It's possible to have Queen Chrysalis be a threatening villain without any character dying on screen or panel. The reason why MLP FIM disappointed me, or one of the reasons was because of how comic relief they made Chrysalis in later seasons, it sucked.

A Changeling Queen with a quest to dominate Equestria should have been bloodlusted by now. If Disney can get away with doing this with their villains, Hasbro can too. That was my main problem with the episode Mean Six portrayal of her, Mean Six destroyed themselves before Mane Six even knew what was going on in the background, a total non threat with no final battle to save Equestria, useless.
