  1. We're a desensitized society that has manage to shift our entire focus onto the bad and evil things in life as if they were the only things that mattered. We hate things because all we know is what's bad about them. We are too arrogant to realize that our world view is not perfect. Our popular culture is controlled by advertisers rather than normal people. We're a society where our support for a chicken sandwich or a cookie are of greater importance than people fighting for their freedom in another country. However, at the same time, we have come to a point where the social norms are breaking. We're beginning to realize that what we thought was normal a few years ago is just one part of what is truly normal. We're a society that makes beautiful things, even if they often go unnoticed. We're a society that makes great things to improve ours and other people's lives. We strive to know more about ourselves and the things around us, even if we don't have the proper funds. We're still a society that is capable of class, love, kindness, charity, intelligence, creativity, and happiness. If you spend your whole life thinking that the world around you is a dark place, you'll never see any light.
  2. Trixie. Annoying. Over-rated. Lame. Narcissistic. Hog-tied AJ. She is everything I despise in human beings....in pony form.

    music The Beatles

The Beatles are the greatest thing to happen to music in the modern era. They are, by far, my favorite band. The dynamic and level of talent is amazing. The evolution of their sound is the stuff of legend. The only musician in modern history with a greater and more positive impact on music was Louis Armstrong.
  4. The D'aaaaaw is one of the main reasons we like the show. It's the thing that makes us feel all happy and stuff. The community might not be as strong if there were no D'aaaaw.
  5. MLP is one of many things that has gotten me through a very difficult time in my life. I'll be brief lest this turn into a sob story. My closest friend passed away a little over three months ago from a car accident. She was the best thing that had ever happened to me in my entire life. Though I still feel the emptiness and pain that losing left me with, It is easier to bear because of a great many things. Among those are: a webcomic we both loved (SATW), our close mutual friends, planting an apple tree in her honor, writing to her on her facebook wall as if she could see it, listening to the music from our favorite musical (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The joy I get from watching the episodes and the sense of friendship I get from participating in the community helps to fill a little bit of that hole that her loss left in me.
  6. Alrighty then. I agree wholeheartedly. So long as we agree that they are not the exact same thing.
  7. The one thing that bugs me with this whole thing is the people that feel the need to make a thread saying: "This forum sucks, I'm leaving." If you no longer wish to participate in the forum, that's fine. But I honestly don't think it's entirely necessary to go out of your way to complain about the site and tell everyone that they no longer get to experience the joy of partaking of your wonderful insight because you got offended or don't like the fact that the forum evolved in some way. Those are my thoughts.
  8. It friggin better be. It's such a glorious song. The video makes me smile every time I watch it. So many "haters gonna hate" reactions gifs to be had from just one video.
  9. My basic reaction: HOLYMOTHEROFCELESTIATWILIGHTHASABROTHERWHYDIDWENEVERKNOWABOUTTHISAAAAAAAUUUGH!!!
  10. well slenderMAN isn't that scary. It's frankly kinda goofy because of the graphics. Slender, on the other hand, is incredibly scary. It plays on fears the same way that the best creepypastas do. Flashlights make everything scarier because outside your little cone of safety, there could be anything. Also, when you turn around... OH SHIT HE'S STANDING RIGHT THERE RUN!!!!! For how simple the game is, it is rather terrifying.
  11. Brony only defines a part of a person's taste. Not more, No less. It shouldn't define them as a human being. I have a deep love of the brony community and the show but I also have other interests, other hobbies, non brony friends, a religion, a home, an education, A lot of things. All these things together define me and brony is just a part of it.
  12. Let me put it this way..... I just couldn't get behind it. They're weird lookin'. Ponies are the only creature that get cuter as they grow older
  13. I use Tumblr. I use it to follow people I like. It's the same with Twitter. I have no reason to constantly post on either site. I follow several pony blogs, one friend, three youtubers, a few parody style blogs, and one NSFW-ish blog. I really only to some reblogging, and post an essay or story every once in a while when I decide to actually write stuff. Do I use it? yes. Am I addicted? pff, No.
