  1. The biggest thing that kept me coming back to the show all these years is how real these characters are, both as characters and in their interactions with other characters and their environment. Very candid reactions to certain events or behaviors from pretty much every character that gets more than a few seconds screen time, very real-world type issues that arise in nearly every episode (often with very real-world solutions), and a decent amount of humor for all ages, not just the younger target audience. The relative novelty of a cartoon made with Flash was a neat added bonus.
  2. To politely ask writers to consider potential episode plots would be one thing, but (as I've seen across many different social media over the years) to outright demand that the writers go with often very specific ideas is a bit much so yeah, I'd say that bronies do ask for too much. Not always, and not every brony is guilty of this, but overall I tend to think that yes we do tend to ask a bit much.
  3. My dreams last night basically replayed my recent drive through St Louis...it was strange.
  4. 25 but feel 50 some days. ;.;
  5. Hmm...toss up between Surge and Coca Cola with Lime (at those seemingly infinite flavor options machines at restaurants, I fill my glass half full of Coke Lime, then the other half regular Coke. Perfect hint of lime~)
  6. I've got a bunch of storm chasing buddies down in Galveston and Corpus right now, and some of the videos/streams I've been seeing on my facebook feed are insane. As a storm chaser myself, I love seeing powerful storms, the beautiful cloud structures, and the amazing lightning shows that often accompany the worst of them (and tornadoes if I'm lucky). But I never wish to see a powerful storm go through a town or a city, and to chase a hurricane willingly takes the kind of nerves that I simply don't have. I hope everyone makes it through this storm, because it's currently looking to be one for the record books.
  7. No? That's a shame. Who would you want to go see?
  8. Have you been to any concerts (and if so, what was your favorite and why)?
  9. If we're including EQG in this, then hands down "Welcome to the Show".
  10. I took this photo during Trot Con 2013. I've since been told it could pass as a default desktop background...
  11. Relatively near sighted and recently developed an astigmatism. Hated glasses at first (4th grade when I first got them) but now they're just another part of my day. Still wish I didn't need them though.
  12. Our decision to run in February is actually an attempt to avoid competition with other MLP cons running around the same time we normally do. Besides, having been a resident of Colorado for over 20 years and especially noting the general trends for weather over the last few winters, February isn't really a month for snow, just colder temperatures (In fact, statistically March is the snowiest month for Colorado). This table shows average snowfall across Colorado for the month of February from 1981 to 2010. For the Front Range/Eastern Colorado amounts, that usually represents one, maybe two snow storms for the entire month, so for us we felt February would be our best shot without having to compete with other, larger cons (like BABS and Everfree) or big holidays in November and December. Point being, the chances of snow being much more than an annoyance for the Denver area in February. We're also striving to make the event free to attend for everyone, so stating that you won't be 'taking your business' to us is...kind of a moot point.
  13. No More Sorrow by Linkin Park. X
  14. There's a number of different ways this is done, primarily by certain subcultures that essentially demonize higher education and promote stupidity as the height of social conduct through various media such as music and movies. (ie. the protagonist is a bumbling idiot who barely scrapes by anything and only manages to achieve their dream(s) through sheer luck or by 'having faith'.)
  15. As of today, solar. Favorite cuisine not native to your country?
  16. Attractiveness: 4/10 Intelligence: 8/10 Kindness: 8/10 I'm fat, out of shape, and have bad skin, but I'm often told I'm really intelligent and intuitive and I like to think that I'm generally a pretty nice guy.
  17. My biggest pet peeve is when someone tells me something I already know, especially if they know I already know it. I don't know why but I get extremely irritated when that happens. With regard to society in general, I think the tendency to glorify willful ignorance is what grinds my gears the most.
  18. Probably getting a free VIP meet and greet pass at a Linkin Park concert a few years ago. Favorite place to vacation?
  19. I'd have to say music. Cartoons are an excellent outlet for displaying all kinds of emotions and character development, but music just has this way of making portrayals of emotion, storytelling, and vivid imagery personal in a way that cartoons never can, at least for me.
  20. Been a good many years since I've read any fanfic. Suffice to say I did recently start reading through Fallout Equestria and so far I've really enjoyed it. Excellent lore and world building, though (unless someone has already done so and I haven't found it yet) it does seem to be in pretty good need of a grammatical revision. I do remember reading through Background Pony when it first began and loved that one as well.
  21. I-25 near my city has been backed up nearly all day every day for the last several days as people from Colorado and surrounding southern areas head to Wyoming. I'm not going to bother getting involved with that zoo of traffic and where I'm at I'm still in the 95% zone. Won't see totality but it'll still be pretty darn close. Though it's kinda hilarious to think that the state of Wyoming will probably double or triple in population for this event.
  22. As cliche as it sounds, MLP really did teach me the magic of friendship. Sure I had friends before discovering the show but most of them were really more like close acquaintances and I had very few actual 'friends' up through to college when I first started watching the show. Then I discovered the local community and suddenly I found myself with more friends than I knew what to do with, and it was awesome! I also used to be a pretty judgmental and arrogant hellion of an adolescent until high school when I started to mellow out, but watching MLP from early on really showed me that it's just not worth it 99.9% of the time to waste time and energy on worrying about things that don't really matter and instead to just chill out and actually be nicer and more friendly and generous to people (until they give me a reason not to be, at least).
  23. Regularly driving 200+ mile round trips from northern Colorado to Colorado Springs in the middle of the state for a meetup and episode screening and not getting back until 4 or 5 AM when I have class/work at 8 AM.
  24. There haven't been too many characters that I've needed to warm up to over time. I think the closest thing to that for me would be Fluttershy. I didn't much care for her character at first (aside from just being adorable) as her character flaws always seemed to be a bit exaggerated in Fluttershy-centric episodes, but over the last few seasons I think she's developed quite nicely and roundly and is currently my second favorite of the mane 6.
