  1. Lately my dreams have been pretty ordinary. For example, I had a dream that I was cleaning. It wasn't the most exciting dream. This has caused the depressing thought of the possibility of my imagination depleting because of everyday life. I have also considered starting a dream journal again to try to start lucid dreaming, but I am kind of terrified of accidentally going into sleep paralysis. I might just keep a dream journal anyway, so I can better understand my sub-conscious.

  2. I honestly don't know why i'm posting here.

Hello, my name is Elric. I'm 17 years old. I like to sometimes call myself a amateur artist, musician, and writer. While I don't really affiliate myself with many fandoms, I suppose I could be considered a furry. I don't really have a favorite type of music. The genres I seem to enjoy the most is indie rock, folk, and jazz/blues. I appreciate basically any artist that actually knows how to play a instrument well (one that sounds good in concert). I have tried to get involved in this forum several times, but I always get overwhelmed by the amount of users here. I am very active on Feld0's other forum, the wii u forums. I am involved in activities such as debate/public speaking, fencing, acting, and playing in a band. I am currently writing a short story called New World, about a young fox trying to find his mother. I like to play video games despite the fact that I suck horribly at them. I tend to stay around story oriented games because of that. My favorite game is Shadow of the Colossus and Heavy Rain (if you consider it a game). I also enjoy visual novels such as Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. I like to read comics sometimes and watch anime often. I'm fascinated in dreams and anything that has to do with the paranormal.

  3. I respectfully disagree. The issue here is that 4 out of those things apply to MANY other groups.

    1. So are Buddhists and members of other groups and fandoms. That's a very broad statement to be making.

    2. Every (and I do mean EVERY) fandom has that. Some have it built into the original media. The clopping side of the brony fandom is no larger than the rule 34 side of any other fandom.

    3. I'm not entire sure what this means all the way so I'll leave it alone.

    4. every fandom has fanfiction. People do it professionally for Star Wars (Go to the Barnes and Noble sci fi section if you don't believe me). Fanfiction is a universal thing that spans every media.

    5. This one is true. However, They are still ponies. You can tell they are ponies. They are not entirely anthropomorphic because they lack the major physical characteristics of humans.

    6. Comic Con. Anime Expo. Doctor Who conventions. Star Trek Conventions. Every fandom has conventions.

Most of your arguments are like trying to use the transitive property.

"pandas are fat and hairy. By using the transitive property, I deduce that I AM a panda."

    Same concept.

Obviously that's not what you're saying. But if those factors make Bronies similar to furries, then they make them similar to every other group and fandom out there.

Ok, I get that some of the statements were pretty broad. What I was trying to point out was that the MLP fandom and the furry fandom ARE similar. So i've narrowed it down to three major ways they are similar.

    1. The furry fandom has a similar "love and tolerate" mentality.

    2. Both fandoms have personas (fursonas and ponysonas). Basically characters made based on yourself. People make their own pony characters based on themselves. Same thing with Fursonas.

    3. They both have to do with animals that have human characteristics. Ponies can't talk (human characteristic). I'm not saying they are both anthro, but they do both have animals with human characteristics.

I'm not saying the MLP fandom and the furry fandom is very closely related. But there are some things that are similar between them. Actually, all fandoms are similar to each other.

  4. They have many similarities.

    1. the whole "we are accepting" mentality

    2. A sexual side of the fandom

    3. Personas (ponysonas and fursonas)

    4. Fan Fiction (pony fan fiction and fur fiction)

    5. Both have to do with animals with human characteristics in some way (ponies can't talk, it's a human characteristic)

    6. Conventions

There. 6 ways bronies are similar to furries. I'm not saying that they are exactly the same, but they are similar in more than one way.

  5. You don't have to treat being a brony like some sort of sexual orientation. You don't have to "come out" as a brony. I've seen this so many times, especially with bronies and furries.

You don't have to "come out" to anyone as a brony. Typically, if people mention I will talk about it. I don't go around screaming out "I like My Little Pony!"

  6. Eh, it's not that Disney is necessary bad nowadays. It's just like everything else, it has changed. Just like movies, tv shows, video games, and society in general changes. When we grow up with something that is now considered old, we get nostalgia. Video games aren't the same anymore (based on nostalgia). Pokemon just doesn't have that kick to it anymore (nostalgia). Old video games are totally superior to new ones (nostalgia).

We need to embrace new things. Disney hasn't really put out too many bad movies from the ones I have watched. It still incorporates themes in it's movies. It's just that most of their movies are not hand drawn like they used to be. Remember, they are appealing to the new generation. I think some of the stuff they have released has been pretty good. I would like a hand drawn film from disney though. I can only take so much of CGI animation.

  7. You should give Tae Kwon Do a try. I did it for 4 years, and did a few tournaments. Anyway, I think it would be good for discipline and concentration. But really, you can't go wrong with any kind of martial art for learning discipline.
  8. Someone on this forum in a different thread said something along the lines of: "You are only a brony/furry if you choose to accept being called and identified by that.". And I agree with them 100%

That would be me who said that. You are only a fan of something if you consider yourself one. Bronies are only Bronies if they consider themselves one. Furries are only furries if they consider themselves one. Someone could be interested in anthropomorphic animals and not consider themselves a Furry. I don't really consider myself a Brony, only a casual fan of the show.

  9. The two fandoms are similar in that they are accepting and friendly, for the most part. I suppose they are also similar in that it both deals with talking animals, but that's really it. A brony likes MLP. A furry is interested in anthropomorphic animals in some way. That is what separates them. They are also similar in that they create a persona. For bronies it is a "ponysona" and for furries it is a "fursona".

It's because the bulk of the furry fandom is very sexual and often extremely heavily fetished and kinky. This severely irks a large number of people on the internet (including bronies) as most mainstream people view sex between two sapient anthropomorphic animals as no different than beastiality.

Last time I checked, the MLP fandom has a large sexual side as well. A majority of furries are not into sexual things. Just like a majority of bronies do not like the fact that there is art that sexualizes the characters.

  10. "Huh, a luxury hotel for contestants... who would have thought. I guess I sign up didn't just go to waste then..." Lucas said as he stepped of the boat with only his jacket and his sunglasses on his head.
