  1. I don't hate Starlight Glimmer, but I'm gonna have to go with her. Starlight's was rushed and her backstory was weak. Nobody in their right mind would turn evil over one lost friend.
  2. To me, her villainy was never justified. Her anger and insecurities of not having friends, however is, in my opinion. Having no friends growing up ruins one's self esteem and social skills, and this is coming from someone who didn't have that many. I do side with the fans when it comes to how weak the backstory is and how petty and childish it makes Starlight comes off as, which is why I feel she needs more depth.
  3. I agree. That's what I said. I think what Starlight did was an overreaction because she only lost one friend. I just don't like how how people think it's wrong to be resentful over not having friends growing up.
  4. I think it's pretty unfair how fans are expecting her to get over not having friends growing up. Not having friends growing up can deteriorate people's social skills and self-esteem, which is why Starlight is the mean evil villain she is. Now I can agree with the fans that Starlight's backstory needs a lot of improvement because it did seem kind of weak and rushed. It's not realistic for anybody to become evil and angry over one single lost friend. It takes more than just that to become a villain. For me, there are some friends that I lost and I didn't cry or get upset. Heck, I even moved on quickly from some people. However, I didn't have many friends growing up and my classmates bullied me for being unattractive and weird. I'm a female and I had a difficult time making and keeping female friends. I still don't have many friends as an adult and I've been backstabbed, bullied, and humiliated a lot. Now I've never wanted to go crazy and start a cult like Starlight did, but I'm unhappy and angry as a result and sometimes tempered to just not be a nice person because of it. Here's a question for fans: if Starlight kept on trying and trying to make friends and she was constantly rejected and she was constantly bullied, would her backstory make more sense to you guys?
  5. No, I meant to say that I will never agree with Starlight's actions of starting a cult because that's too much, but I agree with her getting angry over losing her only true friend. I don't think Starlight should have been forgiven that easily, but if Discord, someone who was just as bad as she was, can get reformed, why shouldn't Starlight?
  6. Agreed. Lots of bullies in real life grew up in abusive homes and it's realistic. I actually do not like Diamond Tiara as a character, but it's an understandable excuse.
  7. Starlight isn't the most childish villain. I find her to be the most realistic because there are people like her in real life who grow bitter over failed friendships and turn evil or turn into heartless jerks because of it. Starlight also needs professional help as well because her actions just shows how crazy she is.
  8. So why are people only targeting Starlight's reformation? So you're telling me that you won't be a little bitter too if you lost a friend that meant a lot to you and didn't have any friends growing up? And I'm pretty sure the people expecting Starlight to "get over it" are the people who had lots of friends growing up. Coming from someone who's been friendless for years, I would have turned into a jerk too if I were Starlight (minus the starting the cult thing).
  9. To be fair, while I don't think what Starlight did was right, but she does have a point that some people think they are better than others (Diamond Tiara, for example).
  10. And I'm supposing you had a lot of friends growing up? Now I can understand why you will have a problem with Starlight being forgiven easily, but wanting her executed is ridiculous. Other characters were just as bad as she was, but they didn't get death. Starlight has every right to be angry and bitter over a lost friend, but her actions were wrong.
  11. I agree. This is why I hate losing friends, because they become my enemies. I also sympathize with Starlight and feel that her Freudian excuse is justified. I noticed that the only people who don't sympathize with her were the ones who probably had a lot of friends growing up and they were popular in school.
  12. - Discord, Tirek, King Sombra, and Chrysalis are my least favorite antagonists. - Starlight Glimmer is my favorite villain because she's the only one who doesn't have the whole "take over Equestria" goal. - I don't hate Angel Bunny. - I liked Putting Your Hoof Down. - I like Gilda (after the Griffonstone episode).
  13. People are saying Diamond Tiara, but I would hate to be stuck with Silver Spoon's cutie mark.
  14. I'm a huge Princess Luna fan and I can't help but agree. I hate how fans have to demonize Celestia for what she did to Luna, even though it's very clear on who was in the wrong. However, Luna didn't try to enslave Equestria. She turned into Nightmare Moon and wanted to cause eternal night.
  15. There are many shows that treat the female characters a lot worse than how this show treats the males, and I rarely see those shows getting bashed.
  16. I hate the theory of how Silver Spoon is just pretending to be mean or is a beleaguered assistant of Diamond Tiara. If anything, if this was true, it would only make me dislike Silver Spoon more because it shows that she knows that what Diamond Tiara is doing is wrong, but she goes along with it anyway.
