Honest Apple off the top of my head. It completely set Applejack's character back and made zero sense to be shown THIS late in the game. Early season one? Forgivable. After we've already gone through Look Before You Sleep, Simple Ways - Applejack proves that she can be just as much of a fashionista as Rarity to show Rarity that it's not about what you like or don't it's just being true to who you are, Rarity Takes Manehattan—where Applejack attends to support her in the contest and assists in making dresses in the end—Canterlot Boutique (Where AJ openly compliments Rarity on the amount of work she puts into her shop and designs), and Applejack's Day "Off" Where they actually make time for spa dates between the two of them. Applejack's character being completely redacted to blunt honesty because she doesn't see that fashion is important? Especially with Rarity there? UGH. The One Where Pinkie Knows drives me crazy for the same reason ala Green is not Your Color - Pinkie spends the entire episode telling Twilight the fastest way to lose a friend is to tell a secret...then spends the entirety of the episode almost spoiling the biggest secret for Shining Armor and Cadence? Nope. Let's not even start on how I'd delete School Raze because the entire student focus bothers me. There was very little that I found appealing enough about them to give them focused episodes, especially a finale.

Hello everyone, shyly introducing myself

I wouldn't because then we never would've gotten Sunset Shimmer or SciTwi who actually really grew on me in the end. I think the music is really good even if I couldn't stand the clunky look of their legs in the first few movies with the leg warmers. It started to find it's feet and I think it had something going for it in the end. I will always pick canon ponies over people but that's not to say that I don't think EG was a concept worth exploring. The music was great and Sunset Shimmer is worth the watch IMO.

What's everyone's favorite movie intro?
lunarwing replied to Zephyr_'s topic in Films and Specials Discussion
1. Rainbow Rocks - It's so aggressively catchy. I have no notes. 2. Friendship Games - The opening and ACADECA are my two favorite songs in the movie if Rainbow Rocks didn't go as hard as it did, it'd be first for me no contest. 3. Equestria Girls - I really LOVE the FiM remix here. I'm not big on the theme song but the remix? YES please. 4. Legend of Everfree - The intro landed for me about as well as the rest of the movie. Sorry. -

S06:E16 - The Times They Are A Changeling
lunarwing replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 6 Discussion
I enjoyed how Shining Armor is like low-key traumatized by Changelings and firm in his stance on not trusting them until Spike comes in with a musical number, and then Shining Armor's like, "No, no, let him cook." I also absolutely LOVE Thorax. His demeanor, his voice. 10/10. He's so adorable. I also really liked seeing Spike take a more active role in solving a problem, eventually going on to befriend first the Crystal Ponies, Thorax, and Dragonlord Ember. He's out here creating more alliances with other species than Twilight. Honestly? Good for him. Love that for Spike. -

...Applejack. I'm so sorry. I like all the characters, but Applejack was consistently my least favorite. The only reason I can come up with is that she kind of arc'd and stopped developing outside of being a family oriented farm pony. She learned a great deal from her friends and did end up becoming more flexible in her character, but nothing stuck. It always felt like we were at square one in all of her focused episodes because nothing carried over. That could purely be a writing shortcoming but it always made her feel less well rounded than the others. Sorry. I'd wanted to see her have more storyline threads that continued past one single episode. IE more Rara? Kirins? I just never felt like she got to explore the focus episodes we did with her because it was kind of a one-and-done thing. The only thread that stayed post-season 4 was Pinkie becoming an Apple...which I actually love because they all have great chemistry.

