    Looking at the earth pony, Ace nodded his head in approval. "Well, that should be useful. And, Breech? Don't worry, I'll give a little shout before I let loose like that." He gave a grin that was filled with confidence. "We could survive this." He turned to the purple maned unicorn. "Starshift, you alright? You've been pretty quiet."

    Ace looked for a long moment at the unique newcomer, pondering his news. "Certainly not the strangest thing that's happened today." He thought while giving his head a slight shake, as if to make sure he's not dreaming. He then turned to the dark colored assassin. "Chaos Maker? I have no idea what that is, but judging from what that thing said, it's going to help them reawaken Discord. Do you think that by 'Elements' that mysterious voice means the Elements of Harmony?"

    "Smooth. Real smooth. Not only have you blinded your new companions, but you're also dinner for some creepy bat thing." Ace thinks to himself as he scrambles to stand up. In an act of desperation, he readies his knife, praying that it will do some good.

    Ace cast a flash spell while making an attempt to dodge the attack.

    Ace fired his stun spell at the demon, and then prepared to dodge a potential ricochet, or reflection.

    Just so that everyone knows, I'm going to be AFK for a few days, my family is taking a trip to see some family, and I won't be back until late Monday night.

    Somewhat disturbed by the arrival of the demon, Ace temporarily froze in fear. He recovered, and started to charge his stun beam, aiming it at the creature.

    "Yeah. Um. I know some stun spells, and I have a knife in my pack. That's pretty much it...." He chuckled, obviously a bit unnerved by this turn of events."Did he say something about inter-dimensional creatures? Are these ponies crazy?" he wondered.

    "Ace. Ace High. I take it we aren't going to be fighting bandits, or anything like that, correct? Well, I can do some short-range teleportation, and I'm decent at hoof-to-hoof fighting. I never really had much use for magic."

    "Oh, sorry." Ace enters the cave, grateful to be out of the rain. He scans the cave, quickly picking out the bones, causing his eyes to widen in fear. He swallows hard, and puts on his best brave face. "Yes, I can see that. Well, is there anything I can do to help?" he says in a whisper.

    "Why didn't I take the stupid train?" Ace High muttered bitterly to himself. He was tired, wet, cold, and above all, lost. "There's no way I'm going to get to the pub in this weather. I've got to get out of this storm." During a quick scan of the area, his eye caught sight of a mouth to a cave. He approached it, cautious to not alert any inhabitants. He heard a voice, in the middle of a speech describing some sort of spell. Eager to get out of this rain, he decided to investigate. "Hello? Anyone in there?"

    But that's what it is. (I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear about this before) It's using raster graphics to emulate the style and technique of vector art.

    Okay, so maybe "alternative" was the wrong word to use (for you at least). What would you call it, if that's the case?
