  1. Just familiarize yourselves with the rules and play around a bit with the characters they no doubt provide. Generally the sets have a starter adventure or two that are more or less tailored to the characters in the box. Since it's going to be everyone's first time by the sound of it, just take it slow and walk through the gameplay process they detail in the starter handbook. It doesn't hurt to get a game or two under your belt before you consider making an adventure of your own. Also, if you're playing with other people make sure you have enough pencils and dice. You can order a 'pound of dice' off Amazon for around $22 if you want a wide variety or you can get something like 6 full sets for $16. Its a great way to spend a weekend afternoon, so I hope it works out well for you. :grin2:
  2. I've added several fics to the list since this last post, including the entire audiobook of For Candy, Sonata Bimbo by BuckingNonsense Princess Celestia's Newest Arch Enemy by NaturalBornDerpy As usual, there are downloads for everything, so load up your music player of choice for pony fanfiction on the go~
  3. My iMac's fans are rather constant white noise while I'm in my home office, I occasionally utilize RainyMood and other similar sites, and I use an app called PZIZZ on my phone when sleeping. No white noise feels strange to me, and if it's too quiet I can't sleep easily.
  4. They're just big pillows. They sell large body pillows at places like Wal-Mart and a pillowcase with your waifu on it doesn't magically transform em. They absorb and retain body heat quite nicely and are good to curl up with when ones partner isn't available. If you already own Pony merch you're already kinda weird to most people anyway. Don't worry about what other people think OP.
  5. Go to HR, report what he said. That kinda talk is wildly inappropriate for work especially between coworkers who don't know each other. Doesn't matter if you're a virgin or not.
  6. I picked up a "TY Sparkle" Rarity mini-plush at Five Below today for $5. All they had left of the mane six were a handful of Rarity plush and a whole pile of Rainbow Dash. No other ponies. Quality is pretty good. Mane is hair that has tinsel in it. Hooves aren't weighted but her legs are stuffed enough she'll stand on her own. Cutie mark only on one side. Not bad for $5 and a heck of a lot better than the egg noodle maned Funrise plush.
  7. Both. It really depends on the toy. 2012 SDCC Derpy is out of her box though I still have it but 2013's Vinyl Scratch isn't. All my pocket ponies are arrayed, but I have some of the early released FiM brushables in their packaging with the mini-DVDs. Full set of the Target Power Ponies set in their packages, but I have an out-of-box Rarity-as-Radiance on my shelf. Funkos are out of box. Signed toys stay in their box. I also don't have any more room on my Pony shelf.
  8. I got a hand dyed tie dye hoodie, a $25 Half Price Books gift card, $25 iTunes card, 2016 Pony calendar, a bunch of candy, and a $50 QT gift card from the mother in law. Also a copy of Shower With Your Dad Simulator as a gag from a friend. Family stuff all went nicely this year though, so that was more appreciated, heh.
  9. I think that Disney will continue to pretend that they don't exist. They'll likely be more focused on making Episodes 7-9 into their own thing and extend the Star Wars universe going forward instead of looking back to the earlier mistakes of George Lucas.
  10. It doesn't bother me. It's not an identity thing, it's just a thing I like along with a lot of other things. If people ask, it's simply a cute show I enjoy enough to have been involved in the fandom since its inception.
  11. A few thoughts. +4 Disney Princesses. Potentially better product. Since Hasbro already controls top end production direction of a lot of Disney toy lines (including Star Wars afaik), it might not change much. Most pony conventions would cease to exist in their current form due to Disney not being friendly to independent fan conventions focused on their content. It would be Disney getting a few more handholds on the supply chain, with them creating the content, distributing it, and making the toys in the process. Probably not a good net result for the fandom or show.