Does Twilight deserve to rule?
lunarwing replied to FlutterIsBestAlicorn's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I had a similar thought last night: Twilight had no aspirations to rule Equestria and honestly? I don't think without Celestia guiding her to it that she ever would've gotten there. Twilight was happy as her student, growing her magic and living in a library. I think had she not been granted the role of princess, she would have made a good ambassador to promote friendship and harmony, but it could've been done without becoming royalty. Especially after we get a fifth alicorn princess randomly being born? I'd love to have seen lore for that aside from a vague shoulder shrug from Celestia and Luna. I think she deserves it more than Flurry Heart, and I enjoyed her becoming an Alicorn, but the way Celestia just dipped at the end of season 9 never really made sense. -

G4 was the lightning in a bottle for MLP. It just had such good bones in terms of the cast and crew, and it was so different in tone/style from the previous iterations that it stood out all the more. We also got more lore than I can remember from previous generations, which made the world-building so fun. I tried very hard to give G5 a shot as well but I couldn't get through it. I'm not the intended audience here, but even in the 2D style, there wasn't a lot about it I really enjoyed. It didn't feel as natural to me as G4 did, even in the weaker seasons. I believe it was pointed out; it felt very much like G1 only modernized and you're completely right. I think the colors and animation will probably keep young kids' attention, but I don't see it becoming a success the way G4 did. No disrespect to those that enjoyed it, it just didn't land for me like FiM did.

Your favourite Equestria Girls song?
lunarwing replied to misaokuser89's topic in Films and Specials Discussion
What I will say about Equestria Girls is that the soundtracks are SO GOOD. They absolutely popped off on Rainbow Rocks. Someone understood the assignment. I don't think there's one bad song on the album. My favorites are Welcome to the Show, Under Our Spell, and Acadeca from Friendship Games. Special mention to Friend For Life and EG Stomp from Equestria Girls. -
I don't make the rules, unfortunately. I just go here.

ABSOLUTELY. She's a lot younger than Celestia and Luna and therefore a lot more attuned to what's going on in society. She hasn't lost that humanity or empathy as you said and I think a lot of it is due to her age, similar to Twilight. They're both princess who feel more grounded and real because they've spent more time as ponies first then princesses. This is especially true for Cadence as she's shown to spread compassion and empathy which is not only an extension of her talent but lends itself so well as someone who should be in a position of power because they hear and care for all.

FACTS. But people are still incredibly judgemental and things so frequently fall into a box creating a perceived dichotomy, despite 99% of it being a shared human experience.
-
I guess due to the colors and gender norms, things like MLP are perceived as girly but there's a good reason it has amassed the fan base it has and that's a story/world that appeals to so many. I wish so many things weren't judged so harshly and I know that opinion towards gender norms is more progressive than it has been in the past. They seem to be heading in a positive direction to allow people freedom to just be people regardless of what they like. When I was younger there wasn't a Barbie or baby doll in sight. It just didn't interest me in any way. I was more into traditionally ''masculine". I like pastels. I like dreamy vibes and fantasy. Any kind of animation like MLP? fantasy and powers? Sign me up. But I also love gaming, shounen anime, and horror stories.

health What was the last medication you took?
lunarwing replied to Dreambiscuit's topic in General Discussion
I just took my bedtime medications, most of which are prescriptions for my neurospicy brain. -
Exercise and I have a complicated relationship. I've gotten much better about it in the last two years. I work out almost every single day. I do a lot of cardio mostly. It comes down to taking it one day at a time and just doing the best I can. If I push myself too hard too fast it tends to come back and bite me badly.

Cadence is so underrated as a character. Most of the attention goes to the other alicorn princesses but her singing voice is absolutely breathtaking and her design is top-tier. I always enjoy an episode that has Cadence in it. I really wish we had gotten to see more of her in the series, especially her role in the Crystal Empire being gone and then returning as it's princess. I feel like we only got a tiny glimpse of her character outside of the Empire up until Three's a Crowd.

Zecora as a character is someone I really wish had more lore/backstory on her. She's so interesting and her perspective is such a welcome one in the show. This episode feels like almost feels like a faux-pas socially at first glance, but the way it's handled it with such care and understanding that not having it -- especially in a show about friendship when you're going to encounter people radically different from yourself, is so important. 7/10 - Gimme a spin off of Zecora backstory, pls.
