  1. @@Acnologia, Jake was a bit surprised by Kyubi's question. It's not he hadn't been thinking about it since he first received Electrike from the good professor. Jake had gained a lot of experience through out his career as a trainer. He looked at Kyubi and said actually in a sincere fashion "It really doesn't make much of a difference. I see all Pokemon as potential partners and friends. Even the simple Magikarp." He quickly changed his expression 180 degrees to his trademark smile "But I can't truly say I don't favor certain types over others. I'm looking to balance my team and have a type to cover as many weaknesses as I can, but at the same time there are certain types I can't live without. I have a certain affinity for rock, electric, and steel Pokemon, but my favorite is the fairy type. Let me tell you a story." Jake's affinity to fairy was attributed to his past. While traveling in Kalos he came upon a little Flabébé lost and crying in a forest. He had taken the little one to a nearby poke-center. After being healed the Flabébé stuck to him like glue throughout his travels in the region. In it's final evolution, Florges, he fought battle after battle and over came hardship after hardship. But as his adventures in Kalos came to an end he had come to know how much his friend loved her home region and knew he had to let her go. With a heavy heart he released her, but never forgot her. As he tells this story to Kyubi his face returns to the serious look he had at the beginning of the conversation. He now sat in reflection. .
  2. Jake moves quickly past the entrance of route 2 looking for the other two. "Huff, Huff, huff... Those kids sure are fast. I'm getting two old for this," Jake said, partially out of breath. As Jake slowed to a stop to catch his breath a Fletchling poped down from a nearby tree. "Oh hey little guy, how are you doing?" Jake asks the little pokemon as he approaches and leans down towards it. The Fletchling attacks his face. "Owwwww. I just wanted to know how he was doing..." The Fletchling attempts to attack Jake again but he swiftly dodges it this time. "I guess we have no choice. Let's go Bright Lightning!" BL stands poised for the fight. "Let's start off with a tactical advantage, Bright Lightning use thunder wave!" A wave of energy emanates from BL. The Fletchling dodges the wave smoothly, as if requiring no effort at all. "Blast it," exclaimed Jake. The Fletchling counter attacks using tackle. Bl is hit, but suffers minimal damage. "You alright buddy," Jake asks his companion. BL nods. "Then we mustn't take this sitting down! Use tackle!" BL tackle attacks the Fletchling and lands a good blow upon her. The Fletchling falls to it's feet but soon regains composure. "Nice hit BL, Jake says with a smile. The Fletchling isn't done yet, it put all of its energy into another tackle attack. "Not this time. Bright Lightning, dodge and use thunder wave one more time!" Jake states with a clear and focused mind, yet with a burning fire. Electrike is able to dodge the attack. The Fletchling is unable to stop on a dime after charging at full speed. Electrike lands the thunder wave. The now paralyzed Fletchling tumbles along ground with the left over speed of its attack. The Fletchling is found knocked out cold after coming to a stop. "Good job buddy," Jake exclaimed with cheer. Well we better keep going, we got a lot more ground to cover." Bright Lightning has defeated a Pokemon of equal or more level, Level up from 5 to 7. BL learned Howl.
  3. @@Acnologia, "Hmmm..., it doesn't seem likely that wandering around in a random direction will get us anywhere," Jake says while in a somewhat thoughtful trance. He had been thinking about it for a while but he could no longer avoid the issue: He knew nothing about this region. He may have over estimated his experience. Having done this so many times before he assumed this would be a walk in the park, but somehow, this time was different. There was something about the layout of this region that just ins't typical of the many others Jake had seen. As Jake is contemplating his situation his partner, Bright Lightning, tugs on his pant leg to remind him he's in the middle of a conversation. "Huh? Oh.... um... sure!" Jake exclaimed, trying to cover for the fact he completely forgot he was talking to Kyubi for a minute or so. "The more the merrier, right?"
  4. @@Acnologia,@@Drago Ryder, "I actually thought it was much later than it is," Jake said with a look of embarrassment. His Electrike, Bright Lightning, just shook his head with disappointment. "Hey, you thought it was just as late as I did," Jake exclaimed. Now Bright Lightning was the one with a look of embarrassment. "It's alright buddy, it's not like this place would have gone anywhere whether we were early or late." "I'm still trying to find my bearings, and where we should be going. And by that I mean I'm basically lost," Jake said to Blitz and Kyubi, surprisingly with less embarrassment than earlier.
