This is something I have wanted to do for a while, but never had a team to do. I have a copy of RPG maker XP, Im nto sure which you are using, so I dont know if I can help. But I will suggest you find tilesets as well and everything to make it nice. If you need any help testing or scripting, or just designing maps, let me know!

I can help with gameplay mechanics, I've worked on several games from a mechanics standpoint (none that ever got off the ground, sadly). Also, story concepts, universe building, stuff like that.

This would actually work, and give us a reason to work and finish it. If we make a part of the game (For instance, saving twilight,) We could make it much longer, and then release it as a kind of "episode". That way, instead of working on everything at once, we can keep our ideas relatively narrow-minded

I don't believe the 'it's a cartoon' is a really good response when I hear about a plot that basically destroys the concept of space. It's outer space; there is no sound because there is no physical medium for sound to travel though, such as air.

 

By the way, you know what it takes to make an RPG more epic than every other RPG out there, right? RPG's are huge projects, and I am not kidding. Here I am creating little side-scrollers in TWO DAYS for a My Little Game Jam competition while my own RPG project with a team of 10-ish people doesn't even have an alpha after three months.

How in the world can sound travel through space to another planet? I have a hunch that you might wanna have some more careful planning to avoid having a cliché story line full of logical holes. If you wanna make history, a bland story is something you probably want to avoid.

 

you also havent looked at everything else we have discussed on the other forum i created... The story is completely different now. And also guess what... It's all cartoon logic..

yeah i know... I wish it were possible to export it to mac and even android and such.. Unfortunately i have no idea how to use gamemaker and thats the only one i know that can export to apple and android stores... and html too i think. Not to mention how expensive it is.

He notified me that he has great interest in our game, and that apparently proboards will take all respondibility for it and even sell off the idea... So we gotta move again (sorry guys).

Hello Everypony!

 

I just got a status update on the story.

 

I have decided:

 

The game title is

 

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Tales of Equestria

 

But. The game will not be traditional. Instead of one really really big rpg that would take forever to culminate (who knows if bronies will rise or decline by the time the whole game is done) we will instead have the story of rescuing the mane 6 from discords evil mind control. This would consist of a lengthy time getting to each pony. And each time you rescue a pony, you get a certain unlock. The unlocks would be,

 

RD - Flight

AJ - Increasd Strength

Rarity - ?

Twilight - Increased magic

Pinkie Pie - ?

Fluttershy - ?

 

You have the ability to rescue them in any order you wish.

Aftering rescuing all of the ponies, the game is over.

 

BUT NOT REALLY.

 

This is where it becomes untraditional. This is only Episode 1 & 2.

 

We will release additional Episodes as time goes on, which devolpment continuing as soon as ep 1 and 2 release.

Personally, I don't think Rarity should fight, but maybe she could be that character who finds quests for you to do, or maybe she could be a companion of some sort

 

My personal idea is to user Rarity as the 'blue magic' or buff magic character. Also, the questing will be very Skyrim like if we can work that out.

 

I am very good with storyline writing and concept art, I'm also pretty good with using console commands, scripting, and editing features (for example i am very good a using GECK for fallout and programs like that) but i would much prefer being a writer. I have experience writing for plays and animation shorts.

When you say scripting do you mean story, dialogue, or RPG Maker scripting?

 

A quick whip from her scarf, Throwing gems. Finding gems? I dunno she could be like Mage with her magic. Gems could do stuff. Whining! that could do some damage. Pinke would require a lot of randomness yea

 

I think Whining! should be some sort of stun spell maybe? Which would also reinforce my idea about using Rarity as a Buff/Debuff character. Gems could maybe be like runes in other games? Maybe they can be used to upgrade weapons?

 

I only had a quick look at the RPG maker program before I left the house, but I think there are the facillities to create unique movesets for each pony.

 

 

Here's some basic themes I thought up.

 

Twilight Sparkle: Magic

AppleJack: Bucking/lasso

Fluttershy: First Aid/cuteness/the stare/animal friends

Pinkie PIe: Parties and Randomness

Rainbow Dash: Fast Flying, taunting

 

Rarity is quite hard to think of moves for. As fighting is unladylike, her moves could be cameos of other ponies, like dr whooves and derpy.

 

My idea for RD: Kind of like a dragoon, being able to leap into the air and attack from above. Pure DPS.

AJ: I think AJ should be kind of like a tank. Having most DEF.

Fluttershy: First aid for sure.

