"Friendship is Magic" Episodes on Dailymotion: Legal?
Whofch replied to MagLocal's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Technically, I believe it's only Illegal to be the one uploading the material. You're free to watch whatever is on the site and it's the the people in charge of the site or original content to do anything about it being there. So yes, legal to watch the episodes if you can find them. Not legal to put them up. Dailymotion just isn't popular enough to have to deal with the copyright issues I guess.- 22 replies

Princess Luna should have her own spin-off series.
Whofch replied to Singe's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Spinoffs are generally a bad idea. They generally ruin good characters. Especially just picking Luna. It would most likely have to follow both sisters to make something work. Those or the CMC are the only ones I could see going somewhere, though it would be much preferable if it was after the current MLP ends. Giving her more of a show presence though is fine and dandy. -
They push the important stuff into the openers and finales, the rest of the seasons just being slice of life filler if you will, so it can feel like the changes come out of nowhere. They also push the important stuff on one pony for the most of it, which isn't great if you don't like that sort of singling out. How do you accept it? You just do. For the most part nothing has changed, mostly just background detail (titles and living quarters). Just forget about the episodes that brought about the changes if you have to and watch the rest as you usually would.

What do the other princesses think of Twilight?
Whofch replied to MLPFanatic34's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Lols, love some of those screencaps. Anyways, as the show is what it is, the Princesses most likely all think Twi is the best thing there is. Cut down, I'd go with (ofc, mostly been said already): Celestia - Sees her with pride as a student or even with motherly eyes. Cadence - Sister/best childhood friend. Luna - Feels grateful for what she's done for her, though besides Nightmare night which wasn't exactly a typical bonding experience, they haven't exactly had much involvement with eachother. Question. Do people want to see more interaction between Luna and Twilight to see how they go together, or would people rather have a different member of the cast be the one who connects the most with her (Twi is already the connection to the other two, perhaps it would be nice to not give her the third?). -
Worst Episode Starring your Favorite Pony
Whofch replied to Moved to Elsewhere's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
How does this topic work. For this, let's say my favourite is Rarity. The only time I have disliked her is in Sonic Rainboom (which isn't exactly her episode anyway). I absoloutly love that episode though. Does that still count or does it have to be an episode I didn't like because of her? I like all her episodes :s Also, AJ splashing in water is so damn good.- 93 replies

I really dislike the whole 'she's planned it all' excuse people throw around. That only works if the show actually shows that she has done so. It never has. Things just appear to work themselves out. That's not the same. It's just a cheap explanation people latch on to. Celestia is bad and the princesses need better writing! She's a peacetime ruler.

Worst Possibilities for MLP Finale (When It Comes)
Whofch replied to PonyFunk's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Only 2 things I don't really want to see. The rest of the crew becoming Alicons/Princesses and the other princesses being replaced by Twi/Mane 6. Sure there's plenty more I just haven't thought of thankfully. Just hope they put a decent amount of effort into it as to not leave many gaping plot holes and stuff. I don't really see a need for any major important changes to occur in it. Just make it fun with a happy ending. -
Not 1 had a flawless run, they never do. However, just having a quick on the spot think back to each character, this is what pops to mind. In no particular order: Pinkie: Seems clueless and mean more often than I'd like (Her ep was possibly the best however). AJ: She's there a lot and just being her usual good self for the most part. Her humour is subtly improving but as a whole not much has changed. Twi: Has done sod all aside from a boss fight which doesn't really do anything for her character either way. Rarity: They have actually put the emphesis on her kindness this season. Sometimes a bit heavily but a fair amount spot on. RD: Can't think of any ups or downs. She was just there being RD. FS: I really hate trying to judge how her character has changed because it never really does that I can see. She's sweet and shy. She needs something new because they can't really remove the shyness without kinds of ruining her Again, this is just of the top of my head. Proper thought and a real look back might see things differently, but as of right now, Rarity stands out.

Twilight- no flowing mane for you
Whofch replied to Nature's Spell's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Sure there could be many reasons. We did see it flow and sparkle briefly, probably just to show the viewers the implied power gain. Ignoring the S1 Luna (since I believe S2 was stated as a redesign to make her look more like her sister and can therefore pretend that she never looked like S1 version) and the freaking weird route they used in the comics (not show canon anyway lols?) you could probably say it's age(1000+ years of magical exposure?)/power/connection to celestial objects/born alicorn vs created (nothing says otherwise yet) or possibly a number of other things and be safe. I like the idea of Cel/Luna having some unique trait remaining (they've lost much over the past few seasons ) and am glad that Twi didn't suddenly gain a perminent/semi-perm flowing mane. -
Besides Fluttershy, who should Discord be paired with more often?
Whofch replied to Megas's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Anybody but Pinkie imo. Too similar and I'd find it a little dull. Princesses would be good since both sides would be powerful and could go at eachother in interesting ways. There's history there too ofc. AJ another good one as she's so down to earth and sensible, whereas Discord is not. Another could be Rarity. He'd either drive her insane or she would drive him insane. Could be interesting. Twi and RD would just be so-so I guess.- 34 replies

