  1. This was a great find - I'd about given up hope that I'd ever see a personality test where all of the choices weren't blatantly obvious pushes for a character. Rainbow Dash prominent, Applejack secondary. I guess that makes me reliably awesome?
  2. Here's a Spell Card for Derpy - trying to incorporate the element of her cross eyes, as well as the associated clumsiness.

    It sounds like you had enough problems with it that I wouldn't recommend trying to pick it back up. If you're looking for something that's got more emphasis on building out a more involved story with something that is very different in tone and style than Haruhi, perhaps try checking out Durarara or Baccano? That's the first recommendation that comes to mind for me.
  4. I ended up having to get ours from eBay as well. I picked it up before they went up on Hasbro's store and sold out, because I figured that was only going to drive the already absurd prices up even higher. In the end, it cost around $80 dollars with shipping. Sadly that feels like a deal compared to what the prices are at, now. >< It's really a bummer to see such a fan favorite character only made available in such a limited capacity. Not everyone has the time, money, or availability to go to SDCC or pick these up from eBay scalpers. I wish the exclusive had just been a color or material variant on something existing - something that's really cool to have, but you're not going to feel like you've missed out or been denied for not having it.
  5. I haven't picked up much from the Steam sale yet, because almost everything I'm interested in, I've already got. ><; I did however pick up Ys Origin, and Dear Esther. Ys is a fantastic series, so getting the new game for $8 dollars is an utter steal. Dear Esther was $2.49 well spent - it's not a long experience, but it is well done. They did a great job with the atmosphere and storytelling, but I can't really recommend it to anyone looking for a rollicking feel-good experience.

    It really depends on why you dropped the show - what didn't you like about it? Knowing that would help in making a recommendation of something you might enjoy more. Even though I love the show, I will admit that it just isn't for everyone.
  7. I've been on many, many forums over the years - ranging from Administrator to just a regular user, and one thing that I've found will consistently harm a community or kill a forum is when its leadership no longer acts as an example for what a user should be. If leadership sets an example of being welcoming, helpful, and inviting - that is the model that people will follow, and it sets the tone for all of the interactions that follow. When leadership is absent, passive, or abusive, then that sets them up an antagonistic entity that people can't respect, and then people won't respect each other. A lot of it comes down to being able to tell that people care about their forums and their community - so I love finding places like this where it's really apparent that people do care and want this to be a great experience.
  8. Spooky is a nickname that I've had for many, many years. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, and I'm really drawn to things that are evocative of the feel of it. That's mostly centered on the fun and quirky aspects of it, not the twisted and macabre - so for example, The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies. I also have an unusual fascination with the color orange. ^^;

    For anyone that hasn't seen the series and is at least remotely interested in it, I highly recommend checking it out. It remains one of my favorites, to the tune of having spent over $200 on getting the special edition releases of each DVD as it came out. You don't even want to know how many Haruhi & cast figures we have between my wife and I. For example, we've got a full set of the figmas that I'll arrange as dioramas going across the fireplace mantle - the current lineup features such highlights as elk-headed Kyon terrorizing Mikuru, and Tsuruya gleefully giving a too-cheerful Itsuki a Thousand Years of Pain. Yeah... we're a bit weird.

    Godzilla holds a special place in my heart. When I was little, and had to stay home sick, I would always ask my parents to rent Godzilla movies. Nothing to help you get better than kaiju battles, right? On my desk at work, I've got a fairly large Godzilla, Mecha Godzilla, and Gigan chilling out with my anime figure collection. Occasionally the Gundam Impulse that I put together will ride on Godzilla's shoulders... just because it looks epic.
  11. I really want to say Firefly, because I've absolutely loved that series. Realistically, I think I'm happy with what I got of it, and am content to fill in the blanks of what might have happened in my head. I think it's because it was a character drama centered on conflicts and trust. I'd hate to see them running out of ways to get Mal cross at Jayne by their third season, you know? ...I think I'd be ok with just one more season, though. Also, seconded on Legends of the Hidden Temple. When I was a kid, I wanted to be on the Orange Iguanas, and I remember giving some thought to how id use my imaginary martial arts prowess to overcome the Temple Guards. XD
  12. If you've got any questions or are looking for advice on how to go about getting into the industry, just let me know - I'm happy to help! For everyone else, thanks for the warm welcome! It's so nice to have finally found a friendly place to converse, so much of the Internet is so negative that it hurts. XD
  13. Another newcomer introducing themselves, here. To say a little bit about myself, I'm a professional game designer by trade, an anime enthusiast, a sometimes artist and musician, and a full time zookeeper (not really on that last one, I just have a lot of pets in my house. XD) My wife and I are both MLP fans, converted about halfway through season 1. At the time, we were -too cool- to get what all the fuss was about; how could people possibly be into a new Pony show? After all, most remakes of things from my youth have been disastrous. Then one day, while taking a sick day from work, my wife decides to watch the show to see for herself. The first episode was a cliffhanger, so clearly she had to watch the next, and then the next... Meanwhile at work, meandering around the Internet had led me to discover the existence of Derpy. I have a great love of the bizarre and humorous, so just that alone was 90% of the battle won in getting me to watch the show. After returning home and seeing my wife -still- watching episodes, it became pretty apparent that I needed to watch, too. We've been watching every new episode together as they come out ever since. Hopefully that gives you some idea of who I am, and I look forward to getting to know you!