Twilight: DPS Magic for sure.

Pinkie: Not sure....

Rarity: Buff/Debuff

Sounds great! Don't get too bombarded with ideas and comments. Focus on what you know makes a good game and keep it as basic as possible at first until it's done! That's what the Mane6 DevTeam for Fighting is Magic did, and they've got a great game! I'd love to help with play testing, unfortunately I've not got any skills in making games, I've just read a lot on it. I'm sorta the Twilight Sparkle on it, I know how it all works and how to get the best out of it. Mr Winter Wrap up organiser.

 

Well you could start off the game like other RPG's do, nice and slow with 1 character only. Starting with Twilight while she's still lonely, she gets sent to Ponyville, meets 1 friend so your team is upgraded to 2. Then step by step with each new character coming you learn more and more how the game works, like after 5 how to switch ponies in and out. I dunno (o_O)/

 

Ofc have the cliche starting with everypony going to a big celebration of some sort, basically you could start off with the Nightmare moon story. Have her as a slightly quick boss. Learn how to use the EofH special

 

Then after that you could start on your own story that you've got Have I got the right gist of the game or am I completely off tangent?

 

Keep churning my friend. The story is still clouded. We need to keep making ideas. Not saying yours is bad, but I feel like we need to keep making more and more ideas and bring them together, finding the best parts of each.

 

Hmm. This might be a fun project. I'm downloading the trial version to check out the program. Can I join up as a writer/mechanics designer(thinking up attacks and items ect.)?

 

Also, are the class names place holders? They don't really work for me.

 

I would think it would be better to have things like: Party Animal, Unicorn Wizard, Animal Carer, Fashionista ect.

Your on! And yes the class names where place holders, just to signify which pony they belong to.

 

It depends on the style of the game, whether we are going to be playing OCs or characters from the Mane 6 I guess.

We could have them as multi-role companions for example, like they could accompany you on quests and even provide you with them, some of them (like Rainbow Dash) may well fight along side your character for a while.

Or perhaps they could even be summoned using a special point system in game or something. As i've said before we're only just starting out here, we can go anywhere and do anything with this. As long as everypony sticks together and keeps faithful to the journey!

 

Just remember Hurricane Fluttershy, what did we learn? Everyone helps

 

They won't be OC's. I want the game to have the mane6 as the manechars. And btw, there will be more than just one pony in the party at a time. not like skyrim where you just walk around by yourself (mostly)

The sprite workers will be using our designs in their models, we will be making designs for characters, places, landscapes etc.

Basically without the concept art, things aren't going to be anywhere near as good as they could be.

Concept art involves everything, but certain artists are better at drawing certain things. I'll be drawing mainly ponies for example, but I feel I can draw pretty much anything that's needed, even if at only a basic level, I just hope there are people that can draw landscapes/buildings better than I can

 

Well, I see the concept art as exactly that, a concept. I am not going to take spriters or mappers creativity away by saying here is a pic I like, make it a pony. The concept art will be kind of like, hey take this and make it, but see if you can make it even better.

Log 1: 10/06/12 - Began work on the game. Setting up character names and face pictures. Just need sprites and the mane 6 will be all ready aesthetically.

 

Go the character faces done! Did the opening theme song as the MLP theme song! Added classes : Magic, sharing kindness, beautiful heart, faithful and strong, big adventure, tons of fun

No unfortunately RPG maker can't do multiplayer. It would be a nice idea though! Maybe I'll look around at google see if I can find something

Sprites, and if needed (rpg maker has some resteictions in a way), I know a bit of Java and I'm actually working on an engine for an Equestria Divided RPG

Glad to have your support! You shouldn't necessarily need a copy. For story, you can just put your ideas on a post. For level design you can simply draw out the levels, dungeons and what not. I would like to stay as accurate to the show as possible, but lets face it, aliens isn't really accurate to the show so we still have alot of play room.

 

And btw I think story needs the most assistance right now, but anything helps! Ill add you on as both on the member list.

Yea so one day I met this really pretty girl on the first day of school and she was really into Nirvana. Then I found out she had a boyfriend. Then they broke up. Then she got a girlfriend and that's when I realized she was bi. They've been together for over a year now. Well at least I have her as a friend on Facebook. My life is pathetic. I always say this song is one of the most perfect songs ever made. Lyrically and musically, everything is beautiful. Gets me all goosebumpy and teary eyes. i now love you for showing me this. I don't care if I get flagged for posting non relevant things. I just found one of my favorite types of music evar.

