So, for context, I haven't watched this episode since I was a kid and I have an anxiety disorder, so I tend to take mental health topics seriously.
Now, imagine being me. You're given a minute to think (it may have turned into 30 minutes) and suddenly you remember an episode of My Little Pony where Twilight got stuck in a time loop and had a mental breakdown. You didn't realize at the time that it might have been a mental breakdown, but in retrospect you see how it could be interpreted as such. My mind went through the plot of the episode and even though the details of the conclusion were hazy, I felt like they hadn't addressed this well.
So I was about to make a critique post. Until I realized I couldn't remember the name of the episode. I looked it up and ended up on a wiki. I then got this sinking feeling that I was missing something- so I decided to check the synopsis to see if there was a detail I was missing.
As I read through the conclusion of the episode, it dawned on me that my mind had entirely omitted the ending, which had Twilight learning to not worry too much about problems that could emerge in the future- which is a surprisingly helpful lesson to children with anxiety for a children's show on it's second season...
Soooo... I'd like to apologize to whoever wrote that episode: I misjudged you. Sure, it wasn't a perfect episode but it did handle the topic quite a bit better than I remembered it doing. Honestly, I think the takeaway here is that younger me probably wasn't able to wrap their head around the episode's message and unintentionally blocked out the ending because they weren't willing to let go of the fears and anxieties they thought kept them safe.
