  2. Haha, should have "J/K'd" that. Hopefully we'll get a few inspired individuals to come up with something.

Also, I happen to like the Uruguayan flag... love that May Sun.

  3. It's an interesting idea. But...what would an arguing cutie mark a Brony pride flag even look like??

Well... You could do stripes in the Mane six colors, and I guess Princess Celestia's cutie mark in the field, or a generic pony silhouette or the hub logo or something.

Yes I have put too much thought into this, haha.

  4. This thread is to discuss anything flags. What's your favorite flag? Got any flag trivia to share? Any comments on the Nepalese or Libyan flag? Post it here!

To start the thread off, my favorite flag is the Tennessee flag. It's got all the elements of a good flag. Bask in its glory.

I don't know much about the Nepalese flag, but I know the (old) Lybian flag is simply a blunt expression of Islamic fundamentalism that Ghaddafi wanted everyone to know. Green is the color of Islam, almost every Muslim nation has green in their flag.

While we're on the topic... why don't we have a Brony pride flag? If I were the artistic type I'd have made one already, lol

  5. I know that they are based on the Blue Angels; it just seems that they do more than just stunt shows.

Yeah, but Equestria doesn't seem to have a military. They only have internal security like...I donno the Swiss or something. But I know a few people who saw the Thunderbirds/Blue Angels at airshows and wanted to be pilots based on that, so I guess that's the parallel.

That being said, Canterlot has a HUGE security foce... I wonder what else is out there...(aside from Changelings and whatnot)

  6. Yeah, there's at least one NCO here at Tinker who is a brony too... he just did up his daughter's bedroom to look like ponyville and it turned out great.

Also loving the "So there I was..." we use that alot in the aviation community, along with "wouldn't it be nice" and "drink bitch."

At any rate you're bringing alot of great experience on to these boards, and I for one thing that's pretty cool.

  7. I'd say huge party... I'd go nanners if I had to stay home, even though I like to.

WYR Live the next five years with an unlimited budget and die, OR live an unusually long and accomplished life, but not get credit for it (like, curing cancer)

  8. I only noticed it as something weird popping up on funnyjunk, which I no longer like that much. I decided to look it up on know your meme and check out all the weird pony stuff people were posting. I decided after a while to watch the first episode, and force myself though the first five. I did have moments where I was like... "WTF am I doing?" but alot of them were too good to pass up.

I became hooked after I finished the first season and the rest is history. I actually only really love maybe six or seven episodes, and dislike only three or four.

Fun fact: Season 2 started the same week as my class graduation, which was the same week of the DADT repeal becoming effective. Coincidence?

  9. I have a very close friend that I've seen cry only twice, but it is the most heartbreaking thing to not only see someone you love suffer, but to not be able to do anything about it.

Check out the movie The Way Home (Jiburo) its a Korean film about a spoiled boy who learns to appreciate his grandmother and his family.

  10. I'm pretty secretive of it. I told a buddy of mine from work... he gave me an odd look but he never told anyone about it. I was very embarrassed about it at the time so I told him not to mention it... *insert pinkie pie quote here*

My lesbian friend oddly enough has had the biggest problem with it, but more the show than me. She just doesn't get the appeal or the fandom. I showed her an article on autostraddle.com but that didn't seem to convince her. Of all the things I would try to convert her too, I thought that would be the one, haha.

I showed my mom "Swarm of the Century" for the Star Trek references and "Read it and Weep" because it's awesome. I showed my sister and her boyfriend Lesson Zero and Party of One for the sheer lunacy factor. Then we watched "Friendship is Magic, Bitch!" and "Epic Pie Time"

  11. I think labeling it as a disorder gives it a power over you as if it's something that you can never overcome. Most challenges in life are 99% mental obstacles, and I believe we can overcome them if we try hard enough. Just remember that it is something you can overcome if you try hard enough...

True, but sometimes it lets you identify the problem and actually solve it, rather than worrying about the unknown. The real issue is self-diagnosing or having someone who is unqualified diagnose you. It's easy to become a hypochondriac if you allow yourself to become fixated on a disease that you find... for lack of a better word, appealing.

Realistically, alot of people are shy and reclusive, but sometimes its a phase that passes. One thing I did to get better at being social (I'm not by a long shot an extrovert) is getting a job. I used to work at a Bed Bath and Beyond and I was forced to interact with customers and my co-workers. This sort of alleviated my anxiety because I had an excuse to talk to them.

    Technique only.

  12. WYR go deep sea fishing from a boat or spear fish with scuba gear?

Probably deep sea fish... then I could drink beer.

How about this: Be an award winning author... or an indie film director?

  13. I just read these posts all in one hit and they've left me in tears, especially the one where Celestia remembers all her old students, and the one Dinky wrote about her mother Derpy. So now of course I have to post one of the saddest pics I've found. I love it, although it makes me cry every time I look at it.

    I'm sorry, everypony!

In fact, anything featuring Scootaloo and her hero worship is either adorable or heartbreaking:

I literally welled up in tears when I saw this...OMG

  14. Skyrim gets boring after while, lacks original dungeons (okay maybe except few) and annoys me with player's lack of power over the story. You're given different ways to reply to a dialogue, yet it rarely changes anything about story.

    *hides behind a hate-proof shield*

I actually got glitched in Skyrim. I was doing Skuldafn and was unable to solve puzzles, fight the Dragon Priest and get his Mask. I also didn't have a backup save. All that time...

  15. It has for me. I told a few of my friends and now im a laughing stock. They really dislike me. They still talk to me but think im really weired and stay away from me more now. After telling my dad about bronies he said they are all gay little weirdos so I have to be cautious when im watching the show because if he found out he'd go crazy. It has had good effects too though. A friend of my mine who is a girl 14 has recentley become a pegasister and we talk about the show all the time! :)

I'm sorry you have to go through that. It's unfortunate that we sometimes don't get the luxury of being around tolerant, well adjusted people. I think that's why I'd like to motivate more Bronies to become active in Anti-bullying. Hopefully you find strength in the friends that do treat you well, and know that true friends will help you become a better person from your hardship. Sometimes though, it is better to keep things a secret.

  16. I love Futurama. After Into the Wild Green Yonder it actually got pretty good. Definitely alot better than the Simpsons had been when I stopped watching it.

In an unrelated topic: American Dad>Family Guy

  17. I think alot of the time the show is a temporary solution because It's a great way to escape from stress. I'll tell you this though, every time I get into an argument with my friend, or just get mad in general, I remember some of the episodes and try to patch things up. I got to a point where I was going to stop watching the show because I didn't want to talk to her any more, but then I read "My Little Dashie" and for some reason wanted to talk to her again... that turned out for the best because we are both going through some hard times now.

She personally does not want to watch ponies, but she's lets me talk about them so thats cool.

  18. Rainbow Dash ate the blueberry pie gum at Wonka's factory.

Take her to the squeezing room!

    *blows Oompa Loompa whistle*

That's funny... yeah I could only imagine that happening: "I've got a blueberry for a weather pony!"

  19. in short, it was just a big, giant hatefest, and there were no winners on either side. nothing of value was lost, nothing of value was gained, boatloads of hate were spawned. a thing to be learned from, i'd say.

Very well said. I forgot about the backlash against the parent. But that rolls into my previous comment of just being good role models, especially for people new to the fandom. Just like any community, the influx of members will change the dynamic unless our culture is fully grounded in our core values of love and tolerance.