I've been at college for about 6 weeks now. Since I live in the dorms, I have to live with a roommate. His name is Kevin, and he's a pretty nice guy overall, but he's pretty close-minded when it comes to My Little Pony.

 

I don't talk about the show with him, or try to get him to like it. I watch My Little pony on my laptop (with my headphones in, so that Kevin can't hear it), I look at pony art, and post in pony forums. I haven't publicly displayed my love of the show to him...until now.

 

A few weeks ago, I ordered a My Little Pony poster from Ebay. It came in the mail today. The poster is pretty basic. It's a 22x26 print of a smiling Rarity, with a purple and black background. I hung it up over my desk, and thought nothing of it.

 

A little while later, my roommate walks into the room. He sets down his backpack, then looks at the poster. He stares at it for a few seconds, and says nothing. His phone starts to ring. He answers it. I can't hear the voice on the other end of the line, but I hear my roommate say,

 

"Yeah. it's still on for tonight. You can come over whenever, I guess..."

 

I see him cast a worried glance at the poster.

 

"Uh, yeah, sure. Bye." He hangs up the phone.

 

I ask him: "So you're having friends over tonight?"

 

"Yeah..."

 

"Ok."

 

Later that night, his friends come over. I had to go to my lab class that evening, so I wasn't there while his friends were in our dorm room. When I get back, my roommate's face is red, and he looks angry. (I think he might've been a little drunk too, so if his actions seem extreme, I think that's partly why)

 

"What's up?" I say.

 

He points to my poster.

 

"So...you're just gonna shove it in my face now, is that it?"

 

"Does it bother you or something?"

 

"Hell yeah, it does! It's a f****** pony!"

 

"You didn't have a problem with it earlier today..."

 

"Who WOULDN'T have a problem with it?? It's a f****** eyesore!!"

 

I shake my head in disbelief.

 

"Look...I know you're upset right now, let's not make a big deal about this. Maybe we should get some rest and--"

 

"F*** REST! Take it down, dude! It's freaking embarrassing!"

 

"I'm not taking it down, I paid 25 bucks for it! Look..did your friends make fun of you about it or something? Just tell them it's mine. And besides, there's no reason for people to laugh at it, it's just a tv show I like."

 

My roommate shakes his head and begins to laugh under his breath.

 

"What?" I say.

 

"No reason for people to laugh at it? C'mon, dude. You know it's wrong. Admit it. It's for little girls, and you don't want to admit it. I can see that."

 

"I--"

 

"Shhhhhhhhh...c'mon. I'll forget the whole thing, if you take it down right now. We can put this behind us, and--"

 

"Oh my God, dude...are you seriously...are you f****** kidding me right now? Are you really flipping out about something this trivial, this stupid, this--

 

"SHUT UP!!" Kevin yelled.

 

"That's it. I'm done. I'm leaving. F*** you." I said as I slipped out the door.

 

"Fine! Get outta here!" Kevin yelled as I left.

 

When I came back later that night, Kevin was gone. I found my poster ripped to shreds on the ground.

 

I am SO angry at him right now. He had NO right to do that! I waited a long time for that poster, and he destroyed it! I have no idea what to do. I am really, really disturbed by his reaction to my pony poster. I know he was probably drunk, but I don't know if I can continue to live with a guy that will have that extreme of a reaction to pony-related stuff. Do you think I should file a complaint to the dorm supervisor and switch roommates, or do you think I should talk to Kevin about it first? He seemed like a nice enough guy before this happened.

 

Update:

He came into our room a few minutes ago, and apologized to me. He said that the main reason he got so upset is that his friends said that they couldn't be friends with a guy who associated so closely with a "gay fag". He tried to explain that it wasn't his fault, and that he didn't choose me as his roommate, but they wouldn't listen.

 

I told him that those didn't sound like very good friends to me, but he said he didn't want to talk about it anymore, and then he went to sleep.

 

I didn't bring up the money, because he seemed tired and upset

 

my friend... my brony... I wish your roomie would understand... See thats the thing about us bronies, we have to accept the fact that people WILL scrutinize us every chance they get... All be cause we challenge a gender stereotype...

 

As to weather you should file a complaint, I would try and talk to him first... if it still continues like this, do the complaint ASAP. there is nothing worse then being criticised for what you like, whether it be ponies, pokemon, or whatever. No one should destroy your property btw... If you do end up filing the complaint, I would then promptly ask for the money for the poster. He destroyed what was yours, and in the laws eyes that is illegal.