  14. My elementary school replaced our playgrounds with the metal plasitc ones when I was in third grade. for a few months, both the old playground and then new one were available to play on. Everyone preferred the old wooden one. In my little valley, there are 7 playgrounds including the three at the elementary school. All of them were once the old fashionedy type. All have since been replaced by the more modern kind. I spent my childhood playing on the two in my town and it's rather depressing to see them change so much.
  15. Alrighty then. Point made. The question now is: is you is, or is you ain't a debater? seeing as how you brohoofed my post about being one and all.
  16. I apologize for the random use of fallacy accusation. I'm trying them on for size for this next debate season. However, The purpose of my post was just to connect yours with the other post I quoted, so Strawman doesn't really apply since I didn't actually try to represent your argument in any way. I understand where you're coming from with the idea of learning from the experiences of the furries. This is entirely true. What I'm basically saying is that, that logic could apply to almost any group. The similarities you mentioned also connect us to a goodly portion of the population of the world. The fact that we have cons, fanfiction, roleplay, and cosplay doesn't make our communities blood brothers. The similarities exist, but on a hugely broad scale.
  17. Again. See my post two above this. Transitive property. Also called composition-division fallacy. http://yourlogicalfa...sition-division for reference
  18. I respectfully disagree. The issue here is that 4 out of those things apply to MANY other groups. 1. So are Buddhists and members of other groups and fandoms. That's a very broad statement to be making. 2. Every (and I do mean EVERY) fandom has that. Some have it built into the original media. The clopping side of the brony fandom is no larger than the rule 34 side of any other fandom. 3. I'm not entire sure what this means all the way so I'll leave it alone. 4. every fandom has fanfiction. People do it professionally for Star Wars (Go to the Barnes and Noble sci fi section if you don't believe me). Fanfiction is a universal thing that spans every media. 5. This one is true. However, They are still ponies. You can tell they are ponies. They are not entirely anthropomorphic because they lack the major physical characteristics of humans. 6. Comic Con. Anime Expo. Doctor Who conventions. Star Trek Conventions. Every fandom has conventions. Most of your arguments are like trying to use the transitive property. "pandas are fat and hairy. By using the transitive property, I deduce that I AM a panda." Same concept. Obviously that's not what you're saying. But if those factors make Bronies similar to furries, then they make them similar to every other group and fandom out there. furthermore, http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/composition-division
  19. holy. Mother. Of. Celestia.... I never thought I could be that scared of an 8 bit game.Thank you so much for directing me to that.
  20. I watched the first PewDiePie commentary vid of this game...I pooped a little. This game is brilliantly scary because it plays on the fact that using flashlights to light your way is freaking terrifying. You only have one line of sight and ANYTHING could be lurking outside your little cone of safety.
  21. My theory: apples have more surface area than the leaves and have a much weaker hold on the tree. Therefore, the suction bypasses the leaves and moves straight to the apples because it can get a better hold on it. maybe....
  22. When you have reached an excessive age.... you have my permission to die. Bane memes aside,
  23. I am called by so many names.... Burt, Seansy, Haystack, Tits (not a fan of that one), and a few more.
  24. This is really the only minor forum I use. It's the one I frequent the most and post on the most. But, I do go on 4chan and reddit. Mainly /b/, /mlp/, /pol/, etc. Reddit is just peruse.
  25. Alright. This thread seems safe.... My opinion: no My arguments: 1) The ponies are not really anthropomorphic. Anthro is generally defined by an animal having physical characteristics and personality traits like a human. ponies have the latter, but certainly not the former. I feel to be considered anthro, they have to have both. 2) The brony culture is based on a show. Furry culture is based on a much broader idea. Bronies are bronies because MLP is a quality show and they enjoy it for it's qualities, not because there are colorful talking ponies in it (although the irony of that is, admittedly, rather sweet). If you wish to comment on or refute these arguments, please do so without misrepresenting them.
