  1. As soon as the episode aired, I saw Alicorn Twilight toys on the shelves, but I don't think that is the reason she became an Alicorn. It might have influenced when they made her an Alicorn, but I think it was their plan all along.Twilight was always going to be Celestia's successor. But I think she is still too young to rule. She still needs time to learn how to use her new powers, as well as how to lead Equestria.

  2. I think most of the hate is from people who are afraid that the sudden and drastic change with change the show itself. That maybe Twilight won't be with the mane 6 anymore. Personally, I doubt it. Where ever she is, her friends will stick with her. Even if she is in Canterlot, you know her friends would visit her often. But I think she will stay in Ponyville, while she learns how to use her new found abilities.

Personally, I like the idea, and can't wait to see what they do with it in season 4.

  3.

Sprocket from "Real Men Watch My Little Pony" on Facebook did a pretty good muse about the inspirational effects of MLP:FiM, or as he called it "ponyjoy."

I'll put most of it in spoilers to save space:

Ponyjoy. I think the most amazing thing about it is that it's not just a feeling, it's an energy source.

It inspires us to spend countless hours making PMV's, writing music, fanfiction, art, and every craft imaginable from wallets to cakes. It is a feeling so powerful that it isn't enough to just watch ponies and smile, it makes you want to spread those smiles around like Pinkie Pie does.

I'm not going to attempt to speak for everypony, but for me, when I see those smiles spreading around, when I see bronies raising over $100,000 in a single year to help those in need, I feel like Equestria is growing, making a difference not just in my internal life, but in the whole wide world.

Isn't that what everyone wants? Their inner life to be in harmony with that which goes on without? To feel like what they are doing actually means something?

Now obviously the brony community can't be all the meaning in your whole life, but still, it's darn good to know that you're part of something that is a force for good in the world.

However, there is a problem: there are some bronies who look around at all this beauty going on in the community, and feel left out. They lament because they think they have nothing of value to contribute.

    Not true.

Even if you haven't found your special talent, or if that talent hasn't manifested in a way that will garnish much attention, you're still here.

One thing that everypony reading this has in common is that you all, at some point, felt motivated to come online and participate in the brony community in some way. You could have watched the show on your own and not participated in fan activity, but you decided to come here and talk about your love of ponies. To share it. To be social.

    To make friends.

That's a noble endeavor in and of itself - making friends. It was Twilight's sacred mission, and it saved Equestria on more than one occasion. It's why we are here.

So treat your ponyjoy like a tool - a weapon of peace and smiles and cupcakes. Use it to make friends, to brighten your life, and to brighten the lives of others. That's magic, and the great thing about being a brony is that magic is the ultimate renewable energy source.

    -Sprocket

However, he did make a special note to bronies who feel discouraged because they feel like they're not contributing to the community. I wonder if he saw this thread. :P

Wise words. It's not the art, but rather the motivations behind it, that counts.

Even so, I still feel inspired to try to better my creative self. It is a feeling of lamentation at times, but...positive lamentation, if there is such a thing. I know that all the most famous bronies have been refining their arts long before the arrival of MLP* (For example, Mando has been playing string instruments for 9 years), and I've done nothing, but it's still given me the push to get off my lazy flank and flex my right-brain a bit. You have to start somewhere, right? And you can only get better with experience.

Moral of the story: Just try. What have you got to lose other than some spare time, a few MBs, or a few inches of pencil lead?

I feel blessed to be a brony. I might only be a fledgling artist and primordial musician (if that makes sense), but if it weren't for MLP and the brony community I wouldn't be trying my hoof at the arts at all. And because of that, I am grateful.

*Are there any famous bronies who only began their craft after watching MLP?