  5. @@Drago Ryder, @@Acnologia, "Hey, you guy's made it!" Jake said with a smile, waving to Blitz and Kyubi as he got off the boat. "How did the trip fair ya," Jake asked the younger trainers. Jake had never really been in this situation before. He was always around the same age as the other young trainers he met. He only just entered his 30's a few months ago. Sure, being in his 20's he was already older than most of them, but not by much. Funny, he didn't feel like an old man.
  6. "About time to head out," Jake thought as he paid for his coffee. Leaving the coffee shop he and Bright Lightning made their way through town until they arrived at the dock. "Looks like our adventure is just a boat ride away." Jake said to Bright Lightning, who looked at Jake with disdain. "Ok, so maybe we were a bit late to the party, it's already sundown, but we made it... eventually." They made their way onto the boat. Jake didn't look back as the boat left the dock, he only looked forward.
  7. "To the docks then" Jake asked himself. "That can wait. I just got here after all." Jake looked down towards Bright Lightning with a smile. "How about you and me take a walk around this city, and "paint the town red" as the kids say" Jake asked his companion. Bright Lightning seemed to look a bit reserved on the subject. "What is it boy? Worried about missing the boat? No worries, we'll make it with time to spare," Jake enthusiastically reassured his companion with his trademark smile. Bight Lightning gave an enthusiastic reply and the two were ready to go. The two began walking through the city when a smile ran away from Jake's face. "I just remembered, I don't actually know where we're going." Jake looked around a minute and noticed an information booth with a bunch of maps. Jake rushed up to the stand. "Hey *pant*, can I get one of those maps *pant*," Jake managed to ask the girl, completely out of breath. The girl, with a seemingly endless smile and enthusiasm, replied to Jake "Sure, here you go!" Jake thanked her and began looking over the map. "Oh, there's apparently a coffee house with world famous coffee right around here," he said as he began walking down the streets. Jake and Bright Lightning set off towards the coffee house.
  8. Jake walked up to the tray and snatched a pokedex from it. "Haha, I certainly could use a new pokedex," he said enthusiastically. Jake remembered when he broke his last pokedex. "Thinking back... perhaps it wasn't the best idea to skydive with an easily frightened Plusle. Not only did she discharge and fry my pokedex, but she had nightmares for weeks after that. Poor girl," Jake thought as he began looking over his new pokedex. He looked up to notice that Blitz had actually levitated his pokedex to himself. "A psychic huh? It's been a while since I last met one," he whispered to himself. He caught up to Blitz and answered his question in a single phrase "Oreburgh City, Sinnoh." "Well thanks for the pokedex professor. I'd love to stay and chat about research, but I've got run, Maybe next time, eh?" Jake shouted as he made for the door. Jake really did love talking about research, he even considered one day settling down and becoming a Pokemon professor himself, but Jake was impatient and ready for an adventure. "It was nice to meet all of you. Catch you guys outside." Jake shouted as he opened the door. Jake wasn't really one for formal introductions. As far as he was concerned you were his friend upon first sight, at least until you betrayed him or something along that lines. "You ready to set out boy," he asked his Electrike. Bright Lightning looked at him with excitement and determination. The two left through the door. Jake elegantly walking out and Bright Lightning closely following him behind.
