  1. keep working at it friend!! it's great to see people who post their art at the beginning and don't talk about how much they hate it (though often it's hard not to if one's prone to comparison)! keep drawing as much as you can and you can be really good soon, ahh your first drawings are already pretty great, i have to admit c:
  2. Don't mind me, just casually posting art I'm proud of...but this is a new shading style, so criticism would be nice if anyone had any! And yes, I did make her not have wings intentionally, they looked weird so let's just say they're under her suit

  4. I really love your art style, and your sketching style; you can do that thing where your sketches look pretty, which is something I've always envied--my sketches are always super messy and I still have to use the grid guidelines on the face and the general bean body shape or else the picture ends up looking wrong somehow. Also the way you draw eyes is amazing. I can't change your mind about your art, though. I feel the same way about a lot of my style but only after a lot of praise am I starting to warm up to the way I draw and get to put myself out there despite how much I might hate something.
  5. Just don't worry about getting the lines all perfect in one go; usually what I do is make a bunch of lines for one curve (for example, if I'm making the neck, I'll do it in three different parts) and then erase the bits that poke out where the lines cross, and then smooth it a little more. I don't know how to explain this any better, so let me know if you need any pictures of this. Also, changing my pen brush settings in SAI a little bit seemed to help. I usually only keep my stabilizer at 5, and make the minimum brush size a lot bigger, like 60%, so the brush doesn't taper off a lot, and change the quality to 4 (smoothest). That helped me on the lineart for the picture I just finished, and I think I'll keep it that way for a while. If you could be a little more specific about what you want to change or fix about your lineart, I might be able to help more your lineart looks great to me already but I get that sometimes people just want it to look the way they see it in their heads, not just make what other people like
  6. Tried my hand at a traditional piece for once. OTP c: (Yeah I know the way dash is holding her doesn't make a lot of sense I'm sorry magical ponies okay ;n; I mostly just wanted to draw something on the cardstock I bought)
  7. Hmm, maybe I'll take some of the more popular ones out of storage then...it's more that people didn't really favorite any of my art back then because I had next to no watchers, and also since I don't really draw as much nowadays, people only see my old stuff in the recommended or more from this artist thing on the side. I want to paint a little better picture of how my art skills are now. Maybe I'll pull them out once I update my deviantART enough.
  8. Maybe you've seen it before it's my second most popular picture I've ever made for some reason. And it was on EQD, and some random business website used it (erasing my signature) on their page, and I emailed them about it but I'm pretty sure they never took it down. I don't know why. Oh, and I think I drew it in December 2012 too, which is the month when I drew the most pictures in one month I ever have. 28 deviations, to be exact, though I probably have more in storage (I put ones I really hate in there). I was pretty inspired that month
  9. Thank you for the criticism! And I'm sorry I couldn't reply to everyone in this thread but I just wanted to comment on the last thing: did you happen to mean something like this? I drew it back in like 2012 and everyone's seemed to really like it, even though I've always thought it looked weird and the anatomy and shading didn't make sense. If I could figure out how I got the colors to look like that I might redraw it.
  10. Here's a doodle I just finished of Derpy and Dinky! C: I didn't know how to make the background look nice so I just put in a random square and put a bunch of blobs on it. Thoughts? Critiques? Would this make a nice print? Should I change anything? Tell me eeeeeverythingggg c:
  11. I just finished this piece the other day and I know the clouds are sort of at a strange angle but my hand is sore so I'll fix it later. But what do you guys think about the picture in general? I'll take the cruelest criticism you can muster, as long as it's constructive and makes sense! I tried to make the sky a little more realistic, and I was trying out a new shading style on the ponies. It was originally slightly blurred, but I changed it to be plain cel shading because apparently it looked weird the other way? It's my dream to be a vendor at a convention in the future, and I'd like to know if this would make a good print. Thoughts?