I know I'm not very artistic, but Vinyl, Octavia, and Octavia's ensemble have inspired me to finally try to learn an instrument. For Christmas this year, I got an electronic Keyboard. Unfortunately, with my work schedule, I have trouble finding the time to learn it. But I'm trying. An hour here, fifteen minutes there. Before you know it, I'll be playing Winter Wrap Up. I doubt it will turn out to be my special talent or anything, but I am becoming a more well rounded individual because of ponies. Now if I can only find more time to read.

  4. Just wondering. What would you classify yourself as, everyone? Hipster? Moderate? Creative? I'm definitely a moderate. My interest was piqued by others on the internet (BO emblems, other forums with MLP threads, etc), it just took me a while to bite (in fact, my first episode I ever saw was "Too Many Pinkie Pies").

    What about you guys?

Definitely Moderate. I could care less what other people think about something, if it's underground or mainstream, so I know I'm not a hipster. And I haven't made any artwork. so I'm not a creative. I became a brony because of 3DS Forums, where this site got its start.

  5. I'm finally watching it now, I'm at the point where John comes on, I'm enjoying it so far, but I have one little nitpick.

The way the one keeps using Redneck the way he does, now I know they probably wouldn't have gotten away with using the words "white trash", but it would have been a better term for those kinda of people, I'm kinda a redneck(to a degree, I live in Iowa) myself, so it's grating to hear him identify morons that way.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finished watching the documentary, aside from the small nitpick I mentioned, I really liked it, It made me feel really good for some reason, and the animated bits were hilarious.

I live in a very small town in the Florida Panhandle ("Lower Alabama"). Our Walmart is the local meet up spot, so I can totally relate.

I don't doubt it may be true for some people and I don't have an issue with it either. From a skeptic's point of view, a psychologist's opinion is stronger than most of the people in the show (I don't believe that is necessarily true, but you can see how it could be for others). Upon hearing her, they go 'aha! That is the reason!' It would confirm a skeptic's belief or inclination that bronies are different because they can't handle the ""real world"" (double quotation marks) which adds to the believability (but not credibility) of her opinion.

The point is, I'm pretty sure most people don't think clearly. The job of the documentary is to present a balanced foray into brony society. Someone might think, 'well, that may be true, or it may not. All I know is that it is not the case for me and therefore possible it is not the case for everyone'. But someone who does not think clearly, who is not aware of his biases, may take Dr Redden's opinion as fact merely because it agrees with his gut feeling.

It is not the fault of the documentary if some things are taken the wrong way by the audience. I think I would err on the side of caution and not include those few lines from her as they are prone to misinterpretation. That is only if I was the director; I don't want to make a big issue out of it.

Actually, I can kind of agree with her a little. She got it wrong that we can't handle reality, but I think that it is a relief from the negativity of the world. However, It's not an escape. It is more of an active attempt to deny what is wrong with today's world and share kindness and tolerance with those around you. But she did try to explain it away, and in doing so, make us out to be outcasts.

I downloaded both the 1080p and the 720p versions. The 1080p for my computer, the 720 for my iPod.

  6. Honestly I had no trouble pronouncing your name.  It sounds like your just dealing with illiterate ignorant people that do not know how to read.  Just remember your never alone. :)

How about almost every teacher and substitute in school, especially the grammar teachers? The problem is that most people just don't care. They take a quick look and see the Ge, and say the first think that comes to their heads. It gets pretty annoying. It's like "Hello, Mister not worth my time."

  7. I don't really dislike my name, but I get tired of everyone mispronouncing it. My first name is Geoffrey. It sounds just like Jeffrey. In fact, it was the original Old English version of the name. It's not even that uncommon a name. I just get sick of being called things like Gregery or Godfry of George. Or anything with a G sound. It gets annoying. I don't want to change my name, I just want people to say it right.

    It means peaceful traveler.

  8. No clue when it will show up on Netflix, but when it does, I'm showing it to all of my family. Sorry to those who haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, but John de Lancie asked us not to post it online yet. Then again, I'm sure someone will probably post it anyway, so be patient.