Not changed a great deal over the years, mainly shared places splitting into a proper list: 1. Rarity - I much prefer her humour to Pinkie's, yet she isn't just about said humour. There's so much more to her. I just like everything about her. 2. AJ - Strong, caring, all round solid pony with a subtle humour and sarcasm to her. 3. Flutters - Just adorable. Unfortuantely, just being cute and not much else has slowly taken her from my #1 spot over the years. 4. Rainbow - She's fun but can be irritating and a little up herself at times. Better than she was, she's very slowly crawling up. 5. Twilight - Can be 'adorkable' at times but has become rather dull as a whole. Slowly falling down. 6. Pinkie - Too much focus on her humour which just isn't my thing. Perhaps destined to always be my leave favourite.
-
Applejack feels more like leader material than any other. I wouldn't even say Twilight is the leader now. Pretty much every single episode has the character that it's about taking charge with the others happily following. Only major exception I can think of straight away is Dragonshy. People just say Twilight as the openers and finales focus on her.

Hopes: More Luna/Celestia. At least an episode dedicated to them each + 1 sister episode for them. 2-parters that don't have Twilight as the main character. Pleeeeeeeeese. Just reduce her importance a teeeeeeny bit. Don't make Cel/Luna useless (read:captured) in 2-parters. Actual Luna song (not about Twilight). No more evolutions, political or magical (more princesses/castles/other political power increases for anyone) Changelings. Please? A personal story for the other mane 6 (Dash has her wonderbolts for example). More mane6 family time. Twi's parents with speaking roles? Fluttershy's/Rainbow's family? Less Discord Predictions: None of that above bar another meaningless wonderbolt episode most likely (not that I wouldn't enjoy that still). Actually, I predict an Applebloom episode with a Luna dream sequence. Probably stressing over getting her cutie mark as she's the one more worried about not getting one. Other than that, I can't make any other guesses other than the same as it's been doing the past few seasons.

A lot of love for it apparently. I enjoyed it but couldn't help feel it had some irritating flaws. Time for some negativity! Main thing that irks me: Twilight being the all important once more. The rest of the mane 6 being shoved off to the side such as with the crystal empire. Second main thing: Rainbow Power. Looks stupid and is basically the EoH. Pointless. Lesser thing: Discord. I'm not a Discord fan and thank god for that. I really disliked the way they handled him here. I've briefly read some excuses people have made and don't buy it. Castle also looks a bit out of place. Might be ok im a Barbie movie or something. Songs seemed generic. Also, fighting a magic eater with magic is a little odd, but we can just go with how powerful certain magic is *shrug* Anyway, what was the benefit of giving all the power to Twilight. Surely giving the ones who have had 1k+ years of magical experience would have been a better fighting force than Twilight, element of magic or not. Unless the idea was to just hide the magic. But then that brings up the point as to why the left the window and why they trusted Discord not to tell the guy. All that aside, it was beautiful to watch. Baddie bas pretty badass and the boss battle at the end was epic. I just hope the future doesn't invole extensive use of RainbowEoH and that they actually give something for the others to do rather than Twilight.

I thought the breezies(or whatever) was supposed to be an episode title? I'm possibly wrong, I've tried to avoid any spoilers. Are we going to get to see what Fluttershy was up to at some point/next week? *shrug* Annyway, I don't much like discord (compared to some others at least). I think I'll say this is my favourite episode with him in it though. I also like the Twilight and Cadence team. We need more Cadence were it doesn't involve being a ruler or her being the one who needs saving. The song. Fitting for Discord but not something I'd go out of my way to listen to. Don't know what to say other than I found it rather enjoyable. Nothing boring/slow and nothing really amazing/stand out. Liked the laser fight with the plant/spice worm thingum though
-
Was pretty decent. Felt very much like Sweet and Elite to me but with more humour added in and the little gifts for the fans. It does kind of make me want RD to drop the whole wonderbolt dream, as this episode it doesn't really make them very likable (apart from soarin). Not a great Bulk fan, and the appearance of derpy has no sway over my feelings.
-
I find it to be a pretty decent episode. Unfortunately, Pinkie holds it back from being great for me though. She's just too much for me when she goes all crazy. I like the idea of her being the ponies pony, wanting to make everyone happy and being all care free, I just don't like the overly 'cartoony'(that the right way to describe her?) way they use her. The song was obviously fantastic though, but we knew that from the animatic. Probably would have been more pleased with it if they actually stated that Pinkie was related mind you. The whole leaving it open thing gets old. Granted in my eyes they would barely be family anyway if they did.

