  1. Merry Christmas or Happy Hearth's Warming Eve to all of you!

  2. I'm wondering if I should do a transcription of I Am Just a Pony.

  3. Whoa! I didn't expect a musical episode.

  4. Ok! I look forward to your revamping. As for training, schoolwork definitely cuts into time a lot. I really want to learn more, but it may be a bit difficult. Are there any suggestions you have for independent training? I may consult your composition guide that you posted a few weeks ago.
  5. @@C. Thunder Dash, Hmmm. What you says is very true. I did have a HUGE problem with the chords drowning out the melody. But I never imagined it as a prelude and fugue! I've played Bach's prelude and fugue in c minor before but I don't seem to see Rules of Rarity as a song with multiple voices (in the fugue, that is). Maybe it's the slow part of the song that throws me off. If you have the time and want to revamp my arrangement (If it will take up too much of your time, then you don't have to do it), that would be great! I have the pdf file and the musescore file that I could send to you somehow. Or you could download the sheet music. I'm always looking to improve the quality of my channel and you obviously have way more experience than me in music theory and composition. I have a bad tendency to over simplify things just because I get frustrated listening to chord progressions or even the melody. Maybe I should get relative pitch training. Your offer is very nice! But is it possible to tell me what exactly you did if you choose to revamp it so I can learn for future songs? Thanks a ton!
  6. Rules of Rarity is now up! Finally...

  7. It's been a while, but I finally did Rules of Rarity for piano. I just hope this isn't too repetitive or bland as I am trying to stray away from that. Anyways, enjoy! :grin2:
  8. Ugh. Schoolwork is preventing me from getting Rules of Rarity done and I still need to watch friendship games. :(

    1. Monsoon

      Monsoon

I know homework just messes up my life as well hopefully you get some time to watch everything soon

  9. Lesson Zero is one of my favorite episodes and probably a lot of people's too. The humor involved in Twilight's insanity was funny. But it also helped the show go from only Twilight writing the letters to Celestia (thus having to incorporate her into the plot every single time) to everyone writing letters allowing more freedom of writing a plot. Also, "Of all the worst possible things that could happen, this is THE. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING is funny.
  10. All right, time to sidetrack and do "Rules of Rarity".

  11. Creativity is such an important thing when it comes to your own work.

  12. @@C. Thunder Dash Honestly, i was going for a transcription. I just call it a arrangement just because it sounded more unique. xD But unfortunately, you are correct. The harmony of My Past is not Today is just very repetitive. Normally when I listen to the songs and write the notes, I go more for accuracy because I'm afraid if I deviate from the song too much, it'll sound way too different (which is a problem with many transcribers). My Past is Not Today is just one of those songs that gets so much more praise than it deserves. But I did it anyway just because I ran out of stuff to do. Which is why when I start to transcribe songs and listen to them, I suddenly realize some of them are just too repetitive for a piano. Songs like Find a Pet, Bats, or even This Day Aria have instrumentals I really love. For example, in Find a Pet and Bats, the contrast of the mood between Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy and Applejack is something I really love. This Day Aria is one of the more complicated songs of MLP and it blends together well. But it's been done so many times. Rainbow Rocks songs are generally a bit more repetitive or maybe perhaps bland (well, with the exception of stuff like Under Our Spell or Welcome to the Show (The Dazzlings Part)). Now if I was composing my own music, it would be a completely different story. I could do whatever I wanted. But I would most definitely not be repetitive with my notes. But unfortunately, studying to be a bio-medical engineer and maybe doing premed does take up time. I'm still a serious clarinet player and I play in my college's concert band. I also play the piano for fun. Anyway, I just wrote this to tell you I am completely aware that sometimes what I do can sound too "bland". This is why some synthesia videos on Youtube are a bit boring due to the lack of variety in the notes. Every musician puts out a few stinkers there and there. I still consider Twilight's Theme and my True True Friend Winter Wrap Up (Ultimate Mash Up) to be some of my best works so far (and my more popular ones!). At least I know my adjustments to the piano (less reverb) paid off. While the tone of your criticism seems to be more like an attack than an objective evaluation in the beginning, it is far better than saying "This sucks" and nothing else. Thank you. P.S. I should just start calling them transcriptions rather than arrangements until I actually make an arrangement. . P,S.S. I'm planning on doing Darude-Sandstorm next, which probably is the most repetitive song ever. xD
  13. My Past is Not Today is done!

  14. Here is a piano transcription of My Past is Not Today! It's been done before but people wanted it a lot so I decided to do it anyway. I'm still working on those audio visuals so it might take a while before audio visuals start appearing in my videos... Anyway, enjoy!
  15. redbubble.com for my phone case! amazon.com for a keychain that's yet to come.
  16. Just moved in to my dorm! I'm so nervouscited.

  17. Thank you all for your feedback! This is something that I have wondered for quite a bit and this helped a lot. I think what i'll do is learn to do audio visuals. That might take a while, so I might just put decorative pictures until I hone that skill. Thank you all once again!
  18. Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. I also did not know the xbox 360 could do that. I checked a video out of it and it looks pretty cool! Although I would probably use something less distracting. Like adding spice to the music instead of the other way around if you know what I mean.
  19. Thanks! I did marching band also when I was in high school (I graduated a few months ago). It was a fun time! Although I never got to see myself performing, it looks cool when others do it well! It was a learning curve for me, but I liked it in the end. Thank you for feedback.
  20. Hello, if you're wondering who I am, I make piano arrangements of songs from MLP and put them on Youtube. I was just wondering what people thought of visuals for music in general. While the music is still the most important part, I've been wondering if pictures and such will keep people engaged more. Normally, I just a make a VERY simple picture that I try to make as appealing as possible (like an album cover). But I've been thinking how should I make the visuals in a youtube video more fancy. Something like an audio visual would be nice but it would be something I have to learn. But I'll find the time to learn it if that's what people want! Or maybe something like Synthesia. There are so many Synthesia videos right now that making new ones right now probably wouldn't stick out too much. FIguring out how to make Synthesia videos isn't a problem. It's just that sometimes people have already done Synthesia for some songs I'm planning on doing and making videos on the same song would seem like me attempting to copy them. Anyway, let me know what you think! Feedback is greatly appreciated. Note: My focus will still be mainly on music.
  21. I named my cat Marshmallow even though he was a tiger cat. So it was more like a roasted marshmallow.
  22. Shine like Rainbows is finally up!

  23. After doing this once and then having my hard drive crash, I had to start over again. Let me tell you, it was painful. But I managed to get it done! I managed to make it so there's a bit less reverb so it will most likely sound slightly better now. Not my favorite Rainbow Rocks song, but it is by no means the worst. Anyways, enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msmDWb8ESZ8 Sheet music is in the description of the video if you wish to have it.
  24. During my childhood days. I decided I would learn to play piano. I had a good time learning it. But when I joined my school band in middle school, I played clarinet and I loved it! Once I got to high school, I got a bit more serious in the ways of the clarinet, realized that clarinets can actually sound really great, and managed to make Allstate band (an audition only thing where high school students from an entire state compete for spots. Most states have it). I'll admit that I tend to love things that I'm decent at, but music is genuinely something that I enjoy. I still play piano for fun though and it has helped me with a lot of music theory related stuff and my MLP transcriptions. Another reason is that I realized early on music was one of those things that helped me develop a work ethic. You need to practice and prepare early on and it isn't something you can wait till the last day before a performance. You can't really cheat in music. It's one of those things where talent helps but hard work and persistence is main thing.
  25. After finding the motivation to redo Shine like Rainbows, it's finally done. Now I just need to hope it doesn't get wiped out again.
