Scarlet Mane's Diary is a story of a unicorn that doesn't know any magic and still is a blank flank. She decided to go on a quest to find her cutie mark, but one fateful morning woke up with a strange feeling that she forgot something very important. 10 stories planned, but it can change. I don't like to post incomplete works, every story here is complete. I'll add more in time. Safe for everyone, fantasy/friendship. Please read and discuss Scarlet Mane's Diary The meta-story - Scarlet's diary. Scarlet Mane's Diary, Entry 1: The Curse of Scarlet Mane Moonbeam follows her pet, Chewer, into a garden, which soon turns out to be far, far more than this. ~3500 words. Scarlet Mane's Diary, Entry 2: The Party for Blasting Boom As Scarlet Mane wonders why she ended up in Maretown, she attempts to fit in by trying to help in party preparations with devastating results. ~5500 words. Scarlet Mane's Diary, Entry 3: The Big Blast of Boom Some ponies are late for the ferry to the glorious pegasi city of Coltisle to see Blasting Boom's show. Moonbeam thinks of a solution and they all fly high. ~5000 words. Scarlet Mane's Diary, Entry 4: The Tale of Muffins and Cupcakes Princess Wysteria cranks up the annual Nom of Maretown, a food contest in which Pinkie Pie and Derpy Hooves decide to compete. Meanwhile, Moonbeam Sparkle needs just one final component to test the newest prototype of her yet another clockwork machine--Twilight's magic. Not everything goes according to plan. NoM may turn into a disaster! Would anypony even notice?... Over 9000 words.

How do you expect any criticism if you cherry pick what you (don't) want to hear and attack the critic? I never said anyone in particular is cheating, I just presented the whole spectrum of possibilities. Learn to read with understanding, please! Oh really? I said, in short, that writers should research characters they put into their stories. This is most constructive. If you can't accept criticism, ignore it instead of harassing the critic! As I said, I won't use a good idea on 500 word micro-story. Expecting the critic has to have experience in creating whatever he or she is criticizing is a serious fallacy. I do at least try to research, then stay true to any characters I use. I never said it's easy and that any beginner can do it perfectly--just that it produces better stories and it's therefore worth doing. Don't put words in my mouth! I was reluctant to do so because I hoped anyone who serious enough about writing anything will think about this and judge whether it could apply or not. It's as simple as that. Now I surely won't, because, again, people serious enough will know already and people who are immature and can't accept criticism wouldn't listen anyway.

I don't like how many of you write stories with original characters that act completely different than their personality would suggest. Honestly, it looks like you write an OC story, or worse yet, non-pony story, and just replace the names The best case scenario is bad research of the character, while the worst case scenario is simply cheating in the contest. And Juggler, no, the above is not about you, I just had to say that because you posted last and you might think that.

Why do some bronies have a persecution complex?
Sne replied to Zenoctilles's topic in Sugarcube Corner
It's not a persecution complex if the persecution is there and can be directly observed. And it is in many places, all around the globe--there are better and worse places, but it's pretty much chaotic. I think the more religious the country is, the worse. Netherlands and Germany seem the nicest so far. And of course there are closet furries and closet Trekkies. What the heck gives you an idea that there aren't any Star Trek fans who try to avoid being called a nerd and a social outcast (even if one obviously isn't; rationality and reason aren't exactly common characteristics of a hater)? I noticed Trekkies are not taken seriously (i.e. unequally treated when it comes to job etc.), same with Star Wars fans. Bronies are ridiculed and not taken seriously as well, they're often assumed to be gay. Now, homosexuals are often simply beaten up despite officially being treated seriously. Furries are all automatically considered homosexual and zoophiliac... the effect is they're not taken seriously and occasionally get beaten up for no reason. Yes, this still does happen. If you say it doesn't, it just didn't happen to you... yet. Or you're just lucky. The mere fact you're not sure if it's true or false implies that it's plausible. If that kind of thing is plausible in a society, then the society sucks hard. -
Well... I'm shy, introverted, socially anxious. I started to have a different outlook at life because of MLP. Every episode about friendship educating me on what I never really knew. I stopped hiding so much, at least on the Internet. I feel I can relate at least a bit. I'd better post this now because I already backspaced most of it it's not easy to talk about such things.

Ruler of an African country. Maybe I could change something for the better there, for once. Worth a try. Would you rather always drink or eat something with sugar (sucrose) or with high-fructose corn syrup?

