Muppet Show was aimed at kids and adults, in other words, A General Audience, same with MLP: FIM it was made for kids but aimed at a general audience too, like all kids shows. 2nd point: Perhaps you didn't read my post properly. Batman Tas was MADE for kids, but like all kids shows it was aimed at a general audience. 3rd point: Batman the animated series was made for kids, end of story. Besides FIM has invasions, monsters attacking the characters, and one episode had a villain enslave an entire city. Its not all friendship and cuddles.
-
So? It's still aimed at a general audience. No matter how much you personally interpret a cartoon. Batman the animated series only had kids in mind, but adults love it, and the networks knew this. And its the same thing with MLP:FIM, it was made for kids, but its still open to a general audience, which includes adults. .