What was the impact of the sun and moon remaining up?
Whofch replied to FNGRpony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
It was basically just there to show that something had happened to the princesses. Would be interesting if it was left longer seeing as the equestrian moon apparently has it's own 'night field/phase/thing' that it brings with it.I guess a half/half burning death and freezing nuts off. Equestria makes no freaking sense. When ours are both out, daylight obviously triumphs. -
Never once experienced it but people make it sound like a fantasic experience for those who have. http://prefundia.com/projects/view/the-aurora-dream-enhancing-headband/344/ - might be of interest to anyone wanting to experience one? No idea if these can actually work or not but it all sounds interesting.

God, it was a crazy episode. So much random and sillyness but done in all the right ways. Can't help but like it. I like the fact they acknowledge the box from the start. It just keeps the feeling that there is actually something going on in the background. The whole pairing each of them off (aside from Pinkie ofc), was great. Definitely perfered the Rarity/Fluttershy pairing through it though, but AJ/Rainbow still worked very well. The ending seemed to slow down to a crawl but that's probably just because the rest of the episode was so bloody crazy. At the end of the day, it was just fun. Definitely prefered it to the 2-part opener. Much more replayablitiy for me.

S04:E01+02 - Princess Twilight Sparkle
Whofch replied to Yellow Diamond's topic in Season 4 Discussion
A little late to the game here, but I'm gonna plonk this down nontheless. Overall, I thought the episode was pretty damn good. Gonna start with what I didn't like and work up to likes. Dislikes: Twilights 'importance' - The constant "Princess Twilight" grated. I can let that off if it was just for this episode though. Twilights cutie mark being the most prominent thing on the tree? Meh. But that flashing finish interupting the summer sun celebration. That stank of show-off. Most likely not intened to come off as that, but that's how it came across to me. Linked to the above. AJ and the others acting like tools because of Twilight's status. Odd timeline? - Firstly, it made it sound like this is the first sun celebration since the S1 episode 1. Might have just missed something but it felt odd. Secondly, the whole Luna to NMM to banishment seemed to happen far too quickly. A legend born from a 5 minute transformation? Perhaps a good chunk was just skipped. Who knows? Likes: Main one here being the show/Celestia acknowledging Luna, from the opening theme to Celestia talking about her and sharing the celebration with her. The two together are cooler than one individually. Clumsy twilight flying - so cute The animation/Visuals - These really do just get better and better. Removal of the EoH - They are too OP. Getting rid of them opens up new doors...or weird plant box things. The keys - a larger than usual arc running throughout the season (hopefully). I'm up for that. The NMM flashback. F'ing loved it. Simple as that. Neutral: Everfree forest as attacking force? Could have been done so much cooler. Discord. I like and dislike him. Still, quite promising tbh. I'm sure rewatches will reveal new stuff to me and change how I feel on certain things. -
We talking can do the most damage in general or a more personal 1 on 1 fight type situation? As I see it, Celestia/Luna/Discord should be at the top in a league of their own, if only for the reason they can control celestial bodies. Dropping the moon onto the planet or burning the planet in the sun is quite a hard ability to beat. After those three. the other big hitters from the show could be pretty interchangable on the list. I'd put Cadence/Shining and Twilight below the baddies though as not one of them have been shown to have the individual strength to defeat them. Having said that though, Sombra's power was merely hinted at and Chrys's required preperation.
-
For whatever reason, the show made it sound like SA's shield wasn't effective against Sombra's magic. To be honest, it felt like a bit of dodgy writing when they tried to explain it. Made it sound like the horn problem was to blame even though that had only just happened. Whatever the case, I got the impression that it was Cadence alone who had been keeping a shield up for days and was basically just getting too tired to keep it up.

I don't see a brief moment of emotion as something that will change anybodys feelings on her. We've seen her shed a tear in the second episode, show anger in lesson zero/canterlot wedding and a cheeky grin or similar in several places. These only last a few seconds and do nothing for her overall charcter. Emotionless is boring. They need to take her out of the 'above it all and nothing phases me' hole she has been dug into. Being thought of as wise and all knowing/planning is a crappy place for a character to be imo. Perhaps an episode where she actually holds an important role and not just there to congratulate Twilight. God I hope Luna/Celestia get an episode in season 4 which isn't just a flashback episode, or have anything to do with the mane6/Twilight in particular.
-
I like it as is. Mainly because I'm used to fantasy novels and the queens are just boring characters who are just there, while the princes and princesses are the ones who actually do interesting stuff. Simplified a little but more or less how I look at it. Plus making her a queen just puts her above Luna too much which I just can't like unless they turned here into a queen also and we ended up having some Narnia nonsense going on. Who really cares at the end of the day anyway, it's just a title. The rulers are stull rulers nomatter what people call them. They can always bring in a good queen for another nation somewhere along the line if they want to 'break the mold' or whatever.