I think it is okay to be proud of your work. But arrogance is of course a by product of pride if it is not kept in check at all times. Recall to when Rainbow became a hero, but ended up getting way to arrogant and the other ponies had to dress up as the Mare Do Well, in order for her to finally cave...

I shall mention my least favorite pony anyway: Diamond Tiara. If she was lying injured, I would help her up. Get her to a hospital if need be. Then I would ask why she's so mean to everypony. Hopefully I would gain a better understanding of her reasons for being mean, and hopefully I could show her that acting that way really hurts others' feelings, and make her see the error of her ways.

Im not sure if anyone else has noticed but when Twilight Sparkle recived her cutie mark as seen here.

Im thinking of this as a possible reference because in both scenes Gohan and Twilight are both full of power. Both powers are caused by something, both powers are neturalized by a mentor, and both Twilight and Gohan recived something in the end.

Twilight recives her cutie mark.

Gohan recives the ability to go Ssj/ Super Sayin.

 

Great though my friend, however I do believe it just a coincidence... A nice one, but just a coincidence... I do love both shows though and who knows, maybe that is an element of shows that I like that I just discovered? The ability to do something no one else, (or at least few) can do.

I haven't been active and I decided not to be because I just am tired of it. Seriously so many haters and so many bronies boiling the piss out of me. (Not in general before someone wants to say something about that ^^.) So I decided to make a post for everyone who just wants to talk about current life, the generation and maybe your toughts on peace.

 

Moreover it's more about philosiphy really.

 

So we all can start a subject if you want.. Mine is; what's your toughts on how the world currently is?

 

My toughts: Honestly it's messed up... People fail to see that money was meant for a method of trading not a method of power.

 

Ontop of that we give value to such things that we would harm others for it... (Computers and technical stuff. very expensive clothes. Stuff people would ''Die'' for to get.)

 

I'm not some sort of hippie that thinks violence is never the answer because.. It can be. For example fighting.. I do martial arts so I love doing it, But not to harm others but to demonstrate my strength and my love for fighting.

 

And i'm not saying guns or weapons are bad. Because we should have a way to defend ourselves; not from eachother though. Why would we want to harm eachother for mere reasons then survival when we can make it so easy?

 

Nor do I hate war; I only dislike how it's used nowadays. Surely there are some people who find joy in war, thinking it out (Like it's a game of chess.) Or fighting in it. (Combat because you like it.) But nowadays we only fight to ''Defend ourselves'' right? But if everyone defends... Why is there attack?

It's funny how people try to justify murder.. But it can't be. Murder is always wrong unless the ''Victim'' agrees to it. Wich wouldn't be murder then, would it?

 

How low we have fallen, Kill for a gucci cap. Steal for an ipod worth a thousand euros/dollars. I'm not a communist either.. (Don't know if I am. but I think not.) But what if we all just did what we loved, and made it because of that for free and for others? I love music and animating. I would gladly do it for free and entertain everyone! But society forces us to acknowledge money as ''Everything'' In life.

 

People surely like C++, Programming and that technical stuff. So why do you want more then you need? Surely a nice house with every technological thing to make your life a paradise should be enough? Why have another 50 million you probably wouldn't be able to spend in a lifetime anyway?

 

Has anyone seen that one movie ''in time''?

So what if we all just gave our services for free? there are

7,066,344,992 humans on the earth (And still counting.) Surely from all those... many variety of passions are there? (Bakers, farmers, programmers, entertainers and more.)

 

Ontop of that patriotism.. Just a lame excuse to enter the military and start mindlessly killing to ''Serve'' your country. Honestly it ticks me off how there are borders while we all have a common thing and all want to fullfill it; To live and pass on our genes so they can survive.

 

Well there's still a lot that I want to say...

but this is it and I wrote this totally because I just wanted to make a nice, quality post on the forums for once.

 

TL;DR

We all should try to live together in love and peace, And express our hate in violence. But only to those who have accepted the consequences. Ontop of that we shouldn't use money as a method of power but a method of trading. Lately it's more money more power.

Nor trying to be a buzzkill or anything, but what does C++ programming have to do with ANYTHING you just posted... Especially seeing as alot of programmers don't fit into any particular part of your post...

 

I do agree with your mony statement though.. I wish we could go back to the old days where I traded you this ear of corn for that delicious apple you got there...
