at this point, a lot has happened in my personal life. i broke up a long term relationship, experienced the death of a family member, finished a very stressful part of college (succesfully), moved to a new place and made many changes in my lifestyle. i swapped my sim card to a feature phone that just texts and calls because everything distracted me. i’m finally finding bits and pieces of my identity and self-perception that were so muddied all these years from contstantly being fed opinions online. i’m getting more creative every day, yet i wonder if i’m always making the right decisions and prioritizing what’s most valuable to me. i deleted the accounts i had on all my social media so i could focus on making my own website. but am i chasing the nostalgia of a time that will never return, or truly sticking to my principles and doing this for my personal creativity? why do i keep having this feeling of having to make art for a purpose, rather than to just create? am i the only one who feels that way about their work? 🦋 looking back at art from 2022-2024, despite being a rather blurry time in my memory since i was so busy with college and dealing with chronic illness, i can finally feel a sense of direction and uniqueness in the art style i have. perhaps something others have always noticed, yet i haven’t. it’s becoming more obvious who inspires me at the moment. something about that feels extremely accomplishing. i feel like the new school year will become a bit of a mental reset for me. i have this feeling i will meet new people, learn new skills and find unique ways to create art through fashion, collages, mixed media, photography. i can’t help but feel worried though. if everything i do will work out in the end and i can find true happiness. i’ve been dealing with a dissociation disorder for a while now, putting this mental wall between my senses and the way i process information and thus my memories and emotions. this is why i can sometimes come over as a little bit stoic. i’ve become heavily reliant on my words to communicate my feelings to others as it’s difficult for me to express them in other ways. if this wall will ever go down, i’m not sure. but i do hope that i can overcome my worries and climb it myself.

I do, I love my friends! Although they’re difficult to manage when you’re really passionate about college and your hobbies and having to deal with chronic illness on top of that. I really have to plan my activities properly to get enough rest or else it’s migraine galore. I often hang out with a buddy who’s also chronically ill, so we can find that low energy, comfy peace together with just watching movies and playing games. I wish I was more able to visit meetups and conventions in the Dutch MLP and furry community, but it’s just painful to walk and stand for more than a few hours.