  12. I saw it on Friday and rather enjoyed it. I think it's a worthy successor to the original trilogy, giving a new cast a chance to do stuff in the SW universe. It is, as mentioned elsewhere, a bit of a re-do of Episode IV, but it gives a new cast of characters a chance to do stuff in that universe without too much slavish adherence to the past. It's "Star Wars: The Next Generation" and I'm perfectly ok with that. Heck of a lot better than any of the prequels, that's for sure.
  13. I don't think they had gotten tired of the CMC as characters, but I do think they had tread most of the ground possible with them remaining blank flanks. The fact of the matter is that all 3 of their VAs are now in high school or college and it was time to close out the 'CMC as the little kids' arc in the show. I would be pleasantly surprised if they aged up the characters a bit, though that's a bit of a long shot. I will be interested to see what the use the characters for going forward.
  14. I have been lucky enough to have seen and played earlier iterations of this at a couple conventions. This new version looks even shinier. Can't wait until I can play around with this without a time limit in the comfort of my own home.
  15. Last thing I've picked up would be the Target exclusive set of Power Ponies (including Spike for once) in brushable size + Mane-iac.
  16. One of my 'favorite' edits in an anime was the usage of "BLAST!" as an expletive replacement in Gundam Wing. It always seemed so forced in the dub.
  17. As someone who grew up watching the original trilogy on VHS and suffered through midnight showings of all three prequels, I have taken a 'wait and see' approach to this one. I will watch it of course, there's no question there, but I'm going to wait til I can see a super early matinee on a weekday after the crowds have died down. Hopefully I can avoid spoilers until such a time, though its hardly the end of the world if I don't.
  18. Being mindful that I have an older machine that hasn't been able to run current gen games for at least a year, my personal GOTY's are pretty much Undertale and Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. Undertale being the first game in a good while I actually sat down and played 7 hours straight, and Isaac because it just added a lot more Isaac to Isaac. Rebel Galaxy is an honorable mention, though it does get a bit repetitive. If you enjoyed the naval combat in Assassins Creed: Black Flag it might be up your alley.
  19. 2004. Had a severe falling out with my parents and ended up in Washington state north of Seattle. Spent 6 months up there, saved up cash from jobs, got a car, and then did a rather epic road trip back to Texas. Even took a pit stop in Vegas and saw Blue Man Group. That year forced me to reevaluate a lot of my personal beliefs and stances, and the net result was that I came out a lot stronger for it.
  20. As someone who has had a lot of experiences with forums of various stripes over the years, I tend to lurk far more than participate. For whatever reason even posting a new topic makes me all anxious. Trying to get better at it though.
  21. While I am not 100% sure this is the right subforum, today I share with y'all my collection of fanfics I've done narration for. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLP9vKRD6fwbB9SivAVVZ7hXTDsW4NRYm3 I generally release a new recording on Sunday and Wednesday, unless it's a multi-chapter story then it's M/W/F. I have quite a few stories queued up in the near term, but I'm always open to suggestions. I even include downloads for each chapter, so you can take them on the go. :grin2:
  22. Steam: Here XBLA: Savrin Drake 3DS: 3067-5813-0143 Battletag: SavrinDrake#1630 Vidya gaems.
  23. Upon first hearing Winter Wrap Up it was stuck in my head for two weeks. Lately though it's been Death By Glamour, the RichaadEB mix, or Earthbound (With Lyrics) by Brentalfloss.
  24. Equestria seems to have the level of technology to advance the story required at any given time. Trains pulled by massive stallions in s1 and then we get the Friendship Express in s2. Helicopters, hydroelectric plants, things like the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000.. Given what we've seen in the show we can assume at least movies and some sort of video games are canon. TV is likely the case as well, given that there is a unicorn 'projector' spell that Twilight has used a couple times, most recently in the episode featuring Coloratura.
  25. I had been shaving regularly most of my life, trying out different facial hair bits.. decided I'd try to go for a full beard about 4 months ago. I don't think it looks too bad. My dad has always had his beard so I have a good idea of what I'll be able to rock if I let it keep growing. Just keep the neck clean, whatever you do.