  9. My apologies if there is already a topic about this. If there is, please either delete or merge.

The Documentary, "Bronies, the Extremely unexpected adult fans of My Little Pony" was released today to those who donated. What does everypony think? This is for people who have seen the documentary, so if you haven't and wish to continue, prepare for spoilers.

Personally, I loved it. Well worth the wait. It really got to the heart of what Bronydom is all about. The animations were great, and it was cool to see cast members and fandom celebrities in it. I loved the animations. I'm going to have to show this to my family.

It was pretty cool how they started with peoples negative reactions and misconceptions, then led to explaining what we really are. They had a good variety of people they interviewed, from average fans to celebrities, artists, and cast. I think they had a good representation of what the fandom is.

Also, it was pretty cool seeing my name in the credits.

  10. I got

    1. A Yamaha Keyboard and some music books.

    2. Books on folklore and fables

    3. A shaving kit

    4. $100 from my grandparents (I actually got it a month ago. I spent it on a TV on Black Friday)

    5. Tootsie Rolls

All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good Christmas. I have family coming over today (don't think I will get anything from them,) so I will start learning how to play the keyboard tomorrow.

  11. I just got my Wii U Deluxe today. I was surprised my local Gamestop had any in stock! I guess sometimes it pays to live in a small town. I only have two games for it so far, Nintendo Land and Assassin's Creed 3 (and I'm still playing the first one!). I'm updating as I type this, so I will probably post tomorrow with my opinions.

I am mainly excited for games we haven't seen yet, like new Metroid, Zelda, and Smash Bros games. I definitely want Monster Hunter and Aliens Colonial Marines.

  12. Finished watching the iTunes version.

For those who haven't seen the episode yet, I'll put it in the spoilers tag. And why do I need 100 characters?

Great episode. I loved the legend of the Mirror Pond (I'm a sucker for myths and legends) It was great how only the real Pinkie had a soul and had concern for her friends. We got to see some Apple Family like Apple Fritter. The morale was a good one even if I could see it a mile away. And the test was hilarious.

    8.5/10

  13. Well its just loaded for me now, after leaving it for a while, gunna monitor it and see if it freezes again or not.

For now just leave your device for a while then come back to it later and see if it loads, all i can offer to help at the moment.

Right now I'm trying to take it off of my iPod with iTunes, then putting it back on. If that doesn't work, I'll just leave it alone until after work today.
  14. Well great, can't load up the game on mine at the moment, music plays on the loading screen but the bar doesn't go up at all, gunna try leaving a bit longer see if it decides to perk up.

Already tried restarting the app and my iPhone to no avail.

    Any solutions?

I'm having the exact same problem right now. I've tried restarting the app, restarting my iPod, playing other games for a while, playing music and coming back to it, but nothing works.
  15. I hate the social element to this game. I have tons of friends so far, but none of their treasure chests seem to get through. I've gotten a few, but hardly any. I don't think I got a single one today, and I need 5 to get through this quest. It's so frustrating!

Also, I joined Gameloft. I'm Slendermane.

  16. Granted. Here is a badly written Dora the Explorer fanfiction written by someone with the name Show Me How.

I wish I had my own personal library.

    Sorry. That was for MagicalStarRain.

    Blackopp1: Granted. No arrows.

  17. To tell you the truth, I'd be fine with Twilight becoming an Alicorn. She could become Princess of the Stars. But I have heard other good theories as well. One is that she becomes Luna's protege as well, and learns how to safely use dark magic. I like the Starswirl reincarnated theory too. One thing is for sure though. Celestia and Luna are preparing her for something, something that her studies and adventures have prepared her for.

  18. What special talent does my cutie mark represent? Um, it's complicated. Lets just say it's tough for a pegasus to carry around an amplifier and find somewhere to plug it in. Turns out, a pegasus can find lightning just about anywhere. Just make sure you don't turn it up to 11. My guitar is kind of ashes right now.