I only hate irrational hate. Its results sadden me.

As a paranoid kid in the past, I can tell you this opinion is as naive as most kids' opinion that they can hide things successfully. My parents, especially my dad, looked around in a typical, privacy-abusing and disturbing way of a parent, but never, ever found anything I really wanted to hide. I actually regret that somewhat. Anyway, the best place to hide things is on yourself, but you must be careful not to forget about them. For example, leaving them in the pocket in pants you don't wear at the time is a sure way to be discovered. That's it: if you really want to hide something, guard it personally 24/7.

request shop I'm looking to draw some stuff :) Taking requests
Sne replied to ~Lawful Jordo~'s topic in Requestria
I would be grateful if you could draw any of these: An unidentified pony X (black silhouette? pegasus with a messy mane) follows Melody (in a hat) who follows Moonbeam Sparkle who follows Scarlet Mane. I see it like that: Scarlet's head up front, Moonbeam sneaking behind her on the left of the picture, Melody peeking from behind a tree on the right, not far in the back. Pony X again on the left, maybe peeking from behind a rock. When Scarlet Mane was just a filly she met traveling (adult) Twilight Sparkle, who told her some stories. Lyra and Lemon Hearts were observing them in secret. I imagine it as Scarlet sitting in front of Twilight in the middle and listening closely to the stories Twi tells and Lyra's and Lemon Hearts' heads in men-in-black-style shades peek from both sides of the picture. Also I've been trying hard but failing to make a picture of traveling Scarlet Mane with a map. She made a contraption consisting of a telescopic rod attached to her horn (she can't do magic) which holds a map, so she doesn't have to do what Pinkie does. I've tried to start from Zecora and added a map, then I tried to change the pony into actual Scarlet Mane, but I've never managed to do a single picture with all this (and without the rings on her leg, which are of Zecora). I really hope it's doable -
Could I get some critique on my OC please?
Sne replied to roomforapony's topic in Original Character Help
On the revised drawing there's a line just on the right from the nose, I can't see its purpose (doesn't look like hair to me). Personally, I think the snout looked perfectly on the original, same as hind hooves (the rest of the body is better in the revised version). The drawing is really awesome. -
gaming Sony Planning In Game Ads to Interrupt Gameplay
Sne replied to Deidre Asada's topic in Media Discussion
Nope. This is just what bronies don't do. I have some turnips to talk to, do you want one? As opposed to what? Doc? PDF is the standard format for that kind of documents. By the way, you don't see an important option: Sony might have predicted it to be future of in-game ads. Making a patent will force other developers to pay Sony for doing advertising like that. It doesn't mean Sony itself will do ads the same way. Basically, they'd just make more money while making others' games a bit more pricey.- 24 replies

Ridiculous how? Major Ubuntu Linux releases are every half a year. Major Mac OS X releases are every 2 years. Just how in hay a regular interval of 3 years between releases is ridiculous on any level and too short at the same time?

Windows 7 is 3 years old already. Vista was 3 yo when Win 7 was released. The core will work in the exactly same way on desktops. Metro will have an Aero app. Windows Store is not obligatory to use. There are many minor changes for good; Explorer will be greatly enhanced, full shutdown feature is finally removed, it will boot faster because of it (although not very much faster than a properly configured Win 7), it will also work slightly faster with some hardware. There's no good reason not to upgrade except money for a license time to set up and if Win 8 comes preinstalled there's no good reason to choose Win 7 over it. If one gets a license for free for some reason (e.g. MSDNAA) and has a free sunday, upgrading to Win 8 seems like a good idea, depending on the final release. That's why I voted 'yes', altough I should vote 'maybe', however there's no such option However most people (apparently 88%) don't get the upgrade for free nor they are proficient in and/or eager to spend a weekend in front of the computer just so they have changes that they don't really care about.

Granted, you can't grant any more wishes, not only magical, whenever somepony asks you for something you can't do it. I wish the next wish to be corrupted.

The figures are correct, 1635 m/s final velocity got from the sonic rainboom cone angle, 12 seconds and 2 seconds the acceleration times (measured myself), but what I'm trying to say, and I kind of feel weird about being the only pony to do so, there is no 20% anywhere in this. Her speed didn't increase. Just acceleration - and by 500%, not 20%. Really, I feel like Pinkie Pie talking about parasprites :S and since I don't really have any musical instruments nor skills I give up before my mane deflates and I start talking with turnips
