  1. Or at least options, like difficulty modes. But Donkey Kong Country Returns, Metroid Prime series and the Fire Emblem games still offer a great challenge.
  2. Agreed, only cause no one gives FF9 the time of the day, but I wouldn't consider that a controversial opinion lol, I see it everwhere.
  3. I won't get on your case for saying his games suck, an opinion's a opinion. But I can name a whole ton of smaller games that get great recognition. Minecraft, Braid, Cave Story, Super Meat Boy. I could go on forever. Also I don't think Miyamoto is in charge of marketing, only designing the games.
  4. I'm not talking about a story, or a biography. I mean like something that shows his thinking when designing the games he worked on.
  5. So good ol Shiggy turned 60, now I’m not trying to scare anyone, but humans got their expiry date and I think it’s high time Miyamoto spilled the beans on designing a game. The guy’s obviously a genius and his methods could benefit designers of the next generation and so forth. So I say he should write all that stuff down and publish it. Thoughts, would you buy or benefit from such a book? EDIT: I DONE GOOFED, SEND THIS TOPIC TO MEDIA DISCUSSION
  6. while it's not rare in Japan, it's hard to come by here. I got a super famicom copy of Mother 2. Thought I'd sacrifice readable text for affordability (20 bucks compared to Earthbound's 150+)
  7. Nick executives thought it'd be weird having an adult woman hang out with 15 year olds.I hope though they have this new April be an aspiring reporter, and when (if) the show goes on in the seasons they have her actually getting the job and the suit. The "brotles" and "bro-claws" were a joke.
  8. So I finished watching all the current episodes of the new Ninja Turtles series they got out (about 4 episodes so far I believe) and wow, it is terrifically awesome. The writing is pretty nice, the flashbacks are pretty cool with the 2D animation and it's overall an enjoyable show. If you haven't watched it, please take the time to do so, it's really worth it. If you have watched it, let us discuss the show, our opinions and what we want to see happen next. I plan on buying some of the toys too, they look really well sculpted. I suggest we call the fanbase "Brotles". Can I get a bro-claw anyone?
  9. Plus they were ripping on controllers being too big....when the PC is a clusterfudge of buttons, not meant for gaming but for typing.
  10. I was saying that it was hard ironically dude, then again I've never played it, only watched a review and it explained it's pretty much impossible to lose on the first boss. But if it's a good challenge I'll try it.
  11. Yoshi's Story. Never before has a game asked if I had the gonads to play it by posing such intimidating challenge! It has defeated me.
  12. I'd sacrifice a goat to get Earthbound for the price. Why haven't you bought it? I would've seized an opportunity like that instantly
  13. Hopefully they get copies of Earthbound and don't realize how butthumping expensive it is, that way I can buy it and not make my wallet cry
  14. Games with FP perspective have done a lot of new things (not the shooters tho) Portal as well, Portals. And Amnesia uses it's first person perspective to make scares more effective, the scariest thing is what could be behind you.
  15. there are ten Metroid games, and only four of them used a first person perspective, and even then the focus was on exploration. While I'm not into CoD, they shouldn't end it, they should improve it though.
  16. Hmm, looking at these other views I can see why it's impressive. I never said I didn't like FiM's animation though, it's great, real great. So yeah maybe sticking to flash wouldn't be so bad
  17. Cost wise, yeah Flash is the best way to go (though Adobe charges up the butt with their prices goddang 1000 bucks for flash, this is why piracy exists) but man, look at some of the storyboards, they're so expressive.
  18. I like FiM's animation and it's art style. But looking at story boards and other cartoons like Gravity Falls I feel FiM could do better, and to do that I feel traditional animation is the way to go. Does anyone else feel this way?
  19. Bioshock Infinite, seeing the trailers gets me all excited for it. I like the change from H2o to O honestly.
  20. Thanks for the criticism, it's really boosted my confidence, tomorrow I shall post my observations from the prologue to the first save point in Crateria. http://robo-guy9000.tumblr.com/post/29512852647/analyzing-super-metroids-menus Oh, I uploaded Part 2 now, this is where I observe the menus and point out the possible reasoning behind them.
  21. OH NO NO DI'INT GURRLLLLLL, YOU ARE AS WRONG AS CAN BE, IT'S CLEARLY ACTION 52. Mmmm hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
  22. Megaman 2, 3 and Dragon Quest IV, can't decide between those three spectacular games....OH and Kirby's Adventure.
  23. I'm an inspiring game designer and artist, I have so many great ideas for games that I'd really like to see happen, but like Extra Credits said it's not all about concepts, it's also providing ideas on how to make it work as a game, what emotion I plan to evoke and how to do it effectively. How to make the game's design work with the mechanics, (example: Superman 64's linear point A to B design did not work with the open flying mechanic. So they made the rings so the player would have a linear path to follow.). So after watching the video Extra Credits made on playing like a designer I thought I'd apply what I read and heard to Super Metroid's intro, it was all I could do at the time and I plan on doing more. I posted my observations here. http://robo-guy9000.tumblr.com/post/29491855130/a-design-analysis-of-super-metroids-opening I'd greatly appreciate critique and methods on how to improve my observations.
  24. I recently rediscovered this one from my childhood. Alien 3 for the Sega Genesis. This was the first game that scared me straight. What with it's creepy level start screen and the fact that the enemies pop out of nowhere most of the time. And it's got an eerie soundtrack, and because of the Genesis' weird soundchip it has a sci-fi tone to it.
  25. I've finished Earthbound and Mother 3 already on an emulator, but the fanboy in me strives to have a physical copy.