  9. Jake was no stranger to the selection process, he had gone through it before. Jake began to reminisce about choosing a Pokemon from Professor Rowan in Sinnoh when he was just starting out. A smirk appeared upon his face. "Alright then, I'll do this how I've always done it," said Jake. Jake walked up to the Noibat, kneeled, and held out his hand. The Noibat looked at his hand for a moment and began to screech at him. "Well, he woke up on the wrong side of the bed," Jake mumbled as he retracted his hand and stood back up. Jake then walked over to the Zorua and again kneeled and held out a hand. The Zorua didn't move at all. Jake stayed in this position for a fair amount of time. He didn't even seem like the Zorua was looking Jake over, he just didn't move. "You neither eh? Ok," Jake said. Jake made his way over to the last Pokemon, the Electrike. "Come on fella, I won't bite," Jake said to the Electrike, once again holding out his hand and kneeling. The Electrike immediately walked straight over to Jake's hand. Jake began to pet the Electrike and he began to radiate in electrical energy. "We have a winner. I hereby knight you as "Bright Lightning." Name: Bright Lightning Pokémon: Electrike Type: Electric Gender: Male Nature: Modest Ability: lightning rod Level: 5 Moves: -tackle -thunder wave - - Forgotten Moves: None Additional Information: None
  10. “Zzzzzzzzzzz. Zzzzzzzz” snored Jake, sitting on a bench inside the airport with a newspaper draped over his face. “Zzzzz…, uhhh. What time is it,” Jake asked himself as he looked at his watch. “Huh. Well, I guess now is as good as any time.” Jake rose to his feet and began to slowly walk towards the exit, hands in his pocket. It had taken a while, Jake thought to himself, but he finally made it to Zelkovia’s lab. “This is the place eh,” Jake muttered to himself as he glanced over the building. Jake walked inside and was greeted by the receptionist. She handed him some paper work to fill out. “Paperwork? If I wanted to stand around and do paperwork all day I’d go back to school,” he thought to himself as he filled in his information. Type Choices: Fairy, Electric, Steel, Dark, Fighting, Dragon, Psychic
  11. I really like just how much thought you put into this. I'd definitely like to join this. Here's my character sheet: Name: Jake Largo Trainer Class: Veteran (Gen 6 style) Gender: Male Age: 30 Home town: Oreburgh City Biography: Jake was born in Sinnoh and raised in Oreburgh city, where his dad worked inside the mine. With his parents both working to put him through school, he tended to spend a lot of time with friends from school to avoid becoming lonely. His best friend was a kid named Eric. They both had the same goal, to beat the Pokémon champion of Sinnoh. Jake and Eric would often play inside the caves, against their parent’s wishes of course. Inside the mine they met a Geodude and the three instantly became friends. A few years passed from that point before the two grew old enough to set out on their own to achieve their goal. There was only one Quarry (the name they gave the Geodude), however, and both wanted him to come with them. Long story short, their friendship ended with a battle to determine who would journey with Geodude. Jake lost. He never saw his ex-friend Eric again. Jake to this day regrets the harsh words he exchanged with his childhood friend that day. Jake journeyed through Sinnoh, capturing Pokémon and beating trainers. After a few years, many wins and losses later, and having gained plenty of stories he could tell back home, he finally defeated the champion. After achieving his childhood dream he wondered what he should do. He decided he would travel from region to region, fighting gym after gym. After a while he became good, and he also stopped caring about winning and getting glory. Now he just travels around looking for fun. He’s made his way to the Algard region looking for his next adventure. Personality: He’s actually become kind of complacent in his “later years” as he calls it (he’s only 30). He no longer travels with a drive “to be the very best.” He’s just looking for some fun, and as such, he comes off as a bit lazy and lacking focus. Don’t let this attitude fool you, his years of experience show. He’s actually quite good at battling, even though he’ll suffer a loss from time to time, just as anyone does. He’s also fairly intelligent. His years of schooling seem to have paid off. As a kid his favorite subject was history. He’s always interested in learning the local history. This has led to many adventures in the past through ruins and such. His biggest flaw is his overconfidence. You’d expect someone with years of experience to learn that even they can be beat…Jake seems to have never gotten the memo. He’s not really stuck up and does realize others have skills, but he often overestimates his own skills. Ambitions: At this point, he just wants to have fun. If that includes beating Gym leaders and Pokémon Champions, so be it. Skills and Advantages: He has gained a lot of experience over his years of traveling across the regions of the world. He knows where Pokémon like to hang, and how they behave. He also understands basic psychology of his opponents. He’s seen everything from a last stand full out attack from a cornered trainer to a calm and calculated comeback from another trainer in the same position. PS. Do I need an image reference? His adult personality was inspired by laid back personalities like that of Spike Spiegel. I was thinking of a similar look, but more along the lines of a black pony tail. I like the idea of him wearing a suit, but would prefer a red sleeveless suit jacket combo similar to that of that of Apollo Justice (attached).
  12. Thank you for the greetings Battenburg and Rainbow Mika. It's also nice to meet someone who got into the show around the same time.
  13. My favorite has got to be Applejack x Rara. "The Mane Attraction" is one of my favorite episodes of season 5 and these two just clicked for me.
